An Appeal to All Catholics
Submitted by fram-rpfan on Thu, 12/06/2007 - 23:59The hour is getting late and the war is not yet won but I came up with the idea for those of us out there who are Catholic to offer a novena (9 days) of Rosaries for the success of Ron Paul. I think we could use some Divine intervention and surely a concerted effort in this regard will do what mere humans often cannot.
I refer to a famous battle of long ago....the Battle of Lepanto which was won by a small number of Christians against the huge fleet of Turkish armies.
"The Holy League credited the victory to the Virgin Mary, whose intercession with God they had implored for victory through the use of the Rosary." Taken from Wikipedia.
The enemy is fierce and is not going to let up as the primaries draw near and they become more aggressive in their attacks.
Let's show God we have not forgotten Him!
Hmmm....the ninth day ends December 16th!!

not Catholic, more deist, but maybe this would help
for talking points, anyway.

I am new
to Catholicism, yet recently married into a strong Catholic family which I greatly respect.
Can you guys a.) direct me to some online resouces for "newbies" in general and/or b.) give a few RP talking points/printouts for the inlaws during the holidays?
thanx in advance
(also feel free to also contact me through my website below)
- cheers

Recently married?
Reciently married you say?
Best advice, do not say a darn thing about Ron Paul. Do not say a darn thing about Politics or Religion!! Just SMILE...and smile a lot, be sweet and charming. Be nice at all times. ( Yes You can secretly collect email addresses with the secret plan of emailing them good Ron Paul you tube videos in JANUARY)
But Remember young Valis, you are in this for the LONG haul...so, share only tiny tiny bits of yourself over the years...let them grow to love you fully and accept you over the years before you even talk politics and religion. That is my advice... stick to the emails when you are far away and the holidays are over. On the phone or in person, never mention it... other than saying, "Oh I am sorry I thought it would interest you for some reason. I won't send another email like that, don't worry". Then don't blow up their email. Do not share that political or religious side of yourself. Leave the inlaws alone if you want them to be inlaws and have a stable marriage.

interesting advice
However my wife is a HUGE supporter. (see our photos with Dr. Paul here)
It is her family I'd like to have a few RP Catholicism "points of interest" for, as they are presently UNDECIDED.

Ask a question then, but don't answer it...
and let your wife do the Ron Paul talking...
The question: "Gee, in all the years we have had congressmen and senators and presidential candidates, were there any that held these three positions-- against abortion & against the death penalty and against having our military bases overseas? JFK maybe?"
and then just listen...
I wish you well...

Prayer Helps!
Too often,we lean on ourselves, when God is asking for us to approach him for help...Prayer and The Rosary are good ideas....Pray for Ron Paul!
Ron Paul'08
Prayer is an essential element
Prayer more than helps. It is essential. I don't mean to demean your "Prayer helps" post. It does help, as you said, but much more than that - it is essential. Without it one is only going by man's wisdom and man's power. Can man create life from nothing? God will bring this country to a fruitful future if the people look to him for it and not only to man, even if he is a great man such as Ron Paul. I believe Ron would agree with this.
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
3 Key Issues for Catholics
Because the Pope made these 3 items central during the Reagan administration right up through to Bush Jrs, these three central issues for Catholics "ought" to be:
1) The Iraq War was an Invasion, thus immoral
2) Abortion
3) The Death Penalty
These three issues are very hard to get in one candidate. Often, a pro-life person is pro-death penalty and vis versa. Ron Paul hits the Catholic Trifecta... Pro Life, Pro Life, and Pro Life. I cannot recall who else gave the voter such a clear pro life choice, if ever.
Perhaps many of you will recall in 2002 the Pope was counceling Bush NOT to invade Iraq? The Pope wrote open letters stating it would not be moral to do so. Bush did not listen.
Nor did Bush listen to his own savor, who died by the death penalty, when it came time to execute Texas death row immates.
Nor did Bush as a "Conservative" President, with a Republican House and a Republican Senate and a Conservative Supreme Court, endorse and support Ron Pauls bill that would have made Abortion a State issue, effectively ending Roe vs Wade.
If we had some slim jims that focused on these, we could pass them out at every catholic church or church parking lot.

We have the "Life and
We have the "Life and Liberty" RP slim jims and this is the plan....hush!
I Don't Understand
What you are saying when you say "hush" here....
"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom." Patrick Henry
i think...
what you have written here would be perfect for a slimjim...
