UPDATED:Mass dollar burning event
I'm thinking something like the scene in the movie Gandhi, where they burn the cards issued by the British authorities.
It would be a symbolic act showing our determination to free ourselves of economic tyranny.
What do you think?

UPDATE!
The End the Fed rallies on Nov. 22 would be a great time for this.
To those who can't afford to participate: I would be willing to give a dollar to anyone who wanted to participate. If not a full dollar, a 1 cent share would be sufficient.
Side note: Imagine the effect this would have on the confidence in the FRN if the event was seen world wide. "Americans are burning dollars? SELL, SELL, SELL THE DOLLAR!!!"
Also I want to suggest that Dr. Ron Paul be the first to light the fire...literally!
To those who think the dollars should be used for something else: You may still be a slave to fear...and the Federal Reserve. I hope that's not true though.

Another update: I have cleared my schedule, and am planning to attend the End the Fed rally in Washington DC on Nov. 22. I will be burning FRNs. Exactly when and where will be posted later(I'm open to suggestions). If anyone would like to join me, let's hear it!

I am a former US marine. I put my life on the line for people like you. So you have the safety of complete freedom. What you are proposing is to spit in the face of my comrades; some of whom gave their life for you and this country. To think we are 7000 miles from home in a place we are unfamiliar with fighting an enemy we cant really see meanwhile people are at home burning the currency which BUILT our country? Men are dying and fighting every single day in a foriegn land. You could be concerned with bringing our boys home. You probably dont even care that they bring 18 19 20 year old kids home in body bags every other day. You better believe there are people and causes that could use that money you plan on burning in a more positive way, intead of making a childish statement. The kind of conditions we saw people living with in afganistan would make you cry and beg to be back in the US with some US dollars.

I think people do not realize when they say End the Fed, they are asking for the dollars in their pocket(and in their retirement accounts) to be worthless. They just want it to happen gradually. I prefer to get straight to the point. My reasoning? End the Fed=End the war.
We raised over 20 million on a presidential campaign. If we raise 1/20 of that, convert it all into 1$ FRNs, and make a HUGE bonfire...... the Federal Reserve would be finished. Is anyone following my twisted logic?

A smart
Patriot would take his dollars and convert them into silver. The best way to stick it to them isn't by symbolically burning the dollars. They'll just print up more and the public knows this. Let me guess. After the dollar burn your all going to go out and BUY food for a get together. Go and hang out at the burger king and eat some meals PAID for with dollars.
The gesture is fundamentally flawed. Your still going to be using the dollars you just burned. Keeping the system running until it pops. I find it rather moronic that now after all of this you finally want to burn some dollars. The sheep will mock you. While you sit there proud and fat that you have successfully preached to the choir.

I think the idea is ludicrous.
Regardless of how we feel about FRNs, they still have purchasing power, and that money could make the difference in a freedom-candidate's race, or buy gold or silver for the freedom-loving individual, or buy storage foods, or water purifiers, or weapons and ammo.

i remember seeing something like this on youtube
it really caught my attention because it seemed to be genuine grassroots dissent. suddenly there was an influx of videos from people all around who were burning dollar bills. mostly 1s, but there were 5's, 10's, and one i saw for a hundred.
i often wonder if they were spent in vain, but it still had an effect on me from watching all of those videos.
i think it was in response to the initial bailouts that bush/cheney/mccain/obama pushed. screws were starting to come loose.
