follow the link to make a long range wireless internet antenna.
put it in front of a parabolic dish, then hook it up to your computer and watch the networks appear.
from my experiments with this technology, i was able to break on to wireless signals over a mile away! 8)

Too long and drawn out for something so simple. Let me save you the time... get an alligator clip, crimp it to 4-5' wire, clip the clip to the existing antenna, extend the wire, hang on the wall.

While attending an amatuer radio operators class,
we attached our lead antenae wire to a metal shopping cart,
(quad antenae) and in another demonstraton, to a metal chair, and did duplex (two way) transmissions.
If you can, stretch out a wire 36 feet long, and you'll get as far away and antartica. Called a "long wire" antenae.(again, amateur radio bands).
And provide a proper "ground" for your radio.
