I didn't know

how brainwashed I was until I got rid of the TV 9 years ago

Disconnected cable since 2002

Bought a 'Two out at a time' Movie Pass from Blockbuster so I can watch only what I want to watch. I was at my sister's house last year when she had the TV on. It gave me a headache and made me dizzy. I am so glad I unplugged the tube.

Solution to tyranny: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi

“Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information and religions destroy spirituality”

I killed mine decades ago

I grew up in a typical American household with a television. But when I went to college 30 years ago (MIT) I was too damn busy to watch any TV. After I got out I saw no reason to pick up the habit again so have never owned a television.

I own a nice stereo, a high end computer, and hundreds and hundreds of books. But no TV. Nobody ever goes to his deathbed wishing he had watched more television.

TV Comedy

I still like to check the occasional piece of satire to break the depressive NWO agenda happening around me. Funniest shows are ABCBSNBSFOX news that pretend they are talking about important issues that we all care about. Cracks me up. But then I get all depressed again the next day when people are talking about them like they are real and important. Reminds me of the Colbert WH correspondence dinner where 90% there didn't even seem to realize he was being satirical.

Yep

I don't miss TV at all and have become quite sensitive to it ... for example: when at a friends house, if the TV is on, I find it very annoying and unpleasant. The friends are numb to it, however, to them it's just "background noise".

No cable TV for seven months.

There have only been a half-dozen times I would have watched if I was hooked up.

New Hampshire and Ecuador

Have hardly seen any TV in a year, but when I do see it, it

consists of the same old reruns.

I DO wonder about the penguin though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwTqC2T6q4E

Yep: I'm without & don't miss it.

Re-reading 1984, and next will be the Fountainhead. I sometimes listen to radio, exercise regularly and eat healthy food. I feel much better. You Tube is as close as I get to TV.

TV is trash.
Note the alliteration.

Me. It's pure garbage.

Me. It's pure garbage.

Here!

Haven't had cable since 2000. And I'm still alive and kicking. Haven't watched tv since the switch. I have a computer that has audio/video capability. And access to an endless stream of national and international information.

Besides if I like the show, I can buy or rent the DVD. Do I miss sports? That's what online subscriptions are for. Do I miss anything else. Nope.

It is the opiate of the masses

Haven't had one for many years.

Not on purpose,

but I'm not in a hurry to resuscitate.

Damn straight!

I think you guys will like my book. In it, the television is basically the "main bad-guy" (although it also argues that, if we were to wrestle control of our media back ala DailyPaul and independent news sites, it could be the strongest weapon in OUR arsenal against tyranny).

Killed the TV?

HMM.. Lets see... I have smash one, thrown one out the front door to the walkway, and actually shot one. But there are plenty of them left. I have never bought a new one and still have quite a few in the attack from when all my friends and neighbors just have to have the newest, the biggest, and best. I manage to get their old ones.

I'm jealous

You got to shoot a TV? Since the analog/digital switch I see a lot of TVs out for trash and I want to smash them all.
One of my happiest moments was taking a TV out of someone's trash and gutting it. I kept the empty plastic shell as a decoration. Sometimes I just look at the now-harmless thing and smile.

I still have mine but

I still have mine but literally never watch it. Maybe if I fix something to eat in the middle of the night I will catch an old episode of Married with Children or something. Occasionally a movie, lately 1984 and demolition man came on which I watched. Besides that all the channels are pure horse manure. It is quite funny hearing the history channel talk about 'conspiracy theories'...after every few sentences they say in this odd voice something like ..."Could it be true.....?" and not to mention the word conspiracy thrown in about 650 times during one show to connect it with the topic for the viewer. Oh and I really enjoy the new age science channel and the GREEN network, it really helps me control my carbon output. Oh and that last sentence was sarcasm folks

I actually had no choice ,I was growing some of God's little

treats and the electric bill would have broke 300.00 per month . In Alaska like elsewhere big brother monitors electric bills just in case on of THEIR slaves get out of pocket. We are The Remnant

we are the Remnant

I've gone ten years without TV

And wonder how I ever tolerated it.

I am seriously considering disconnecting my cable TV

at the end of the month which means no more TV in the remote area in Colorado for me. :)

I have no broadcast TV

I spent the week end in KC, KS with the person I was staying with had a digital TV box and had broadcast TV, at times you could actually hear some feedback through the box.
It makes me wonder.

Thanks, thief.

Mine was miraculously killed for me.

I bought a new, wide screen TV. I set it up just in time to hear that OJ Simpson was acquitted. That was 1995, says Wikipedia. The next day while I was at work, a man acquired the TV, my stereo, and my CD collection. A neighbor kid watched him do it. Poor thing was only four, and she was terrified talking to the police. (At the time, I did not know better than to call them.) Given the timing, I figure the thief either worked at the electronics store or knew someone who did. He stepped around about 30 thousand dollars worth of high quality vintage saxophones. I have since moved those to a safer place.

I had the TV replaced, but the replacement was defective. While I was TV-less, I noticed something. I got a lot of good things done. I read more and practiced the sax more. So I decided not to replace the replacement right away. I'd give it a week or two.

I have yet to replace it. But I did build a very nice stereo system. With my new free time, I was able to learn the math and write a simulator for sealed, ported, and passive radiator loudspeakers, design the cabinets and cross-overs, and build it. It is far superior to the one I had before, or any that I could have bought for 10 times the price of the parts.

Thanks, thief.

I like your story

I like your story. Proof that sometimes bad people do good things despite themselves.

Havent had television service since 1987...

We had only seen movies on VHS and DVD for 20 years. Over the last two years, since becoming hooked on Ron Paul.... I've watched more "television" via YouTube than I have in 22 years!
