Simple Analogy - Socialism Summed Up In A Few Sentences
http://www.rense.com/general88/simple.htm
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling

(I've noticed this about traffic, people seem less patient, especially woman drivers.)
But all kidding aside,
this daily "blame worthy" attitude about the peoples is more stressful, than the other way,
whatever that is.
And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
Awesome...
Simply Awesome, I should copy this and hand it out...
Beautiful in its simplicity!
I like Margaret Thatcher's take on socialism. (I know she has her flaws.)
"... but what the honorable member is saying is that he would rather the poor were poorer, provided the rich were less rich."

I believe
Margaret Thatcher was influenced by Hayek's "Road to Serfdom". I found this video while searching for a reference about it on youtube.
That is why American kids
That is why American kids are the best educated in the world, and those in Russia, Europe and China can't compete because their socialistic education sucks. Only the best education can create service economy as a replacement for the real one, to be a happy educated servant and to serve honorably. The Army and corporations need millions of such well brainwashed people.
Are you serious?
"That is why American kids are the best educated in the world"
Have you not heard of No Child Left Behind? It was a total bust. Or are you referring to those who have been privy to a private education - in other words, the priviledged few?

Who is bankrupting America? Those recipients of "No Child Left Behind " or graduates of Harvard or other prestigious private education institutions?
Yeah... both... socialized healthcare and socialized education sucks!
To be good... educated... slave you have to be in debt... or join the army... unless of course you were born in privileged class... but this privileged class is shrinking as fast as a value of a dollar...
sarcasm
It's difficult to be sure about sarcasm on line, as we all know. But I detect its use here, as indicated by the exaggeration implied in the word "best."
We may have some students who come out okay, based on their socioeconomic class, individual determination, and geographic location (and luck), but if you've ever met an average child from Finland...you'll know that American children are below par for human potential. This tends to be common knowledge, and therefore I think the statement we are responding to is sarcasm.
>and therefore I think the
>and therefore I think the statement we are responding to is sarcasm.<
And you are correct.
In Communist Eastern Europe where I grow up College education was free but to be able to get this education it was not enough to pass the admission test you had to pass this admission test with the BEST scores...
... those that scored low no matter how rich their parents were... were not allowed to study.
Of course this system was abused and bribes were not uncommon...
but I strongly believe that 90 percent of American high school graduates would not pass this test.
One thing that people hated was not admission test... but extra points granted for those that come from working class... it was program similar to "No Child Left Behind" or great equalizer... People understood that admission test should reward those having knowledge, those that studied hard in high school and not to reward kids who just happen to be be born in poor non educated families.
Socialized education can be very good and access to it can be opposite of rewarding laziness... if American Universities would control enrollment through the admission knowledge tests and not by high school scores or the ability to pay tuition there would be much more pressure and incentives for students in high school to study... not just attending classes... the same is true about student's parents who would care more about their kids learning progress and not about ways to finance collage.
Ron Paul said that whatever we SUBSIDIZE we will get more... to be able to compete with China, India, EU and some more growing economies we need more and better educated people... what if we would subsidize education by helping those that study hard but don't want join the military...Those that study hard but do not have rich parents...
Would we get more educated people?
Currently government is subsidizing education for anybody who qualify on bases of income and this is waste of money as there is no incentives for young people to study hard... it is enough to be poor to get help... why to study hard?
Our government is subsidizing military technology and we have the strongest and most sophisticated military force in the world...
For every country subsidizing education is not a welfare program... it is investment that is absolutely necessary... to survive as a country...
