Open Letter to Obama: Please Bring Our Troops Home Now!

Mr. President:

I am writing to urge you to announce an immediate cease-fire followed by a withdrawal of all US troops from Iraq and Afghanistan in the fastest way consistent with the safety of our forces.

I urge you to end the use of Predator drones that kill civilians.

I call upon you to cease all covert operations in Africa, Asia, and North and South America.

Too many of your military advisors are implicated in torture, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes against the peace. Your Justice Department operates at the zenith of injustice, defending Bush Administration criminality in U.S. Courtrooms.

I wrote to you earlier suggesting that if you did not investigate the crimes of the Bush Administration, you would be viewed as their accessory. Sadly, war crimes and torture are now committed with your name on them.

Please bring our troops home now.

A peace demonstration is being organized for December 12, 2009 in Washington, D.C. The Emergency Anti-Escalation Rally, also known as the End US Wars Rally, is scheduled for 11am at Lafayette Park at the White House. I wholly endorse this rally and encourage all who can to participate in Washington, DC or to help a local peace organization committed to ending U.S. wars on that date.

Rally organizers have put together a roster of speakers that include consumer advocate Ralph Nader, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, former Rep. Cynthia McKinney, former Sen. Mike Gravel, Kathy Kelly, Chris Hedges, David Swanson, Gael Murphy, Debra Sweet, and others opposed to current U.S. war policies in the Middle East.

He was invited to speak but already had engagement in TX. This thread has been struggling to stay bumped for 3 weeks to get assistance in helping to spread the word! Adam was alerted but needed help getting to DC. Some YAL did show up as well as some from the Liberty movement but CFL and YAL have not signed on as supporting groups and I have called and emailed several times as well as others. Hopefully there will be more activism interest from the DP for the one in March!

we had a great opportunity to spread our ideas to others opposed to Obama wars...

and another thing that is driving me crazy at the moment is lack of media coverage of Oath Keepers! no press no TV coverage...

and of course the rapid fall in traffic on Daily Paul - pre-Christmas Apathy!

had more to do with the constant divisive topics on active list that were overwhelming/sliding other topics for two months now! Hopefully that problem has been alleviated by Michael stepping in and giving a cyber spanking to those involved!~lol!

Please don't take this wrong but is anyone else disheartened by how few seem to be speaking out against expanding the war?

I mean say what you will, Bush could point to 9/11 and the Bogeyman of Saddam and WMD, but still generated substantial opposition while Obama without a shred of even manufactured justification, gets nearly carte blanche.

the March anti-war rally will be much larger...for one the weather will be nicer, and the fact that 600 groups are uniting for that event.
I certainly understand what you are saying; please be aware, though, that there are many older folks who are anti-war, but cannot "do" these functions for health reasons. They are there in spirit, though. Some, young and old alike, participate in other ways, behind-the-scenes.

Just drove home from DC rally against wars -

A good beginning of peace protests to come, I believe. Glad we were there to hear Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney and her son Coy, Ralph Nader, former Senator Gravell and many other inspirational speakers. A beautiful day with a small turnout of about 300 people or so, from all walks of life, young and old, but our hopes are this rally is the start of more people speaking out against what's going on in Washington. YAL was there and a few Ron Paul 2012 signs were present, and an Oathkeeper promise was given to us, personally. All in all a good message.

I'm so happy you were able to go and also to hear some of YAL were there too! Hopefully the next one will be 3,000 and then 10,000!!!

I heard there is another one planned in March..so there will be plenty of time to get Ron Paul committed to speak and more people from the Liberty movement to show up!!

These coalitions however have to show up. I often see that so many hundred sign on but few actually go. I think the March 20th rally should be made a priority for anyone committed to see these wars end. We had a modest turn out at the rally in my town but it was good to see a few young people out holding signs. That is really rare to see in this college town. It must not be popular to protest. I saw an old boss who is now a police officer walk by me. He served in Iraq, retired, and I've never got a sense that he was opposed to the it. He smiled at me when he passed by. Popularity stops people from doing what is right often. It is a true test to put yourself out there for your neighbors to see. Thanks to everyone who participated today! Thanks for the news in DC Qwerk. We have our work cut out for us.

for over a year now!! There is a HUGE opportunity to grow our movement with the disenfranchised left, independents and others besides the neocon GOP! The anti war issue is a perfect opportunity to form coalitions and differ ourselves from the warmongers! Very good speakers ..I am listening to the 3rd one now!

For all those that participated today I have respect for them speaking up on this issue! Too bad Dr.Paul had previous engagements in TX because they wanted him to speak also!

I hope for next time (in March there is another one being planned) there will be more in the Liberty movement that have more interest in participating. CFL and YAL did not sign on as one of the groups supporting the event and that is disappointing.

It is a great opportunity to reach out to the disenfranchised left and differ ourselves from the neocons! I know there were some here planning on going so we should hear some news soon!!
