Daily Pauler's guilty of collectivizing a group of People

Daily Pauler’s are guilty of collectivizing a group of people. They are no better than the lefties they rail against. There are several posts that keep finding their way to the top about “Christians.” There is no qualification that says “Some Christian individuals,” they all say “Christians.” I am really getting sick of it and deem it highly offensive. You might as well start saying “Blacks” or “Atheists” or “Moslems” or whatever. You would be just as guilty of collectivizing. Please think about what you are doing. You aren’t encouraging dialogue but antagonizing and dividing. Is this what you want? Then, if that is true, you are a troll and want to divide the movement of individuals fighting for their freedoms. You obviously only care about YOUR freedom and not anyone else’s.

Is it possible to define some terminology for a clueless analytical person such as myself?
When posters on this Site claim that they "profess faith in Jesus Christ", or declare themselves "Christian", or claim "Jesus Christ as their savior", or even express their "belief in God" I honestly have no idea what they are trying to describe or what the meaning of these statements mean. I cannot figure out what one's belief system has to do with the whole freedom movement either. Also, I notice that anyone claiming any of the above statements seem to be ultra sensitive to any alternative views.
I admittedly was dragged to catholic church every weekend as a child and was forced to go to catechism also. Unfortunately this background does not help me understand the above terminology.

Let's look at the first statement. Profess is defined as:
1. to lay claim to, often insincerely; pretend to: He professed extreme regret.
2. to declare openly; announce or affirm; avow or acknowledge: to profess one's satisfaction.
3. to affirm faith in or allegiance to (a religion, God, etc.).
4. to declare oneself skilled or expert in; claim to have knowledge of; make (a thing) one's profession or business.

Wki: Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. The word "faith" can refer to a religion itself or to religion in general. As with "trust", faith involves a concept of future events or outcomes, and is used conversely for a belief "not resting on logical proof or material evidence."Informal usage of the word "faith" can be quite broad, and may be used in place of "trust" or "belief."

And finally Jesus Christ is, as far as I know, was a dude that lived 2000 years ago.

So from the definitions above, what exactly are you saying, and why is it so important?

Is a "Christian" someone that "professes faith in Jesus Christ"?

Wiki: Savior refers to a person who helps people achieve Salvation, or saves them from something.

My question here is saving who from what? Why is salvation capitalized?

And lastly, the statement "believe in God" is confusing.

Wiki: God is a deity in theistic and deistic religions and other belief systems, representing either the sole deity in monotheism, or a principal deity in polytheism.

Wiki: God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and overseer of the universe. Theologians have ascribed a variety of attributes to the many different conceptions of God. The most common among these include omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and necessary existence. God has also been conceived as being incorporeal, a personal being, the source of all moral obligation, and the "greatest conceivable existent".

The question here is why is there a need to believe in god? Isn't God All that Is? So why the need to believe? Why is God supernatural? What is wrong with simply natural? What does goodness have to do with All that Is? One can not know good without making a judgment of bad. What does morality have to do with All that Is? Does the universe really have an overseer? It seems overseeing is a concept of the human mind. All that Is probably is just fine without an overseer.

For what it's

worth, I kinda like the phrase, "WE THE PEOPLE..."

Your right, I did comment in

Your right, I did comment in personal defense to Christianity, however it was only because of (in defense to healthnut) that Christianity was being lumped together with Christians who are not following the teachings of Jesus Christ. I will not stand idle when someone says they are afraid of Christians, which is equivalent to saying they are scared of Jesus Christ, there has to be some kind of side note on human error or the statement is invalid.

TenBob, thanks for your support

This was really to get people to think what it means to lump everyone into a big pile. It doesn't matter who the everyone is, it just matters that they are lumped together and it is not right. I don't want to offend everyone but wake us up to what we might be communicating.

Have a great evening, Daily Paulers!

You are so way off

People who know me know I could care less if they believe what I do. See, you already have this preconceived idea of who I am and what I believe because I profess a faith in Jesus Christ.

I posted the title to get your attention. It did. Didn't it bother you that I was lumping you in with everyone else?

Point well taken.

you just don't get it.

You have chosen a label with a shit load of baggage. That is YOUR choice. When discussing the actions of Christians, there is a good chance you may be lumped into a group of "Christians" you didn't want to be. This is YOUR problem. There really is a massive group of people that call themselves Christians that fully support the current wars for religious reasons. This group is identified as "Christians". SORRY. No one is being mean by calling them the label they identify themselves with. By the way, they had this history of war with Muslims long before you made the choice to call yourself a Christian. That is part of your chosen label's history. One of the dangers of labeling yourself with a group that goes way back.

Wars fought in the name of religion

Have been going on since the beginning of time. Christians (or those who call themselves one) don't have a corner on the market on that. Also, those "Christians" that were fighting the Muslims were also fighting and annihilating Protestants, who were also Christians.

If I am a follower of Jesus Christ, I call myself a Christian. What should I call myself?

You are really stuck in a place very far back in time.

I don't know.

But if you ignore reality/history and call yourself a Christian, don't bitch when people get a little confused. You are making the choice to use that label. A label that has multiple meanings and associations. Prepare to be patient. You have chosen a confusing label. The actions/crimes attributed to that label are real.

Oh I should add. Do you really think the wars in the Middle East go way back? That they are over? That "I'm stuck very far back intime"? You are clueless. Enjoy your label. You picked a real winner.

I agree

We should not have such divisive threads on the Paul . We should be uniting under a common banner of freedom.

No

she was snotty so she got a spanking. All is fair in love and war.

what I want

is to hang out with a group of people who can teach me something. I do not want to be in a movement with a bunch of ignorant, illogical, religious/atheists fanatics. I like these conversations. I usually learn something.

Yeah... let's talk some Geology!

See how irritating it is when you get lumped in with a bunch of other people because they have certain opinions, even if you don't necessarily share them?

Got you to notice, didn't it?

That's all I wanted. I have been getting very tired of all of the negative postings so I thought people should see it in the light that it is instead of perpetuating all of the negativity about a group of people who happen to profess faith in Jesus Christ but other than that may have very little in common.

Grouping people is not collectivism

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collectivism

Collectivism is a term used to describe any moral, political, or social outlook, that emphasizes the interdependence of every human in some collective group and the priority of group goals over individual goals. Collectivists focus on community and society, and seek to give priority to group goals over individual goals.

Christians are collectivist. as are most other religions that require that you give up individual goals - for example

Acts 4 34

Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

Now is it collectivist to call collectivists collectivist ?

Should we not point out who are Keynesian ?

No, its natural to group and categorize ideas. Now categorizing people based on meaningless physical traits is different, as is insisting that we must deny our wants and needs for the greater good of some group, or making policies designed to correct some perceived unfairness to a group.

No we're not

it's you people who keep labeling us collectivists. We don't collectivize, we are individuals.

LOL

I'm just kidding, interesting post, especially coming from someone who isn't a total jerk all the time. Thanks for sharing.

Great Post.

I have said as much in comments. I too have to question the intentions and motives of those who will not just agree to disagree and who insist on engaging in scapegoating rhetoric.
