Yup, the economy has turned around allright!
I just came back from applying for a PT diner job in Cleveland, OH, while I'm in school. The lady said she'd had 200 applicants interviewed over the last two days, is only gonna hire those with the most experience, and that if she needs me, she'll call. Interview time including filling out the application 5 minutes.
Thanks Obama, your economic plans have sure lead to one HELL of a "great" recovery...
Why do I get the feeling that being a student is the last thing you want to be when applying for a job. Think about it. They have middle aged and older people with more financial obligations, they aren't going to hire somebody in school. Or just out of school with "no experience..." And if I left school and just tried to work, I'd be in less debt, BUT still wouldn't get hired do to my status and experience. (PS. I've worked for eight years up until the last year)
Obama has really screwed the people who got him elected... I think there may be a backlash. And if there isn't somebody ought to start it! Uggh!!!

hahaha "turned in its grave"
hahaha "turned in its grave" good stuff
Yes it has!...
turned in it's grave.

Oh! I remember when I could not get a job waiting tables!
Back in 1981. I had a tiny baby, and logging had just fallen apart under us. Now I understand it was a treaty with Canada, back then I just knew we could not find jobs any more. Hubby had gone to tree planting, and tried to get back on with the Forest Service but by then they were laying off... We gave up and moved to the big city - near Portland. I had been waiting tables for 5 years by then. I was still pretty cute, I was smart and good at interviews. Hubby was willing to do anything. We wound up selling our little silver coin collection... :) my first guitar (which found its way back to me - a wild ass story for another time) and picking raspberries with the Mexicans to get enough money to run back to the mountains where we knew how to live off the land at least a little, and had good friends and family nearby. You know, it was those friends and family that really made the difference. Wish my family would pull their heads out of their butts.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
I don't think you can blame
Obama for the current conditions. I'm pretty sure that we have no one to blame but ourselves.
who is "ourselves", though?
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
I am classified as a senior citizen now (well over the AARP guidelines)--
I have NEVER taken any governmental assistance. I have always worked very hard. I have never gotten a 'free ride', and I have lived very frugally--
and my children, who are hard-working and good--
are ALL VERY underemployed--
this doesn't have anything to do with education, and it doesn't have anything to do with lack of initiative and hard work or even greed on the part of the "ordinary" Americans *I* know!
so . . . 'ourselves'--
I took no government help. I called my congresspeople on the issue. I lived a very decent life, even by founding father standards--
and I watch my children struggle--
and have to grapple for everything little thing myself--
no, this is not THIS "self"--
so, whoever "ourselves" is--
please have them stand forward to receive their shame--
I am not a compromised diplomat. I am not an economic hit man. I am not a central banker. I am not even a politician.
I didn't DO this to anyone, least of all to myself and my children and their children!
I know that the victim mentality can only go so far. I don't want my pound of flesh from bankers, CIA agents, congresspeople or even from the ulgy 'elite'--
but i know whether or not I have committed this crime on myself and mine!
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
I no longer think Economy is a big problem relative to the

In my opinion, you should be
In my opinion, you should be doing whatever you possibly can to stay out of debt. If you have the choice between working and going to school, I would say to work. There are a very significant number of college students graduating without jobs and no prospects for work. Working and going to college would be the best thing, but do try to pay for school without loans if at all possible.
There may even be options for you to skip a few semesters via clep exams and getting credits from Thomas Edison University/College based on your life/work experience. Between those two you could shave a year or more of time from your degree.
...
I'll add a suggestion to
I'll add a suggestion to look through Gary North's archives on LewRockwell.com for an article he wrote about a year back on how to get a good education for far less money than even community college.

um . . . the baillout happened before Obama was elected--
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
I am a strict constitutionalist, and to ME, Obama and McCain were the same--
but--
this was caused by the baillout, not by Obama!!!
It has taken almost a year for things to get this bad--
he hasn't 'helped', but, puppet as he is, he 'inherited' this mess--
it began LONG ago--
and yes, *we* are experiencing this where we are--
the wheels began to grind, inexorably 14 months ago--
and a year later . . .
two that were not unemployed are, and one who was employed is 'furloughed'--(hours/pay cut)
But, I can see that this goes WAY back before Obama--
I don't have to like or respect him to be fair--

The argument is...
That the increased spending, will bankrupt us into insolvency. Adding on a spending spree for the elite, on top of a "pork barrell war(s)" does NOT improve the economy.
That he is surely responsible for, in his not ending or reversing course but hitting the gas as we're about to head off the cliff!!! (More wars, more fraud (recovery.org), more taxes...) If you can't see that, then well...
um, he's been in for 10 months?
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
I do not deny that he is at least unwise, if not corrupt and complicit with all the very worst of men and women--
I don't deny that at all.
I am just tired of seeing this pathetic "president" being used as a scapegoat!
I would like to ask if the people now speaking out against Obama spoke out against Bush!
That is all, nothing more, nothing less.
AND, it is the wars that have bankrupted us--before the baillout.
That Obama is adding fuel to the destroying fire I do not deny.
I just think we can't make progress while scapegoating him.
And I don't see why others cannot see THAT.
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
You really need to spend some time reading the archives
of this site if you think no one spoke out against Bush.
When I read your statement it was no surprise to me you have only been
a member of Daily Paul for little over 10 weeks.
You are going to be hard pressed to find anyone here that did NOT or do NOT speak out against Bush and his polices.
Amen to that!
Bump.
no he did not inderite this
no he did not inherite this mess.. he was a senator before being pres. and voted for all the legislation that put us here.. he is just as guilty.. the guy is a communist period.. he needs to quit passing the buck..

It is as though this single man has done all the dastardly deeds that have been done!
That sort of naivete does not bode well for the freedom movement.

There will be growth in the spring!
I'm sick of the chicken hawking...I've *been there*.
====
President "Bobby": Mr. Gardner, do you agree with Ben, or do you think that we can stimulate growth through temporary incentives?
[Long pause]
Chance the Gardener: As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden.
President "Bobby": In the garden.
Chance the Gardener: Yes. In the garden, growth has it seasons. First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again.
President "Bobby": Spring and summer.
Chance the Gardener: Yes.
President "Bobby": Then fall and winter.
Chance the Gardener: Yes.
Benjamin Rand: I think what our insightful young friend is saying is that we welcome the inevitable seasons of nature, but we're upset by the seasons of our economy.
Chance the Gardener: Yes! There will be growth in the spring!
Benjamin Rand: Hmm!
Chance the Gardener: Hmm!
President "Bobby": Hm. Well, Mr. Gardner, I must admit that is one of the most refreshing and optimistic statements I've heard in a very, very long time.
[Benjamin Rand applauds]
President "Bobby": I admire your good, solid sense. That's precisely what we lack on Capitol Hill.
Great movie!
"Being there"
The point being that our economy has seasons
It will get better.
If you got knocked over by this economy, then learn that the economy has ups and downs. The cycle is about every ten years...but it varies, so don't try to time it.
Instead, work and save like crazy in the spring and summer...harvest in the autumn...invest like crazy in the winter (when everything is on sale).
We are still in an economic winter. If you are struggling now, it isn't AIG's fault, it isn't Obama's or Bush's fault, it is YOUR OWN FAULT!
I've seen this chicken hawking and blame game for far too long.
Of all people, Ron Paulers should take responsibility for their own lives. The more you take responsibility for your own life, the less you chicken hawk and blame others for your woes.
Of course, we should call out politicians for poor or influenced decisions, but there are too many dependent-related emotions attached to the arguments on this board. Many here have not chosen to be take responsibility for their lives.
still someone "out there" who is investing?
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
wow--
the ONLY thing I invest in is my own labor, garden seeds, my soil--
and my relationships--
no $ left to invest--
just enough to break even--
wow--
those who struggle have only themselves to blame.
I guess it depends upon what you call a 'struggle'.
Can YOU feed yourself without your investments, etc.? Without some sort of money--
You are blithe to tell others they are responsible for the mess this economy is in, when they have been hard at work to care for themselves while others derailed the surrounding and founding structure.
I may not have investments, but I take no assistance, and I can feed myself--
If you are still making money during this time, you are more than likely exploiting someone 'out there' to do so. Or you have chosen to ignore the hard working people around you who are losing jobs and have no 'seed' money to start over on their own.
If you can live with yourself while doing that, fine.
I don't like making this a personal 'attack', but I think you are cavalier to tell people they are to blame--in a general, random way. I understand the 'pull yourself up by the bootstraps' mentality; I grew up with it and was surrounded by it. But not everyone has bootstraps--
AND I don't like social darwinism! You can take that to the elite and let them cash it out for you with their eugenics.
I'll keep my garden going as long as I can.
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

this statement is wrong I feel too.. it was the government who brought on NAFTA ETC... it was the government who taxed people and business to death.. it was government who sent jobs over seas.. it was government who destroyed the dollar.. ETC ETC ETC.. sure people are responcible for their own decisions , but, government has not helped at all..
and yes it is aig's fault along with the big banks and huge corporations.. this was a designed transfer of wealth.. you have to understand that.

the only way this economy
the only way this economy gets any better is to have a total collapse.. then start all over.. OR Ron Paul gets elected, stops all wars, brings all troops home from all bases.. abolishes the income tax, gets rid of the Irs and cuts government by 90%.. you think that will happen in the next 2 years? again.. it will take total collapse, one hell of alot of pain and then those who survive can start over..

I should have put this below 'boru'--
at least most of it--
I don't want to discount 'boru' either; I have seen some of 'his' posts that are lucid and good.
I don't mean to offend. I just think we need to be careful not to become worse than the 'elite' in our attitudes about those who have made poor choices. There ARE people 'out there' who don't care for those they have caused to suffer.

a talking head the REAL decision makers are behind the scenes. This has been going on for many, many years. That is why Dr. Paul wants to end the FED. Lets not attack Obama, attack the system. I'm hoping that will get us some traction. Good luck to you.
