I'd just stop playing football

if I was on the redskins. Zorn is the worst thing to happen to football since the Tom Brady rule, so only a few weeks of bad, but he is terrible.

In DC it is pronounced "Reh-skeeans", so maybe that is why there is a disconnect :)

regardless, its not the government's job to be changing the names of sports franchises.

I am a huge Wizards fan, but I was VERY dissapointed when they changed their name to the PC(witchcraft is very PC) wizards from the Bullets(bad-ass long-time franchise name).

Who Cares?

I would say the American Indians care, but their numbers are so small (and there's so much money in the NFL) that they can't make a big stink about it.

You'd never see the "Newark Tar Babies", "Sarasota Kikes", or "San Antonio Wetbacks" for obvious reasons.

Just for the record; I think the "Cleveland Indians" is okay, so are the "Notre Dame Fighting Irish" as well as the "Minnesota Vikings."

I live near DC but have never supported the Redskins for this very reason, and was an Eagles fan when I watched football.

I'm saying they're in such a small minority, and don't have groups like NAACP, AIPAC, La Raza (with large bank rolls) to take the super rich NFL to court.

Of course I care; I think it's terrible that in the 21st century, people are so brainwashed that they will support this team, and never even think about what their team name means.

with that being said, i would probably argue that a private company should be allowed to call themselves whatever they want.

Some black people prefer to be called African American, but I don't think they would have grounds to tell a football franchise not to name themselves after the "blacks."

it is sad that they don't understand that Redskins' is an insulting word. I guess it would be like calling them the Washington White Honkies team.
Maybe, the people who were upset with the name go directly to the management and maybe, work something out.
