Good Deal? Please educate me on "junk silver"

I bought 1000 dollars in quarter silver dollars today. $73.75 face value. Was that a good deal? How can I know how much actual silver I have? There is a formula for conversion. Thanks for your help.

After accounting for typical wear, you bought about 52.75 ounces of fine silver at about $18.96 per ounce. That's actually less per coin than APMEX is asking for $100 face of Washington quarters.
