Movie 2012: lesson in real money

My kid seen the flick. He said that a person needed to pay like 10 billion euros to get on the boat. Answer me this? What good would paper $ do for anyone? Except for firewood? I would rather be the guy who owned the cow. Like Thurston Howell 3rd on Gilligans island paper would buy you nothing. Also it would be one unproductive society as all the Serf's would be dead. I know it's just a movie but use it to teach people about what money really is.
