Thinking about the 'Terrorist Trial' coming to NYC....

I replied to someone's posting here yesterday concerning this trial. I said I thought it was odd that he was being tried in civil court over an alleged hijacking...

Well, upon further digging I discovered it was indeed a federal court... just one in NYC.
Beyond that I had other issues such as the fact that these guys weren't American citizens, so how could they be protected under our laws?

If they are terrorists, why are they in Federal court? If they are criminals, why are they held as POW's in Gitmo?
