There's a great clip in Michael Moore's movie

Yes, I know most here don't like Moore, but Moore nails down Reagan and Reagan-mania.

The clip shows how Reagan was a B actor, but a great spokes model selling all sorts of products. Well, apparently some corporate types tapped this spokes model to run for president on their behalf.

And we all know that he made it via great conservative speeches.

HOWEVER, his actions were far from his speeches, IMHO.

Anyway, the best part of the clip was were Reagan was presiding over something and one of the corporate investors in Reagan leaned over and told Reagan to speed it up; whereby, Reagan got a slightly panicked look on his face and sped it up. Who the hell tells the president to speed it up? Well, if the president is a mere puppet, then the puppet master can boss the puppet around like that.

It is pretty obvious that most presidents have been puppets for some lobbyist. Remember how when Palin became VP candidate? AIPAC put her in a room and gave her a firm shakedown.

W Bush was certainly a cheerleader for corp lobbyist types.

Jon Voight, like Reagan would be just another puppet.

And jeez, just imagine Angelina Jolie getting even more press coverage...I might have to barf.

Good. I was wondering what an obscure actor thinks.

Am I the only one noticing how far we've gone into the idiocracy?

Lol.

I hear you.

But for the record, you're probably too young to remember him. He was actually a big star in the seventies, winning an Oscar for Coming Home, and nominated for one for Midnight Cowboy. He also starred in Deliverance and The Odessa File, all good movies.

Oh that's nice

but the comment about our boys shedding their blood all over the world for
our freedom of speech? Is that what they are dying and killing for? Really?
Some how I don't see it that way. Did I miss something?

If Jon Voight ran for president

he would win

and he would be just as bad as bush or obama

He is a war hawk and a Israel interventionist. An imperialists. Make sure you listen to the last minute of thanks and praise.

I don't disagree

I'm just saying... if he ran, he would win. I don't agree with him.

I knew Clinton, Bush, and Obama would win... I just didn't support or vote for them, and nor will I vote or support Voight

WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

sorry...

YOU BOUGHT A LEBARON JUST BECAUSE IT BELONGED TO JON VOIGHT!!!

hahaha...

i think its funny

he deferred the question about what particularly about the bill he was opposed to -

He couldnt answer, because i dont think he really knows.

and who can really blame him its about 2 bibles worth of text.

However i think that as a force that is in opposition to legislation we should probably know what the legislation is saying, and we should do our best to understand it by reading excerpts ourselves and skimming the material as best we can to get a grapple on it, so that we can arm ourselves not with vague ideology which one can easily argue and refute, but hard facts which the majority of the people you speak to can truly appreciate and as a logical person would tend to agree with you.

Sort of like my running argument against vaccinations with friends and family - it was not until my better half was offered a tetanus shot during her yearly checkup did she outright refuse the vaccine - but she didnt do it for her sake, she did it because she was completely fearful of how angry id be if she told me she let them shoot her up with that crap, and she joked about that with me, and i encouraged her to research just what is in the vaccine she just turned down. It was then, when she found out the past ingredient list of vaccines (authored by some doctor i forget by what source exactly) did she then believe it completely herself - and then she started to tell HER friends about that and they were convinced not to take them ever again based on the ingredient list, and hopefully that will continue to have a chain reaction.

I don't trust any of these 'celebrities'. Many of them are used

as political operatives. His daughter, Angelina Jolie is a member of the CFR and involved at the U.N.

Why get excited? Hollywood is a cesspool.

he's a neocon

he loves fox news and malkin

Dunno about that, but he was great here.

Hard to argue with him when he is talking about the unconstitutionality we are seeing.

haha here he is defending bush "not a war monger"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK2XyMYZ4T4

If you watch this and don't get scared of how much of a neoconservative he is then please give me 20 bucks worth of whatever you are on.

Yikes. How can he see it so clearly about one...

...and not the other? Thanks for posting.

Funny, my daughter and I just recently watched 'Return to Lonesome Dove'.

My image of him as Woodrow Call is forever shattered. :(

I was impressed

that he took the time to come & march in the district of criminals.

He has a gentle style that allows

him to express contrary views in a friendly manner.

Right now, with all the stuff that’s been done over this past year, we’re slowly grabbing creative initiative away from people. Do we want to do that? Please let’s not do this guys and this bill is disastrous.”

This was in reference to the people he encountered in Russia (under Communism) - he is so right and it really is that simple. You take away people's initiative (which freedom, free-market, capitalism allows) and you get mindless, dead robots. Easy for the government to control but devestating for a people and their livlihood. The free-market isn't perfect, the Republic isn't perfect (that's why we have ammendments to the Constitution) but it is the better than any alternative out there.

“The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.” Ron Paul - The Revolution

Yup, I thought that was

Yup, I thought that was right on too. I was in the eastern block right after the curtain was drawn back. The people there at first were like robots. There was little creativity at first. Sometimes you would see something happening and much of the time is was a western European who had come in and started a little business. The young people in these areas also started grasping competitive principles and creativity. But the people who had weathered the communist era were just shuffling along with the path of least resistence.

Another thing was that people seemed used to be gaurded about what they said, especially in public. I am starting to understand how and why they feel that way. I feel like if I say things in public I look like a conspiracy theorist and draw negative attention to myself. Online I feel like one must worry about your opinion being harvested and used against you by authorities if it suits them. This is a mad world we are in right now.
