FOOD INC. - Watch this before you eat your next meal
Submitted by dexterszyd on Thu, 11/12/2009 - 08:42
Just watched this over the weekend. It is a frightening look into our food industry with the powers and monopolies behind it. These huge companies are wiping out everyday farmers....
Worth it to rent on Netflix

Great information
I also recommend "The Future of Food" on Hulu.com. This is why I am an overall vegetarian and encourage my students to eat local or organic only. I highly recommend Chipotle for all of you meat lovers out there.
Be sure and pass this on to your brother, LOL.

Ron Paul and Joel Salatin cured my apathy!
Joel Salatin is my other hero besides Ron Paul. Joel is a Libertarian farmer from Virginia who totally understands the harm the large corps are doing to America. I've read all of his "How to Farm" books and have been trying to raise ethically grown pastured poultry and sell eggs from pastured raised happy hens. I love to see the new (old) direction our food industry is going. People feel better about buying eggs from not only cage free hens but hens that run and fly around all day. Going small is the key. You can support your local farmer and your local butcher and save money by purchasing a quarter or half cow, then throw it in the freezer. Food Inc. is a must see movie for everyone.
Ok, proud gramma bragging here:
My oldest grandchild is signed up for an apprenticeship with Joel Salatin in the spring. Ok, I am done.
Have your grandson find out
if Joel Salatin is a Ron Paul supporter. I'd bet a chicken that he is, no doubt. Love that guy!
I am pretty sure he is
I think I recall him writing in the Acres USA magazine in support of Ron Paul during the campaign.

Another viewpoint.
The Green Revolution had its downsides -- environmental damage, to name one. In India, for example, water tables are drying up and the soil has been degraded by pesticide and fertilizers. The movement also contributed to the rise of big commercial farms at the expense of small holders, fueling resentment from its early days at what critics see as the "corporatization" of food.
But millions of people were saved from starvation, and the movement's architect, Norman Borlaug, received the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize.
Please don't kill the messenger - this is just something I read recently.

I hadn't heard of this dvd. Went to amazon put it in my shopping cart.
Didn't get around to actually submitting my order.
Went back this morning to purchase it and they raised the price $2.00.
Just thought it was a little bizarre.
Please note that the price of Food, Inc. has increased from $13.99 to $15.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.

The Oligarthy wipes out competing powers
Just as they did it with steel, schools, banks, they wiped out any threat from the agricultural sector years ago. What the hell do you think Farm Aid was a result of?
For a quick overview of how the powers that be have been smacking down rising companies (merchants) since the dark ages, view http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOBWhVe68os
