(On Rand Paul) For the record, I played a dirty trick on GOP forums.

Ok, I admit it. In 2007, when Huckabee was picking up steam and picking up support from people who should have been behind Dr Paul (homeschoolers, Christian constitutionalists, principled conservatives) I decided to set up a pro-Huckabee profile on a GOP forum. I was never dishonest, just pointing out all that Huckabee stood for and showing how much of a non conservative he was (homeschooling, illegal immigration, big govt programs). I think my best quote was something along the lines of, "We are not a party to be defined by the conservatism of Goldwater." Oh that made them mad...and really turned people off who maybe were wooed by his humorous and smooth talking ways.

Let us all keep our cool right now. If you want to quit on Rand, go ahead and quit...and go away. But to stick around and promote others to quit on him...makes me wonder....

"that was a close one. I discovered 7 or 8 posters on the daily paul who just joined or had sock accounts that were sitting for 2 years. with zero posts. only harping on this thing and trying to hurt Rand Paul among his dad's supporters"

Beware the trolls.

Quit on Rand?

I would say that some of us who would like Rand to address this issue head on really believe he'll see the light. I have hope that Rand understands the philosophy that I believed most of us adhered to here. I find it most disheartening when I see people attack those making valid points and criticisms. If I make a mistake at my job and own up to it, I don't immediately think my boss will give up on me. I expect that since I have a good track record I might be able to turn things around and remedy the problem. Its like Ron says, it is our responsibility to correct the mistake. Rand has time to address this disconnect and speak about the future instead of focusing on the past and what he would have done back then. When people post about Rand and his foreign policy statements, at least in my eyes they are saying, "Rand, you could be a stronger candidate if you support the liberty planks and move away from the policies that have brought us to our current state." I think a candidate who is a non-interventionist and explains his positions logically has more momentum than the usual Party brand that we are all used to. A brand that sounds hypocritical when they denounce stimulus and bailouts but by the same measure supports endless war and occupation that has accomplished nothing for us but has bled us dry.
