*Obama popularity below 50 percent for first time: poll*
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama's job approval rating has dipped below 50 percent nationally for the first time, as Americans worry about the war in Afghanistan, a new poll released Wednesday found.
The Quinnipiac University poll showed 48 percent of Americans approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president, compared to 42 percent who disapprove.
The president also scored low marks from Americans on his handling of the situation in Afghanistan, with just 38 percent saying they approved of his approach, but a majority did say it was the "right thing" for US troops to be in the country.
Obama is in the process of picking a new strategy for the conflict in Afghanistan and weighing a request from his top commander in the country, General Stanley McChrystal, for an additional 40,000 troops.
The poll showed Americans favor, by a small margin, the dispatch of those reinforcements to Afghanistan, with 47 percent saying Obama should approve the increase, compared to 42 percent who opposed it.,,,,(More on this story in link below)

Approve the increase for what purpose? Has anyone stated what would mark the end of the occupation? Have the American people lost their minds? With no end goal, less than 100 Al-queda in country and no Osama what the hell are we there for? Can anyone tell me what our purpose in Afghanistan or Iraq actually is at this point? Can anyone answer this or are American satisfied in throwing their childrens future in the pot so much that they will actually allow this to continue with no end in sight? The question being asked should not be should we send 40K more troops, but why are the troops that are there, there? Perhaps I am crazy, but I think Americans today will be looked at through history as the most ignorant in global history.

Some 47 percent of these people/idiots still think that...
there are weapons of mass destruction, and that Osama bin Laden is still alive, and living in the caves of Afganistan. I can see why the world thinks Americans are so dumb, they tend to believe the garbage that the government, and the media puts out. I am so done with all of this crap, I just wish these warmongering fools would get a wake up call, somehow, someway, but they have been brainwashed.
