I pledge, do you?
Ummm....
for those of you who suggest that Dr. Paul should maybe dumb down his talking points...should I remind you that the 'average person' does not watch CNBC... Good Morning America, the Today Show? Maybe.
Anyway, I thought Dr. Paul did great on this show! I love it when he gets all riled up. :) All the establishment had to throw at him was the same, factually wrong arguments that this would put Congress in charge of determining interest rates, and that the auditing decision would happen immediately after a Fed decision. "You're wrong!" LOL Not true. And even when they tried to follow up on this and say that this amendment would 'lead' to an ending of the Fed, or to a control of monetary policy by an 'activist' congressman, Dr. Paul responded with a quick 'You'd have to change the law.' Spot on!
I think Dr. Paul did a very good job of pointing out Gregg's strategies of trying to shift the conversation towards End the Fed as opposed to just Audit the Fed. This is about transparency!
Keep positive. This was really good exposure for Dr. Paul. And stock brokers love Ron Paul so this was probably a nice 'remember me?' moment. :)
Rhetoric
These televised debates require rhetorical devices to "win" the argument. Television viewers are accustomed to hearing zingers, and thinking that the winner of the argument is the one who used the most zingers (this was 90% of the presidential debates). Dr. Paul has filtered out a great deal of American idiots by employing more logos rather than pathos, which puts the emphasis on policy rather than personality. I think we would all like to find an American version of Daniel Hannan, or the great dialectics of Lord Monckton in the video below, to help gain support among Americans persuaded by the cult of personality. I think this video stresses the importance of our individual responsibility in communicating the message to friends and loved ones.
reply
You will notice at the end of the segment one of the host's said "we didn't even get to discuss healthcare" well the reason for that is this was a well rehearsed deliberate hit piece by Senator Gregg playing gotcha and badgering Dr. Paul while repeatedly inserting smartass giggles and smirks. Ron let him dictate the discussion way to much he needs to go on the offensive when this happens but he more than made up for it on Morning Joe. One thing for sure is the good doctors book is having an impact along with the support for H.R. 1207 or they wouldn't be attacking like this.
Shiite!!
How many against ONE was that? Way to knock them down, Dr. Paul. Mercy, mercy. They call that hosting. I call that ambushing. For him to even point out that Dr. Paul's mic fell off was stupid, like he was saying, gee everything is going wrong for you. Are they that abrasive with everyone they have on their show?
Relate theory to our personal lives
Ron, or your campaign managers, if you're reading this, please take the advice of many.
Ron needs to immediately start talking to the people. The example below about a gas station taking two silver quarters for a gallon of gas, OR take $6 of Federal Reserve notes. Then a year later, the same amt of gas must be purchased with $10, vs the same 2 silver quarters.
Harry Browne was very good about doing this. He would always speak in terms of BENEFITS to the person.
This is what gets people salivating. You must "sell" the benefits of freedom to the people. DOING THIS will double, triple, quadruple the Liberty movement (and Ron's following) very rapidly.
Ron rarely sells the benefits of his bills and proposals. Regarding HR 1207, he'll just keep hammering the same old points, but all that "audit language" doesn't make sense to most people. It does to many who study this type of stuff, but for the average Joe who tunes in for 5 minutes, the average Joe needs to hear that the government (the Fed) has been stealing from them, reducing their money to nothing.
Ron DOES say that "the value of the dollar has been reduced by 96% since the inception of the Fed."
This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.
He needs to DRIVE THIS POINT HOME by talking examples. "Mr. Citizen, how would you like to come to my doctor's office and receive a bill for $5.00?"
Ron DID say this, and he needs to really keep repeating this. People understand this. This will get them angry.
Keep relating to the people. Talk benefits.
People want to know how their lives will improve with competing currencies and how they will benefit if the Fed is exposed for the criminal conspiracy that it is, in fact, the greatest scam and fraud ever perpetuated by the mind of man.
"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford
I would also like Dr. Paul to do more of that....
I believe the average american (and the majority of these financial hosts) really need to be educated about what inflation really means to him or her. They always seem to counter him saying "Well, look, the dollar has been relatively stable all these years! And the recession is over!" because they're living on Wall St. I like that he gave the example of doctor visit cost. I would like to hear more of that.... like: Have you noticed a loaf of bread costs about $4.00 today? Guess what it cost two years ago? Now since we're inflating the currency at an all-time historical high, guess what it will cost next year?
Dr. Paul is an excellent teacher. But really practical nuts-and-bolts examples are very enlightening, especially to people who have never grasped the concept before.
I have never seen a movement mushroom like this one has
and then stay strong and cohesive. Dr. Paul does his 'natural' thing and it works. Saying Dr. Paul 'needs' to do this or that is just unnatural for him. Maybe 'You' need to do the things you suggest.
Ron was getting flustered
Ron's credibility is damaged when he gets flustered. He should have let Gregg speak and let him finish his point, then hammer his position home about competing currency like this.
When you go to the gas station and the attendant asks how you will pay. You can give me a silver quarter for 2 gallons of gas, or you can give me 6 federal reserve notes. When you come back to the same gas station a year later, the attendant says, you can give me a silver quarter for 2 gallons of gas or you can pay me 10 federal reserve notes.
Or:
You can give me a silver dime for a half gallon of milk, or you can give me 2 federal reserve notes, and so on.
This sheds light on the dilution on the FRN.
Ron would do well to speak right to the audience when a guy like Senator Gregg spews his rhetoric. By getting flustered, it makes Ron look desperate and the other guy more credible.
The solution to all of this is Edwin Vierra's plan. Look up "The power of the sword, The power of the purse on YouTube.
“That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”
Wrong
I was very glad to see him cutting in on someone who was distorting the bill. They are afraid we will eliminate the Fed, but that is not what this bill calls for.
yeh, not the good doctor's
yeh, not the good doctor's best showing. i agree with you on ur critique of his performance. he was a bit shrill and looked desperate.
i think he did much better against the fed dude.
also, i think gregg flustered rp by twisting rp's positions. it sounded like gregg painted rp in to a corner by saying rp's doesn't want congress to manage the dollar but rp - per the constitution - wants congress to manage the dollar. or something like that.

In defense of Ron Paul.
Ron was trained as a doctor. Part of this training is a doctor patient relationship where respect is mutually understood, by all parties.
Now, many schools promote debating classes. I met one of these fools at the last tax protest I attended. I was holding my Ron Paul Hope for America sign and this guy, who said he was a lawyer, proceeded to put down Ron Paul simply as a way, in his mind, to win a debate.
I don't think he had anything against Ron Paul he just wanted to get a high grade for debating.
He won I walked away, because I got so angry I wanted to smack him in the mouth. I called him a professional agitator to his face and warned all the other Ron Paul supporters there that I knew, that this guy was apparently trying to disrupt our tax protest.
Gregg, is the same type.
Believe me when I say my dad, who went through the depression, would have belted these types into submission, to learn how to show respect to others.

Thank you CNBC!
Unfortunately it's a little too little a little too late but better late than never!
He may have been President if they had given him some backing. Imagine the MSM doing something not in their own interest but in the interest of the country they are fortunate enough to live in.
There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.

I like it.
RP needs to develop some basic bullet points
or talking points. This academic theory stuff is not effective in the dumbed down world of tv.
Ron keep it up a little longer, Ron Paul Republicans are coming!
True, our Doctor could have done better here. Surely, the establishment indeed sought their most foul mouthed Senator to kick Ron around a little. HE is actually the populist, as he was constantly interrupting Ron, getting on his nerve by misrepresenting his Bill and forcing Ron into soundbite answers.
Well, think of Ron's constant humiliation, back stabbing and other since his first day in Congress up to now, and his political loneliness. If he is not a Saint for carrying the torch of liberty, who will ever deserve being a Saint?
I think Ron would appreciate some support in Congress and Senate, not just for the one odd bill, but real liberty candidates, so that he can finally switch to a lower gear and relax a little, re-energize himself and his hopes for the futures. I hope he can motivate himself for another year or so... cuz the Ron Paul Republicans are on their way ;-)
What certainly helps as well, are all our small individual actions during the day to promote liberty. Every time we do that, we are possibly helping Ron just that little...
Good luck to all of us.

Once again, Ron Paul kicks
Once again, Ron Paul kicks ass!!!

Gregg...
is at best an idiot, at worst a treasonous criminal.
Paul needs to sharpen his skills.
Yea Sorry I know this is unpopular position. I am not saying he isn't the best, but he needs to get a bit better and really hand it to these idiots.
Its not Paul's fault they just go for the quick sound bite, but he needs to get some lines to push back against those. The people need to see him turn the tables on these guys. He knew darn well the authorities weren't just going to roll over and let him have the run of the place for an hour.
He did great! But as this bill keeps moving he isn't going to get easier opponents. Look its not about how we think he did its about how a neoconservative or progressive thought he did. Those people are extra critical of things like stumbling for words and misspoken statements.
One thing I found interesting that the 1st Pro fed guy said I need to learn. He said something about the capital requirements of banks and how they effect the stock price...its an interesting dynamic to think about.
I agree...but only to a point.
I think Ron Paul will have trouble with these types of debates now.
I think when he was younger he would have wiped the floor with this guy, but unfortunately Ron is showing his age now where he rambles and gets off track fairly easily.
With that said, for being his age...he is still pretty darn impressive.
just emailed Senator Gregg
after watching his debate with Ron Paul, here's what I wrote:
Senator Gregg:
I would like to recommend the book Fiat Money Inflation in France, by Andrew Dickson White, to you.
By simply relating the history of what happened to France in the last decade of the 18th century, this short work, published in 1875, explains our current distress.
In closing, I give you the book's final sentence, which is,
"There is a lesson in all this which it behooves every thinking man to ponder."
Sincerely,
Lets see exactly who Senator Judd Gregg really represents:
*
Who are Senator Judd Gregg's top campaign contributors?
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cycle=200...
FMR is number one.
Who is FMR?
First Mercury Financial Corp. { An insurance company similar to AIG. }
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=FMR
Number 5 Goldman Sachs, and we know who they are: { Goldman Sachs is the right arm so to speak, of the "Fed" ! }
So it seems for all intents and purposes Senator Gregg is a mouth piece for the banking industry, and "Not" a representative of the voters in New Hampshire that elected him to the U.S.Senate.
One more thing I noticed, when Ron Paul mentioned that Silver/Gold was Constitutional money Senator Gregg completely ignored him, even though to become a Senator he took an oath to up hold the U.S. Constitution.
My comment:
What a Phoney !

sen greg is a disrespectful bastard
that guy is the backstabbing wise-ass, in every movie like alien2 (think paul reiser), that the sooner is killed off in the movie, the better.
Dr. Paul does speak over the average person's head...
BUT, remember, the average American is a complete dipshit.
yes, I'm in a negative mood.
The average voting person
The average voting person does not understand what the heck Dr. Paul is talking about. He really needs to give examples the average or below average person can relate to in their own lives.
Dr. Paul needs to let people know in terms they can understand how the deficit and the dollar devaluation is going to effect them personally.
When a person like Dr. Paul knows a subject inside and out he may take it for granted that the majority of Americans will understand what he is talking about. And in most cases...they don't.
Why do you think other politicians resort to telling short stories about Mrs So so or Mister So so, when explaining a subject or point they want to get across? It's so the people get the point that's trying to be made.
When Dr. Paul makes a comment about dollar devaluation being a tax on every American, it means nothing to most people.
Therefore, I most certainly agree with you...Talking over the heads of the average American does absolutely nothing to win their hearts and minds. Because when they don't understand what's being said they just tune it out and stop listening.
I honestly don't think it
I honestly don't think that its good to water down what we say so that Joe Six Pack can understand it all the time. I kind of like the status that comes with supporting the message. I kind of like the group being exclusive. :D Joe Six Pack should want to be like us, not the other way around. :D
The foundation of the argument was lost.
It is always easy to armchair QB, what we would do in that situation, so what the heck, I'll play along.
Ron Paul in all his wisdom, tends to sometimes talk over people's heads. The financial gurus on this show, and watching this show may have understood better than me, but to the layman, he might have well have been speaking Chinese.
I wish that he would have focused on the fact that it is not Congress just acting in a bipartisan manner, but Congress acting on the demands of the American people.
Reminding the Senator that RP is a representative OF THE PEOPLE, as are the others, and it is an opportunity for Congress to ACT on the demands of the people as they are supposed to do. .He should have asked him if him if he is a representative of the banks, and big wigs, or the people. Give him a " Are you with us, or against us" shot across his bow.
Maybe I'm wrong. But it seems like RP needs some good phrases, and one liners, that really drive home the necessity of this bill. I don't think that he should have flinched on the Senator accusing him of wanting to end the Fed. He should have stated what he truly wants, which is what the PEOPLE now want, and THAT is to KNOW WHAT is happening with their money, their children's money, and their grandchildren's money.
Transparency would lead to change.
I still sometimes wonder if we are being set up to be the patsies for the ending of the Fed, and for the collapse to be blamed on us, and then the birth of an international organization to be brought in as the solution.

I'm glad there are people thinking along these lines.... I think it's more of a possibility all the time. They'd get what they want and silence the opposition.

bingo
I think you're exactly right. They (the Powers That Be) would certainly put full blame on Ron Paul and the Fed audit law, should it pass.
But what is giving me hope is that the media monopoly is breaking down.
Witness this very show, on a major network. This is unthinkable. It is miraculous.
Perhaps many of the media employees are beginning to INSIST some truth be reported. And the one man or few men who control things at the top are losing some power.
We are witnessing many leaks in the dike, and we can only pray that the dike breaks, and truth spills out in gushing waters, before it's too late. And I'm afraid, it may already be too late.....
