On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States
On Wednesday the Obama administration took its first major step in a plan to ban all firearms in the United States . The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.
The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

The U.S. is apparently demanding a provision in the treaty that would require unanimous consent. So if anyone vetoes the treaty, it's null. So this may actually be a ploy on the part of the U.S. to defeat the purpose of the treaty. Think about it.

I just missed that. And referring to "the so-called Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty" still is not the best way to communicate the name of the treaty. The treaty name should have been in the first paragraph.
I still can't figure out who will be engaging in these talks. You didn't tell me, either, even though you are "great" and claim to have super reading skills. I don't want to have to decipher an article...not because I'm incapable, but because it's the journalists' job to spell things out.
It's a UN treaty
that sprung from a proposal by Nobel Peace Prize winner Oscar Arias, who was once a President of Costa Rica.
Arias is a lifelong socialist, and probably communist.
Here's a section pulled from his bio page:

So, basically it comes down to a career Socialist politician, getting the "Nobel Peace Prize" as a prelude and probably "quid pro quo" toward advancing the worldwide disarmament plans of the NWO.

So, it's a NWO and UN promotion, designed to disarm the globe, as a prelude to the overall mass genocide of 90% of the population of world that they plan to accomplish.

I appreciate this information. My original point was strictly about the article itself being poorly written. I understood that it was a UN project, but the author takes his good old time revealing that. And I was hoping for more details about the exact persons and countries involved.
It's also not obvious to me exactly how the import/export of firearms internationally will directly affect right to carry. If the author of this article bothered to summarize the NRA's argument, that would have been helpful.

But defending yourself and your family is another matter. Know this, there are 90 + million gun owners, and most are MULTIPLE gun owners, who could stock up another 50+ million. We have complied until there is nothing left. This will be the last straw.
Just want to remind you
That if the government decides to confiscate firearms, they will succeed. America is no different from any other country where firearms have been confiscated. Maybe there are more people here who literally mean, "They will have to pry my guns out of my cold, dead fingers." But this won't amount to a victory for the 2nd Amendment. It will just mean a temprorily higher death toll from police-civilian clashes.
I think too many people have this romantic notion that regular Americans really could prevent confiscation. We underestimate what the government is capable of. I just assume that if they decide to take the guns, they will take them. The time to revolt is now, peacefully. But nothing's being coordinated on a massive enough scale to make our point clear.
