Anti illegal immigrant Libertarian....

0 votes

I tend to agree with 95% of all ideas when having discussions with my fellow libertarian and constitutional conservative friends and people I meet with similar ideologies. One thing that we always debate is immigration. Many libertarians are pro open borders and I have semi arrogantly said on this forum that nobody will win a debate on illegal immigration with me. I am absolutely against it in every way!

Have any of you also noticed that the Southern Avenger is so DEAD ON 99.99% of the time?! Well, I found this little bit and I think it really holds my arguments, but with a different light than I tend to argue.

Open Borders

I don't really have a problem with the open borders people so long as we do away with the right to vote (Federally) and do away with the Federal Government entirely.

If it's just a scheme by the Democrats to get more voters, then I don't support that though.

I do like the idea of a balkanized nation though that can't agree on anything so as to prevent nationalism and patriotism as a concept, but that doesn't mean we need to reward law breakers just to help the Democrats.

DON'T fall for the Guiliani national I.D. card stuff or Federal regulation of employment as a solution. The Federal government just wants CONTROL. The Democrats want amnesty, and the republicans want to regulate the heck out of everyone as a supposed way to prevent it in the future. I don't think that's a good trade.

Better to oppose amnesty and big government.

I don't think the open borders people are "arrogant" though since I think it's a reasonable way to think about things.

Call it what it is..

ILLEGAL immigration...the pro-NWO folks never use the word ILLEGAL when describing this

Bump

I agree....

Immigration

I really do not think anybody will like what a crowd of 450-500 million people will look like and do to the standard of living we have been accustomed to in this country. In my opinion it might be time to start being a little selfish as to the number of both legal and illegal immigrants that are allowed in. Massive overpopulation of other countries and regions may be heart rending but it still is their problem and responsibility and not ours.

Only some anarchists are

Only some anarchists are really pro open borders, because they want to undermine the nation-state at any cost. Any intellectually honest libertarian will tell you that they want widespread immigration, but it should be legal. This is my view.

I'm with you 100%

Without borders we are not a nation. libertarianism does not make me a liberal, just practical.

I am NOT against LEGAL immigration, so long as the numbers do not push wages down.

Most legal immigrants who've gone though naturalization process are more patriotic than regular citizens.

Illegal immigration is just a safety valve to prevent revolution in Mexico from happening.

Dont mean to "toot my own horn"....

By "bumping my own thread", but I just wanted to bump it in prime time (I created this thread sort of late last night) to see what some of my fellow liberty lovers think. Thanks!

I agree also. A prudent man

I agree also.

A prudent man foresees the difficulties ahead and prepares for them; the simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 22:3
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to
send peace on earth: I came not to send peace,
but a sword.

I'm in agreeance.

My father got in line and went through all the proper steps to become an American citizen. It is a real slap to the face of him and others who have legally become citizens and to those who are currently waiting in line.

Bring our troops home and protect the borders!

Amen, 110%!!!

Look, my wife is Thai, my son and daughter are obviously half, my best friend is vietamese and the other is russian by heritage. However, all of them are assimilated proud Americans and they all had to do things the proper way and didnt insist to be treated like Presidential Suite holders in this fancy hotel called America.

Thats like if you owned a nice home and then a homeless man or even a poor man broke into your home. littered it up, stole a few items, had their way with your food, but then washed the dishes, so you called the cops and then the trespasser told the cop "hey! I washed the dishes!" and then the cops agreed and said there is nothing you can do about it. Give me a break! Bring the troops home and protect the boarders!
