The ONLY way that gold could drop relative to fiat currency is if central bankers decided to contract their balance sheets by:
1. Selling the financial instruments they own.
2. Raising interests rates very sharply.
Neither of those "solutions" sounds politically expedient to me, so I think that central bankers are more likely to inflate, sending gold even higher.
Personally, I'm hedging my bets. I have some of my savings in physical gold/silver. Some in the local fiat currency (sterling).
That way, whatever the Fed, ECB and BoE decide to do, I am (somewhat) insulated against loss.

And I wonder about this too.
But if you look at a 40 year chart of gold, it keeps going up - although there are dips that sometimes last for years.
But over time it is a rising line.
We know that inflation is a fact of life, so the price of commodities (like gold) simply MUST rise (unless there is a corresponding rise in production of those commodities, but they cannot mine gold as fast as they can print money).
This truth is based on the LAWS OF ECONOMICS which are as solid as the laws of physics.

Funny how these things turn out. The Bank of England dumped 600 tons of gold a couple of years ago, swearing its reserves were useless. Now India's buying it up. I'm sure the BoE people did their research and the numbers looked fine. I refuse to trust other peoples' work, but rather trust human behavior: rats will run from the sinking ship, but what if its a submarine? That is to say, supposing the captains of the good ship "Goldbubble" intend to sink it by cashing in on a massive short sale, perhaps the biggest one ever???

it is cranberry concentrate. The article they flashed was about a different product. Here it is.
The National Consumers League, based in Washington, D.C., sent a letter Tuesday to the US Food and Drug Administration, asking it to investigate the labeling of the Lakeville cooperative’s “Choice’’ brand. The group alleges that Ocean Spray sells the food as “sweetened dried cranberry’’ but that it has more sugar than real fruit and is made from cranberry skins and not whole cranberries.

Does anybody have any advice or stories to share in how to convince your family members to move their savings into gold, silver, and food commodities?
Also, gold and silver specie are no brainers, but does anyone have any thoughts about the ability to redeem food commodity holdings in a condition of martial law or other, similar "emergency" situation?

In regard to purchasing food and necessities in a disaster: I would not rely on any currency including gold and silver, instead make sure you have what you will need stored up. Gold and silver should simply protect the value of your current wealth.

I have had great experiences with buying silver bullion from apmex.com. Try to get the largest weight you can afford at a time to save on shipping. All you have to do to convince the wife, is tell her this is the most secure savings account you can have these days and she should go for it. As soon as you hold one of those bad boys in your hands you know it has REAL value. Good luck!
I've been buying silver coins from apmex as well. My brother turned me on to them and you're right, the feeling of holding something of REAL value has quite a charge.

when i post a video i have to go to 'edit', then copy/paste the embed stuff, then to 'imput format' where i scroll down to "full html" to make the video appear and then to 'publishing options' to put it on the 'active forum topics' or 'front page'.
log in, go to "the dollar bubble" thread and click on it and see what options come up underneath the title.
do you see - view, edit and revisions?
you need "imput format" under the body of the message and "publishing options".

It's different this time. The dollar is dead.
The central bank of India does not buy 200 tons of gold at all time highs for no reason, you can be sure they fully researched their purchase.

As adjusted for inflation, gold is still over $1000 undervalued.
The countries that produce things are buying up physical assets, the countries that have been running on paper are still trying to prop up their house of cards.

Gold and silver are insurance against the "what if" scenario.
People insure there house, car, life but not their U.S. Dollar based assets.
