Army Col. John Rossi, deputy commander at Fort Hood, confirmed at a news conference late Friday in Texas that the two weapons carried by Hasan were not military arms, but "privately owned weapons ... purchased locally."
He said more than 100 rounds were fired during the attack.
Records indicate Hasan bought the FN 5.7 at store called "Guns Galore" in Killeen, Texas, in recent months and that gun was used in the attack that left 13 people dead, one of the officials said. The pistol has been dubbed a "cop killer" by those who have tried to stop its use.
The law enforcement officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.
One of the law enforcement officials said that the second gun was an older model Smith & Wesson .357-caliber revolver, but the official added there's nothing so far to indicate the second weapon was fired. The official said the revolver was so old, investigators doubt it could be traced to a specific purchase.

I would love to hear the discription from the police officer
of the man he shot. I wonder if it was Hasan at all. Why aren't eyewitnesses coming forward with the account? The only ones I saw were family members with second hand accounts that were texted or anonymous first hand accounts (faces blurred and no name given).

answering the call, putting down you donut and traffic.
In this case clearing the guardshack at the base's gate and locating the right building.

(CNN) -- A senior officer who was playing golf Thursday near Fort Hood, Texas, told CNN he witnessed the arrest of one of the two surviving suspects of the shooting at the Army installation.
Shortly after the shooting, the officer said, military police told him to clear the course and he saw other MPs surround the building that held the golf carts, he said.
The senior officer said he ducked into a nearby house for cover as 30 to 40 cars carrying MPs approached.
He said he saw a soldier in battle-dress uniform, his hands in the air. The MPs ordered him to lie on the ground and open his uniform, presumably to ensure he was not carrying explosives, the senior officer said.
He said an MP told him that authorities considered the man to be a suspect in the shootings after having overheard the man say he was with the shooter.
The man was surrounded for 25 to 30 minutes, until a convoy of vehicles arrived, led by a Ford Crown Victoria and carrying men in suits, and he was taken away, the senior officer said.
The golf course is about 2.5 miles from Fort Hood, the officer told CNN.

It's perfectly believable. Here's a a video of Mikhail Gorbachev firing the same pistol. He fired 13 rounds in 13 seconds, and was not rushed doing it. One hundred and 20 rounds could therefore be fired in two minutes, plus the amount of time required to change clips. Some magazines for that weapon hold 20 rounds. The rampage was said to last about five minutes. That's five reloads in three minutes, for a leisurely 36 seconds each.

That's pretty impressive. The guy in the vid cranked off all those rounds at the same target. Hasan must've (allegedly) been firing only one or two rounds per target to hit 43/100+. It would take an ice cold mother-effer to do that and keep reloading without missing a beat and without losing accuracy. That would take a bizarre level of cool headed cold blooded malice.
