China vs the U.S. - The Battle for Oil
Submitted by We the People on Sun, 12/06/2009 - 09:55
The figures speak for themselves. Today, China is the second largest consumer of oil, just behind the United States. China's growth rate is one of the highest on Earth.
China's energy needs have increased seven-fold and it's reserves are dwindling. China has to import half it's oil needs. In three years time, the figure will be two thirds. Without that oil, China's whole economy will grind to a halt.
So, China must find and secure new sources of supply for oil, all in an increasingly unstable world. In this crusade for black gold, China is already jostling with the super power that for now is still the primary consumer of oil, the United States. The battle for oil has begun.

I know a guy that
has worked for Exxon as a Geologist for 30 years and just got back from Nigeria. He said the Chinese are ruthless. They don't care if it turns a country to civil war or how many get killed in the process. THEY WANT THE OIL. He said the U.S. attempts to jump through the appropriate hoops but China doesn't give a F**k!
"Without that oil, China's
"Without that oil, China's whole economy will grind to a halt."
China's economy is going to grind to a halt because they are busy blowing a MASSIVE bubble.
Small problem...
The massive bubble they are blowing is called the US Dollar.
They're doing that for a reason.
If you want to get into China and oil, look no further than Africa.
They have already found what they need... thier only issue is these pesky Exxon/Conico-Phillips people. They've already paid off Shell, btw.
So they need to get the two American companies out of the fray.. wonder how they're going to do that?
LOL

The massive bubble is the world's currency...
So they can institute a far worse proposition, a "GLOBAL" currency run by an international extortion friendly government.
Global Federal Reserve is the reason for dumping the dollar.
Not by overproduction that's
Not by overproduction that's for damn sure. That only sets them up for an even larger contraction down the line.
You're missing a point...
The next bubble to pop is the USDX.
China's going to do it.
They've been getting oil contracts in Africa since the 70's.
Oop.. Oh right. Africa has been in upheaval because the Brits left...
Not because of the billions that Shell/Exxon has been putting against BP/China for control of a wellhead.
There are whole gangs in Africa that specialize in tapping oil pipelines and selling the spillage.
We and England and Russia and China pay them to do it.. against each other.
On a bigger note, China seems to have, in a very nice Monopoly move, pwned us. They are the bank.
So China will get thier oil.. as will Japan, Russia and a hearty ~WAVE~ to BRIC!
We'll be falling back on our stuff and kinda upset that the dollar is now worth.... lemme see.
Nothing.

Most of our oil reserves
have been rendered as unusable by EPA standards,Much of it is too high in sulphur content. We have not yet built refineries that can remove the sulphur.Environmentalists will not let us build new refineries at all!
All the oil from the Alaskan Pipeline is sold to Japan and other countries,Too much Sulphur.

Why aren't we using it?
Just curious what your theory about that is...

We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner
We can't pay the cost
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
Um...
Because it's not about what we use or who we buy it from.. it is all about how other people buy it.
I lived in a town once in upper British Columbia that has 56 capped oil wells around it. Bigass American refinery there too... that didn't ever do anything but keep the computers running.
That was 20 years ago.. my old friends there tell me it's the same now as it was then.. :)
The thing I'm odded out about is nobody talking about the 30-year war between China, Russia and ourselves in Africa.
That's where the real action has been for ages... and I don't mean Qatar.

no reply from Bad_K?
He's the most opinionated about it, thought he'd reply by now...
My guess -- and though I work in the oil industry, I have no inside info -- is that all of this oil that we have is in shales, not sands, and is very difficult -- translate to expensive -- to extract. Oil needs to have a much higher price per barrel to make it economically feasible to produce. If oil goes up over $100, you can bet they'll be producing the heck out of that Bakken Formation up in the Dakotas and surrounding states...
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
If it's true, maybe to use up everyone else's oil first?
I don't know if it's true though.

Maybe.
Maybe our government should allow free markets.

I have heard there is 8
I have heard there is 8 trillion worth of oil in Afghanistan... is that the main reason why we are there?

There are plans to run an oil pipeline through Afghanistan.
"As with the proposed Central Asia oil pipeline, CentGas can not begin construction until an internationally recognized Afghanistan Government is in place."

Someone recently mentioned to me that they learned we have constructed a road there, and are protecting that road, which will be used for the pipeline...

It sounds like the plans are proceeding then.

very interesting video
Brazil and China now conduct trade in their own currencies, they Real and Yaun, bypassing completely the US dollar.
Brazil has huge oil reserves.
I suspect that soon there will be a new axis of evil running through Calgary, Cuba, Caracas & Curitiba....

And even if it doesn't strike, we will preemptively stop it.
