Ron Paul Wants to See the Blimp!
Submitted by jmf866 on Thu, 12/06/2007 - 12:22Last night we received info on Ron Paul arriving at the GB International Airport (Houston), so we drove up there really quick and waited for him to come off the plane. He was glad to see us and chatted with us for quite a while before heading outside where more supporters were. While we were chatting it up, he talked about how he was excited about this whole Blimp idea and couldn't wait to see it happen. And we didn't even mention it to him. We have a few photos up on the meetup. Obviously he was tired so we didn't want to take up too much of his time. But he was gracious enough to take a photo with us even though he looked pretty tired.
So, what about this blimp? You can bet I'll be donating to it now...

I´m in Europe and just donated 25 bucks to the blimp project and I don´t see any wrongdoing with that. I think the american presidential campaign affects not only americans but the whole world. The other canditates have the BIG companies behind their back but RP has a whole world.

Ground floor filling up fast
Watching the blimp total zoom tonight I decided to get in before I go to bed, because otherwise I fear I won't be able to help it become a done deal. Sure it is good to help after its launch is assured, but I like the idea I helped pay for the launch. I just paid $100 and now I can rest easy.

Silly me
I thought the blimp idea was really silly, and didn't pledge for it, but for some strange reason my fingers just rebelled against me and made a donation using my credit card. Guess there's nothing silly about a little fun, and it has earned more publicity for the campaign.

I notice people are questioning the amount raised so far compared to the amount pledged.It is obvious why there is such a big difference.There are many, many people around the world who have pledged an amount on the understanding they could as the blimp is not part of the official campaign, only to find that if they don't tick the box to say they are US citizens/resident they cannot get through the checkout.(I have tried)
I contacted the blimp site two days ago to ask if non US citizens can contribute and if not to say so clearly on the site!.The original version of their site at the time of making pledges made no mention.I believe this is where alot of the confusion originates.
Those of us outside the US are keen to help financially in any way we can but we need to know exactly what we can and cannot do.
Can someone clarify this situation definitively?
Ron Paul can be the example of change needed for the rest of the world too!

The good doctor wants a blimp
For 30 years, Dr. Paul has been fighting for OUR freedom. For 30 years he has been ignored and ridiculed, while everyone around him who had sworn to uphold the Constitution used it as toilet paper. And for 30 years he never waivered, never weakened, never compromised our freedom even when most of us didn't even know who he was.
It's time to pay him back.
Dr. Paul thinks it would be nice to have a blimp. He deserves an ARMADA of blimps! The least we can do is buy him one!
We are powerful! We can do this easily and STILL rock the Tea Party. So let's stop with the querulous quibbling and quavering. Ronward and upward with the Ron Paul Blimp!

Ron Paul keeps telling us to have fun. What other candidate would say that? He, more than any of them, knows what is at stake but he tells us to have fun! And I am. Maybe my kids will get to see the Blimp! I would drive a long way for that.

What's the rush?
Well, we need to raise 23,000 more today, about $2,000 an hour, and 40,000 dollars tomorrow, to make 200,000 by Friday nite. If we make it, the blimp is launched on the 10th and has the time to stop off in DC and NY on its way to the tea party.
If we don't, and the blimp launch is delayed 2 days, then it will have to fly directly to Boston and miss DC and NY, since it still needs to make the Tea Party on time.
So that's the reason for the rush. The owner won't put the blimp in the air until he has 200,000 in his account.
So the discussions of whether the blimp is a good idea or not, or whether this is the best slogan or not, are really irrelevant. The only relevant issue is - can we raise the money in time to maximize the impact of the blimp - e.g., stopping off at DC and NY on its way to Boston.

Legal issues. This has been discussed many times before both here and elsewhere.
No campaign funds for the blimp.
No corporation funds.
No foreign individuals (or foreign corporations).
So it's up to us as "United States Individuals".
