Anti-Rand Paul Sock Puppets Unveil Themselves

0 votes

I was one of many who was distraught by the news that Rand Paul decided to toe the establishment line on his disagreement over detainees receiving a civil trial. But, often bad news leads to unintended consequences.

Many have already noticed, but there is a direct corollary between this news and the sudden disproportionate surge in anti-Rand commentary. Some are from Daily Paul veterans who you'd might expect to hear from. Unfortunately, many are from "new" accounts who say they suddenly felt the urge to join the Daily Paul. The other bunch are from old sock puppet accounts that laid dormant for years, and have suddenly become active.

Take it from somebody who happens to know a thing or two about sock puppeting, disinformation, and persuasion via peer opinion: this is absolutely no coincidence.

There is a concerted effort from anti-Rand bloggers who are actively trying to dissuade his support. They know that the daily paul happens to be the marching grounds of those who rally in support. They are hoping that this issue can be used as a wedge to wane allegiance to his Senate run.

Those who remain skeptical to this suggestion, need only remember what happened during the Bob Barr press conference snub, where suddenly new Daily Paul users were actively trying to divide us during the primary season.

Rand

must also behave like he understands his base and support. That is really important. I hope he gets that.

I'm

Happy someone took the watch while I slept. I feared this place would be overrun with grayson trolls by morning. Good job to all those who stood watch and heeded the call.

Thank you Patriot for making this thread.

I have been supporting RON Paul and posting here for years

But the reason I support Ron is that he has PRINCIPLES
(which Rand obviously lacks).
You know - stuff like innocent until proven guilty -
little stuff like that.
But by standing for principles (instead of personalities), we are labeled "sock puppets" ?
Oh well, at least I am not some politician's HACK.
The guy's a neocon - get over it and find someone else to
lead you.

i'm interested in anything a

i'm interested in anything a dailypaul oldtimer has to say.

if it those few sentences from Rand bother you, well they bother me too.

But I'm patient. I can wait to see what shakes out. And yes it may get heated.

What I won't put up with is a bunch of 2 day old accounts coming on here and piling on.

I'll bring out the flame thrower so quick they won't know what hit them.

If someone is trying to build "the big picture" on Rand, then you got a mountain of stuff on one hand including his dad, his expressed views on videos, soundclips etc ...then in the other hand, I've got a few sentences on his website.

The big picture is somewhat altered. But it's not overwhelmingly altered. What I would like to hear is more from Rand. Explain those statements.

as long as you decide to label someone a neocon over a handful of sentences, then i think people will label you a sock puppet.

it's a little premature in labeling Rand Paul a neocon. and I'm understating that.

but I'm being polite. think about giving it some time.

what's the worst that can happen?

the country goes down the shitter anyway?

Someone Better tell Ron

Because he endorsed Rand Paul. And Schiff; and God only know what Schiff's stance on this is.

The old 'Lesser of two evils' - Extraordinary! (NOT)

Other than that Rand is JAR*

Whatever

Get me to me when the Losertarians win an election.

This is NOT a horserace

.

Remember the stocking camera man

Grayson is scared, The GOP don't know what to do, so they try to divide and concur.

Probably (Grayson scared).

But Rand didn't have the balls to stand up to the neocons. Perhaps The Party will warm up to Rand now.

Sock puppets.

Are weasels. Greed over Freedom for All.. Sad bunch of people they are.

look at all these new names

they're glowing

and, now, the trolls are burying themselves.

keep it up, fuzzballs. i want everyone to see this, so it is easier to identify next time.

What's your point, be suspicious of everyone

who takes issue with Rand Paul?

I don't care, at this point, what the anti-Rand bloggers do. People with discernment won't be swayed by anything but credible sources and their own moral compass. If the anit-Rand army is having a field day.. oh well! Nothing we can do about it.

I don't support politicians who are in favor of destroying a foreign country and can't even tell me why they want to. I don't support politicians who want to keep Gitmo open. I don't support politicians who want insane people like Sarah Palin representing them. I don't support Rand Paul.

Wish I didn't have to say it but HE is the one who broke from his father. After saying he wasn't that different.

I don't think he's trying to encourage a witchhunt...

...but rather to make people aware of some of the strange things that are being observed.

Lots of people are upset, myself included. But there appear to be some who have little or nothing to contribute who seem to only become active to bash and egg on a divide.

I agree that some infiltrators have arrived

to make hay out of this issue.

But, there's no getting around the fact that Rand gave them a big box of ammo to use, with his statements.

Supporting Rand over Grayson is an easy choice.

Going any further than that, is now a big question mark.

Slip-sliding away.

Some

people are legitimately upset, and as you stated, some infiltrators have arrived to make hay out of this issue. There are also some "old-timer" regular posters here whose motives I have questioned for some time, who are now showing their true colors, imo...

I have noticed

clearly, that nearly all of the "known neocons" on this forum have lined-up behind this news.
And some more have showed up new.
And some others who've been here for a long time, also seem to be very accepting of neocon doctrine being espoused as well.

I'm sure you're right, that there are more than are easily noticed.
But, perhaps some are just ignorant of the fact that if it can be done to one, it can be done to all. Today, it's KSM. Tomorrow, it's anybody else they want to target.
That seems to escape the people looking for unconstitutional retribution, based on their emotional positions.

now the problem is this.. My Sierra name was banned because I would go after these types.. now I just kinda sit back and pick my shots with more control... by all those "bannings" it lets the true idiot trolls run free..

Yes,I know.

It's just one of the mysteries of the DP.
But, we're playing in this sandbox, so that's the way it is.

At least you're back on now.
I don't hold back much.
Maybe I'll get banned someday too.

Exactly

Let's stop ignoring the turd in the middle of the room. I am not an absolutist about this issue because I like Rand and think he has potential. Our representatives make mistakes just like the rest of us. I think with a little education Rand will come around. My problem is with those impeding on this process by lumping those making criticisms with those who want to harm the campaign or what I believe are some Grayson supporters trying to stir the pot. Can we not be civil and approach Rand as DP'ers with an open letter about these issues. I would love to see a dialog between us and the campaign. I have not given up on Rand but he's got some splainin' to do.

Well said

If "Rand over Grayson" is the question, that is one thing. I am on the question "Is it morally correct for me to participate in an election that I know is utter fraud, start to finish?"
This Rand news makes the question I am working on much more pressing.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

That's kind of where I am.

Supporting Trey Greyson is not an option for me....but not participating is.

That's where I was before I got enthused about Ron Paul.

You're Welcome to Your Opinion

However silly and ridiculous it may be. However, I can't take you seriously when you claim that the backlash is "disproportionate" to the damage done. His statement about Guantanamo is built upon the Bush-like premise that the Constitution is just a piece of inapplicable, impotent paper. That he rejects its limiting powers on the actions of the federal government is the ultimate sacrilege.

I can and will no longer support him, and I disavow him entirely. He seems to be every bit as bad as what we've already got in Washington. Today he doesn't believe the Constitution applies to federally-held prisoners of foreign origin. With the erosion of moral values so prevalent in Congressional officeholders, who knows what travesty tomorrow may bring. I only know it would be bad. He won't be getting into office with any more of my help, that's for sure.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

You got to be joking. Do you really want to vote for NEO-CON!

Conspiratorial nonsense and Civil liberties

First, what's troubling about your message is that it begins by impugning the character and motives of those people who find fault with Rand Paul's willingness to toe the establishment line, assuming people who disagree are trying to divide us. Maybe Rand Paul, by adopting a repugnant perspective, is dividing us. Maybe prisoners (presumed to be innocent), should be tried in a real court.

I've donated to Rand, but his abrogation of the basic principles of civil liberties in an effort to ensure his appeal to neo-con voters is certainly a valid basis to suspect his candidacy.

You can trenchantly argue that the only thing really separating Dr. Paul (the elder) from the average politician is his genuine adherence to principles, especially civil liberties.

Civil liberties are the backbone of democracy, and the willingness of Rand, first of all to dismiss the basic presumption of innocence that we apply to prisoners who have not been convicted and assume their guilt, and second, to be willing to secure that guilt by means of Kangaroo courts that are designed to secure convictions, not truth, is more than a little disturbing.

Sock puppet present and accounted for..

My intention is certainly not to derail a political campaign; in reality I wish my "opinion" had that type of power because Ron Paul would be president today if that were the case. I guess after supporting Rand it is a little disheartening for me personally to see him pander to big coal, especially when they have caused so much heart ache and pain for the local communities that do not have the ability to line the pockets of politicians and hence have no voice. The video is also a let down for me, as the PR for big coal points out the newly grown grassy field where a mountain once stood, and the elk herd grazing near by, but the reality is even in Chernobyl the grass has returned and the animal population is back, would you like a deer steak from there, or perhaps a tomato grown from that soil?
Chernobyl today:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/bigphotos/images/060...

I wish all the best to Rand and still hope he beats out the status quo as it couldn’t get any worse for the locals. I just want him to speak with the communities and private property owners in the area that these mines and techniques have affected before making a bold statement such as "I can’t see why anyone would be against this type of mining" (I guess Rand hasn’t spoken to the hundreds if not thousands of miners out of work due to this technique) but perhaps to get elected in Kentucky one must pander to big coal, and personally if that were the case I would not be interested in a political position in that state, but that is where my principles lie and I probably shouldn’t expect the same from someone else even if it is Ron Paul's son.

As someone who was born and raised in the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina I can say that when the mountains are decimated up North, they will not hesitate to head south for new veins, and for anyone that has visited the Smokey Mountains, take a second to imagine the Politicians sell the public on the new and improved Smokey Plains of Tennessee. This is a reality, and the more they allow this type of mining the less jobs for the locals will be available for a once job rich area, now littered with heavy equipment and few jobs if any due to the destruction of these mountain ranges. I am not an activist, but this issue is one that hits close to home and when government allows people to suffer and die for profit I can no longer stand for that type of governing.

Don’t take my word as this opinion is simply my own, but like anything else I urge you to take a brief look at the citizens affected by this and decide for yourself. Many resources are out there, but here is a good place to start.

Then if this catches your attention prepare yourself and take a look at the following site and see what big government, big coal, and corrupt local politicians have caused and continue to support while the lives of the innocent are destroyed in our once great nation.

On another web site

I was called a sock puppet and it really hurt. You know why, I was called a sock puppet because I agree with the Ron Paul articles, it was on Newsvine, during the election. It was so weird, someone just blasted me because I would agree with certain articles. lol The articles were like the ones on this web site. When I came to the Daily Paul I felt like hurray, there is a place for me and I won't be called a sock puppet. lol

troy, I know your probably right that there is such a thing as sock puppets but we have to be careful. If there are sock puppets let them have their say, because if we called one sincere person with sincere concerns a sock puppet it would be wrong. I know how it feels.

Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.

certainly there is genuine dissent in Rand's new position

and, i especially agree with the dissent, myself.

but if you take the sum of all the recent posts about Rand, and lay the data out on a pie chart, you will see a radical disproportionate spike from new accounts and old dormant accounts that never been so vociferous in their daily paul lives.

so i think it's important to see this, and to not allow ourselves to be persuaded by the imaginary opposition. to let it go without even mentioning it would help prop up the very illusion that these writers are hoping to create.
