What a clown! I love the comment down the page: He's apologizing for Pearl Harbor.

If he's, "The One"; ....

why is he bowing in subservience? He's embarrassing!

Man, you guys manage to find

Man, you guys manage to find the weirdest things to get hung up on! Why not assume the poor guy is simply trying to be polite and display some etiquette? Or if that's not good enough, one of the things Obama promised to do all along was to show more humbleness towards other nations and peoples (in their view, that means leaders) than Bush / Cheney did. Maybe he's overdoing it a bit and coming off somewhat theatrical, but at least a more humble posture beats the "proud to be hated by everyone" approach the last administration seemed to take.

Absolutely right

There is power in humility.
The 6 foot 6 inch tall high school kid never needs to bully the rest of the students. Yet some do.
I've always had more respect for the gentle giants.

America should be the gentle giant.
Never starting any fights, respectful to other nations, and cultures.
Or..Speak softly, and carry a big stick.

A girl from India once asked my "Why do Americans go to other countries, and still view the residents as the foreigners?"

I told her that we were international a-holes..

Ugh

Pathetic.

Like bowing to the Saudis, this goes too far.

It is true that it is customary to give a light bow (maybe a couple of degrees at the hips, more like an exaggerated nod as a greeting) but this is just disgusting. This is prostration, and I would not be surprised in the least if it offended or embarrassed the Japanese. I would've been fired on the spot for bowing like that when I worked on the Consulate detail.

Damn this guy really needs to just go the hell away.

This usurper is a joke of the entire world...

Unfortunately, for the Americans he is out representing us, so sad to see. I never in my military career ever thought a President of the United States would bow as low as he has. He is a Cameleon, and will do whatever it takes to be liked.

he is a communist... his job

he is a communist... his job is to merge the US with other communist nations into a one world government.. that is his job.. Bush senior started it in 89.. then went to clinton, bush jr. now obama is final chapter..

obama is a muslim... this is

obama is a muslim... this is a muslim tradition when greeting royalty.. he also is begging for more treasuries to be baught.. I think there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that the American people have no clue about.. The economy is in much worse shape so our idiot/communist inchief is begging..

I agree with your post...

to be honest bush showed more class. americans should not bow to royalty.

It's because that short guy...

owns (literally) his ass. Japan is the second largest holder of American debt. He is their slave and so are we if we don't get out of Corp US.

Well this just proves it.

He's Japanese.

Finally

a sensical remark to this.

Colchester, New London County, Connecticut

Japanese military will be entering the United States

to join UN military and Blackwater, to protect the american citizens from themselves, and protect corporate agriculture from the small family farmers.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

Japan must rule us then

Thanks for proving it with your unrefutable evidence.

I just want to BARF!

Give me a break. The guy is laughing at him. What a fool!

"No Americans of any station are required to bow to royalty. It is one of the pillars of American exceptionalism that our country rejected traditional caste divisions. Article I Section 9 of the Constitution forbids titles of nobility and stipulates that no officeholder or government employee may "accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state" without the consent of Congress. Judith Martin wrote in her Miss Manners column in 2001 that bowing "is not an ordinary bit of foreign etiquette one might adopt out of courtesy when traveling. ... Americans do not properly bow to any royalty. We show respect for other countries' leaders the same way we do to our own."

using the word "bow" in this

using the word "bow" in this statement is completely out of context. the reason for a bow in asian countries is not to bow to some kind of authority figure or royalty. it is a simple greeting, period. what would we think if someone from japan visiting this country purposely looked the other way when you waved your hand to him in greeting?

Gosh! Am I glad I'm not

Gosh! Am I glad I'm not American. embarrassing.
Why is he kissing up to Royals? Some kind of inferiority complex?

Obamateurism of the Day (Nothing on the floor this time!!)

posted at 9:23 am on November 14, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Here’s a rare Saturday OOTD for Hot Air readers, but this one can’t wait for Monday. Andrew Malcolm reports on Barack Obama’s latest breach of protocol, this time with Emperor Akihito of Japan:

Pic at link: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/11/14/obamateurism-of-the-da...

How low will the new American president go for the world’s royalty?

This photo will get Democrat President Obama a lot of approving nods in Japan this weekend, especially among the older generation of Japanese who still pay attention to the royal family living in its downtown castle. Very low bows like this are a sign of great respect and deference for a superior.

To some in the United States, however, an upright handshake might have looked better. Remember Michelle Obama casually patting Britain’s Queen Elizabeth on the back during their Buckingham Palace visit? America’s royalty tends to make movies and get bad reviews and lots of money as a sign of respect.

Obama could receive some frowns back home as he did for his not-quite-this-low-or-maybe-about-the-same-bow to the Saudi king not so long ago.

Seven months ago, the White House insisted that Obama didn’t bow to Saudi King Abdullah, understanding the terrible breach in presidential protocol that it represented. They tried to tell reporters that Obama was picking something up off the floor, which the video clearly shows was a lie (at the link). Take a look at the picture of Obama’s bow to the son of Hirohito. Do you see anything on that immaculate floor that requires retrieval?

wow!

being that obama is a collectivist, is that a bow for all of america? bush looks better and better by the day. hell bush suspending the 2008 elections looks better than this nwo flunky. :- (
