Trey Grayson attacked Rand on the issue because he knew it would be divisive. Trey new Paul either had to say one thing, and make the people of Kentucky very unhappy, or say another thing and cause problems in much of his national base.

Please read the two articles I've put together. This is definitely a very well orchestrated event by the Trey Grayson camp. And Rand, being a little green to the political process simply had trouble with handling it.

Clinton backer turned GOPer Grayson calling Rand Paul a "flip flopper"

Remember people, this is why we LIKE Rand, because he ISN'T a career politician, but that means he's going to make a mistake now and then.

Tell Rand.

He didn't HAVE to represent himself as a Ron Paul Republican...didn't have to get involved with our movement whatsoever, and become a divisive issue. Yet he claimed to be one of us. Now it seems Rand has no reservations about doing his own thing and ignoring what we stand for. So this confuses people...is he one of us? Or not? What is his relationship to us? Will he represent US, or is he intent on becoming whatever he perceives as the Kentucky Republicans' ideal candidate? Suffice it to say there is a big difference between your typical KY Republican and your typical Ron Paul Revolutionary

We keep hearing from his campaign that we, the grassroots, are ONLY 25% of his support. I wonder where that figure came from; it ignores the fact that without the grassroots, his father would probably have as much media coverage nowadays as Fred Thompson, and he, in turn, would have as much coverage as Fred Thompson's son could expect. So he can thank us for the media attention. Saying we are just 25% seems kind of thankless.

Is Rand a Ron Paul Republican as we have come to understand that term? It's not clear that he is, at this point. He can still be a good senator without that distinction....I guess.....but if he doesn't live up to that standard, it shouldn't be conferred on him by inheritance. He will only become a divisive issue in the long run if he wins the senate, proceeds to vote and talk like a neocon, and still commands great respect in our ranks. I hope that does not happen.

...

This is Grayson's plan. I thought the DP would see through it.
