Airlines want your money, but not your cash

If you want to buy a snack, headset or a glass of wine on your upcoming holiday flight, be sure you have plastic handy.

What until the "greenies" have their way with us.
You'll have to take out a loan to fly on the airlines that haven't gone out of business due to carbon taxes.
Banks
Some banks are charging businesses "handling" fees for depositing large amounts of cash
I wonder if it's legal for
I wonder if it's legal for merchants to refuse cash purchases.
...
yes
Yes, though I don't have a link for it. Anyone can set their policies. Anyone is free to not contract with firms that have bad policies.

they dont even have ample
they dont even have ample enough security on a plane to guard and protect some flight attendance collecting a few hundred dollars in cash.
first rule of convenience stores, dont carry cash in upfront register.
same policy being applied to airlines?
maybe the credit card companies secretly took over the airline industry sometime last year.
just thought of the real obvious reason
flight attendants are probably pocketing the cash.
making change is a pain in the butt too
I remember on many flights before, the flight attendants asking everyone if they had ones of fives. And having to sell lots of other drinks, to eventually make change for the guy who was one of the first to buy something.
It also takes their minds off other things, when they are running up and down the aisles, dealing with cash.

I can elaborate, I just flew a couple of weeks ago
I flew United, so I can only apply this info to them.
And it is absolutely true. No cash. Plastic only.
The flight attendants walked around with little card swiping machines.
I brought my own snacks. And only ask for the freebie drinks, coffee, soda, water.

kinda makes you wonder how the card swiping thingy works
thousands of feet in the air. Are these now functioning via satellite? We know cell phones don't work that high up? I am curious thats all.

This may come as a surprise
This may come as a surprise to many, but airplanes have a multitude of radios and ground communication onboard, it how they talk to the ATC, onbouard computers that talk to their Company planning department, its how they navigate, ect ect. (navigation is moving quickly towards GPS, though they still use ground located radio signals, NAV COM)

It just stores your card number and runs it when they land or at the end of the day.

Can you elaborate on why you say this?

Using only liability funds will probably get you nowhere in life
Realizing that our entire economy is based on doublebookeeping entries...stop using the liability side and learn to use the asset side. Credit cards are actually gift cards, if you understand them correctly.

I don't use plastic. Cash
I don't use plastic. Cash is king. The airlines can go to hell.
Yep
As long as one of us aren't on the plane, when it heads to the underworld. LOL.
Bad enough, the reduction in service, the long lines, etc..
Although, on the plus side, I have to admit that United has this thing called "coach plus". Where for me, an extra 25 bucks, gave me a bigger seat, and quite a bit more leg room. the flight itself was actually comfortable.
Flight attendents were still snippy, and snarky though.
