Anyone knows the ratio of active duty vs retired within the OK members?
Some time ago, quite at the beginning, I've browsed through the memberlist, and it appeared to me, that most of them are retired.
Chris I would estimate it around
20% active LEO's and probably 2-5% active military at this time. This is just my guess as a member. This is why it is so important for the care packages. Just please, do not discount the retired and those of us that are not retired but served. The effort we make today will make this country safe when it counts.

I don't have actual numbers
but you are correct a lot of them are retired or close to retirement...at the same time a huge number of police and military know about OK and struggle inside thier hearts between joining and staying on the sidelines...but once they see their commanding officers generals join OK they will come and join.

I must admit, I'm surprised there are that many cops who agree with the Oath Keepers pledge.
I thought the percentage of bad cops was much higher (like most of 'em).
Then again, talk is cheap. Let's hope they really keep their oath!

people in the military police are very well aware that their privite guns could be taken away by Obama folks so they come together and defend the Constitution and the Oath they took to protect it against the enemies foreign and domestic.

I talked with the founder of Oath Keepers couple of days ago Stewart Rhodes and I know God is watching over him and the whole OK organization - CFL is very important but I said to him his group is the most important - we really need their numbers to grow to protect us from illagal acts like potential Martial Law e.t.c.
I know you moved to Seattle I am just north of it in Vancouver BC not sure if you know but during the famous Seattle anti WTO protests members of the firefighters union REFUSED police orders to fire water cannons on the protesting people - let me tell you that OK accept firefighters into their ranks and many are joining daily.

Actually my hometown is Seattle, but I'm currently living in Boston.
And I was at the Battle in Seattle in 1999. It was a huge step in my process of waking up.

But I didn't know that the fire department refused police department orders. That is tremendous! Thank you for sharing that.
Overall, the protest was peaceful -- all day long. There was a tiny group of violent kids who tried breaking windows at Nike Town & Nordstrom. That was the only violence I saw, and yet when I went home to watch the coverage on the local news, that was all they showed: Broken windows and what little violence they could capture on film. They just kept showing it over and over and over - the same footage.
If you read it, you'll note that I was still sleeping.

I was at the time of the Battle of Seattle also here in Vancouver and knew some Canadians who went south to be a part of it.
Basicaly 50.000 people shut down the city...another thing is that after the protest every port on the US west coast was shut down by strikers in solidarity with Seattle - this was also not reported by the MSM guess for fear of giving us added momentum.

100,000 Marines!
I reached out to my first police officer last week.
This is a new step for me because of my past experience with local police officers in Los Angeles and in particular the Harbor Division.
I remember when I was young boy, all my friends and I would run to greet the police and they even had a LAPD/Dodger baseball card give away program that made every kid happy to see the police. We admired them tremendously and I even aspired to become a police officer.
But things changed. You see, I grew up in a gang infested neighborhood and I noticed as we grew into a teen that cops looked and treated us different. So over the last 20 years, knowing what I know about the law now and after having my rights violated and after seeing countless videos of police brutality and criminal behavior my feelings changed. I lost just about all respect for law enforcement.
So now I feel that I can help myself deal with my anger towards police by reaching out to them as a gentlemen and let them know about the Oathkeepers project and how much we need them to be on our side once again.
This first step left me with a good feeling. I will try again.
