"Confessions of an Economic Hitman", by John Perkins

It is probably a silly thing to do, that is start a thread on a book that I have not yet finished.

BUT....... I am on page 168 and I cannot.... CANNOT put the book down.

Let me explain further, when I say, I CANNOT put this book down.

1) Dr Ron Paul is RIGHT NOW at 12 noon about 15 miles from my office and speaking For FREE to all the students at the campus of Arizona State University ASU. Yet I find that I Cannot pick my car keys and drive there because I cannot put the book down!

2) In addition I have WORK to do!!! Yes I have plenty of commercial real estate short sale investor files to work on my desk that must get done by Friday at 5pm, that is TODAY. YET, I CLEARED MY DESK, and have my feet up and I am reading because, I cannot put the dam thing down! Wow!

Ok, seconds ago, yes I put the book down, I grabbed my car keys and then said, "no, I must blog to my DP brothers and sisters and tell them how HARD this moment is".... and now I am logging off and picking the book back up.....

Only you on the Daily can appreciate the moment....

Great book but

it's too bad that Perkins is into Keynesianism (he thinks it is more benevolent to the lower/middle classes!). Puts TOTAL blame on Friedmanite Chicago School Supply Siders for all of our current ills but just can't seem to grasp that it was Keynesians that brought about the decoupling from the gold standard which has played a major role in where we are at now (along with regulations like CRA and the implicit guarantees of GSE's).

I haven't read the book--but . . . I saw the youtube

interview of John Perkins, where he discusses all the things he writes in the book, and it WAS powerful.

I've been studying all of this for decades, and you are correct, what he covers is not always covered in 'liberty' courses/sessions/books/tapes/videos.

He really does have a very unique, on-the-ground perspective.

I felt sorry for him, felt annoyed by him, and then was impressed by him as I watched/heard.

A lot of emotions.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

It's just about all in this book. Every strategy, every justification and every player organization.
Average Americans everywhere can figure out the globalist agenda from reading this book.

And one approach is to clean house on every D.C. politician who supports this agenda in any way.

I'm reading it now

too. Very good so far. Real eye opener on how the game is played.

That is an excellent book. I read it a few years ago, and it was a real eye opener, and a real page turner. I saw Perkins at a reading at the Harvard bookstore. He worked here in Boston.

Very credible.

I'll have you know, I went to the film opening of Liberty; watering the withered tree ......and watching, laughing, cheering the film, towards the end, when they interviewed you and your eyes welled up ...suddenly I choked up too.

Here is more for those you just don't like to read....

There's a couple of sentences

somewhere in that book that jumped off the page and smacked me between the eyes. Perkins says something about how, if the dollar had been kept on a standard, his activities would have literally been impossible.

"Secret History of the

"Secret History of the American Empire" is his follow-up, which is very good too. He has a new one out that I haven't read yet.

I don't think I got to page 168, and I couldn't pick it up. Maybe I'll give it another go.
