Inflation
An audit of the Fed will cause drastic dollar depreciation; it might bring down the dollar. It isn't that we shouldn't audit the Fed, it is that by auditing the Fed that everyone will see how much money has been "printed". Which is what they are trying to keep secret - the Fed operates in secret because its policies depend on the people not perceiving drastic fluctuations in the money supply. Once people see that the Fed has handed out 10-20 trillion dollars to "shore-up" bad debt one top of what is already in circulation, the dollar will be worthless. The only reason it isn't worthless now is because no one really knows how much there is.
But it was bad policy that is the source of the problem, however, Ron Paul and all of us will be blamed for the collapse of the dollar. Besides, I doubt they even have kept any of the records beyond a decade or so. Why leave them laying around if nobody ever looked at them? Do you think that the people who killed Kennedy have a filing cabinet full of documentation detailing the event? Of course they don't and the Fed doesn't have any records detailing their transactions. All this audit will do is show that the Fed isn't keeping records and most people aren't going to care. They aren't required to keep and they don't because it would only criminalize them.
But in the event that there is some information uncovered this is something that needs to be addressed so that the tables aren't turned on us.

Wow, this is outrages. They are implying that the Paul Amendment could cause inflation. Just imagine, when inflation finally hits the streets, they'll try to turn RP into a scapegoat. I'm mad.
