My Vision of the Future
After watching the "The Secret of Oz" by Bill Still it's become more apparent the possible future we all could experience very soon. The movie details how the major wars throughout history-From Jesus throwing out the money changers to Congressman Ron Paul's Audit the Fed Bill-have been over who is in control of our money. The American Revolution didn't end after we threw out the invaders, it just went underground. From the British counterfeiting our Continental dollars to the Federal Reserve secretly debasing our dollar with rampant spending we've always been at war with people who seek to destroy our wealth.
The solutions at the end of the movie is where the documentary fails to inspire me. While our state legislature might be less corrupt and inept then our Federal Representatives I have little faith they will work in concert for solutions to help Americans. If it isn't greed that snares them, then blackmail or deadly threats have coerced them. If they can't be coerced then the huge bureaucracies they still support override their authority.
The solution, as I see it, is today we should be beyond representatives. No one person can speak for thousands when we could be totally self sufficient. We have the technology today to make everyone independent of food and energy and instantaneously communicate.
Is this some sort of anarchist utopia only imaginable in my mind? This is not anarchy-you represent yourself and it's up to you to make your voice heard. Cooperatives, Companies, teams-whatever you call your compatriots can form alliances to release more people from the drudgery of the industrial era.
My vision is also not utopia-you still have to work and in the beginning it will be a lot of work. It's called networking and it's what's kept this internet thriving so long. Before Facebook came the Bulletin Board System and before BBS was Arpanet-the internet's evolution was all a progression to the rapid share world we have today.
Self sufficiency has evolved to be almost effortless. People have been living in the desert with tire and mud homes that have all the modern conveniences and grow their own food in earthships for decades. It might sound disgusting, but the homes are actually quite beautiful: http://www.earthship.net/. This is only one of the thousands of examples of different types of houses that exist without being connected to the grid.
What about the people sunk in a thirty year mortgage with no possibility of selling and anchored to a job they might hate, but still must go to if they want food? Well urban or suburban homesteads are very possible. Check out what this couple did with 1/4 of an acre: http://www.pathtofreedom.com/
If you don't own land many parks rent land. Homesteading your house is one key in the first solution.
The overarching solution is to rely on each other for money. Use local currency, commodity backed currency or barter for everything you can. Here is an excellent resource for this solution: http://www.gigafree.com/barter.html .
When people trade amongst themselves for the essentials like energy, food and shelter then all the power of controlling money will be taken from the international bankers. The first American Revolution was launched because the elected Representatives of America chose a currency controlled by American Representatives. Today we each can be a Representative of a New America-one where we trust each other enough to finally finish what Jesus started by throwing out the moneychangers.

Sounds good to me!
