What a long, technical research paper.
Did you read through it, I only scanned and only vaguely got the idea that positive results were obtained. If you understood it clearly, how about a brief summary using less scientific jargon for those of us non-scientists?
This is the "key" statement:
"Most drugs of abuse examined to date decrease adult hippocampal neurogenesis, but the effects of cannabis (marijuana or cannabinoids) on hippocampal neurogenesis remain unknown. This study aimed at investigating the potential regulatory capacity of the potent synthetic cannabinoid HU210 on hippocampal neurogenesis and its possible correlation with behavioral change."
I speed read the paper, but what I got out of it was the "happiness" button gets pushed, or not pushed. Meditation, sex may push this "button" the hyppocampal. Funny name eh, "hippo - camp - pal"
Anyways, the paper "proofs" it's theory that cannabis adjust emotions towards positive behavioral change by observing the "feel good molecules" to pet, or not pet the hippo.
Works for me!

Marijuana is still classified as a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance I think because it has "No Recognized Medical Use" and "Lack of Safety."
But alcohol on the other hand is not listed and it kills millions of people a year from illness, driving accidents, violence, depression. Here is an article from June; 1 in 25 people worldwide die from alcohol related causes:

The Nixon administration started some terrible policies and they created the Drug War; although I think hemp was outlawed in 1920s in the Harrison Act.
Let's not forget the CIA was proven to be shipping in Cocaine during the Regan years (the criminal Oliver North didn't even get a slap on the hand) and now the U.S. Government oversees an increase in heroin output from the Afghans.
They took our freedom away before I was born but I'm here to get it back!
