Did you know that LA sits on top of the third largest oil field in the country? Did you know oil rigs are scattered covertly throughout the city, placed near schools, malls and even a farmer's market?

They got an area there called the La Bera tar pits. It's a little lake made of, well, er a tar........

Anywayz, if ya ever get a chance to see some ole pictures from the 30's & 40's of the area you can see thousands of wells that once stood there.

There all caped off and covered now and you'd never even know that they were once there.

I also recall a lawsuit (class action?) about a cluster of cancers arising in students who attended a school (Beverly Hills?) that has one of these rigs on the property.
