Rand Paul Tea Party Money Bomb Raises Nearly a Quarter Million Dollars in 24 Hours

Final tally: Nearly a quarter of a million in 24 hours, half a million for the quarter, and $1.6 million total. Good job everyone! Congratulations, Rand.

Bowling Green, KY -- Capitalizing on the strength of small donors, the Rand Paul campaign received contributions totaling nearly a quarter of a million dollars, with an average contribution of less than $100.

Rand says, "We're ecstatic that our supporters, in these tough economic times, were able to donate so much of their hard earned cash. Meanwhile, my opponent continues to beg and plead with the establishment special interests for PAC money."

Today marks the second highest one day online fundraising effort in the history of Kentucky politics. The original record was set by Dr. Paul's campaign on August 20th, 2009 when the campaign raised $450,000 in a single day.

Rand Paul supporter and Santa Claus

Sure is taking them a long time to do a press release

What is the point of lumping all in one day if you get no press for it?

Seems like whoever ran Paul's campaign is running Rand's.

I'd like to say "Thank You" to Michael Nystrom

For providing this forum from which so much is achieved.

NEW YEARS EVE...

Let's do this again on December 31st 2009!!!!!!

Agreed...

Agreed...

Thank you Michael

It's been a while since I logged on to DP and I noticed right away you took down Rand's little banner on the right side of the page. I imagine that's probably a result of some positions that were taken that you can't support. That's fair. It is your website to do with as you please. But I do want to thank you for posting this article and helping to spread this good news about Rand in your own way.

The members of the DP community may not always agree 100% of the time on 100% of the issues but thanks to you, DP is a forum where we can hash out our differences and come together on many things in a civil manner.

Michael, may you and and your family have a safe and very Merry Christmas!

Just curious about the handle?

Hey rhino...

I doubt we've met. I'm in KY but I don't know where you're from. I think you've mistaken me for someone else.

My handle comes from the Battle of Lexington Green on April 19 1775.

http://www.linuxmint.com

Sorry ...

I wasn't insinuating we ever met.

I was referring to the spending many hours at the Lexington Green development at the Joseph Beth book store in Lexington, reading books I could not afford to buy at the time.

I was wondering if your handle was referring to that.

Obviously it isn't.

But thanks for the clarification.

It brought back some memories so I felt inspired to post.

I also coached high school sports and we always stayed at the Hilton Suites at Lexington Green for the state championships. We pulled off a state title one year and my wife and co-coach considers it the most important moment in her life to date outside of our marriage and the birth of our children.

I love statements like this. He set and beat his own record.

"Today marks the second highest one day online fundraising effort in the history of Kentucky politics. The original record was set by Dr. Paul's campaign on August 20th, 2009 when the campaign raised $450,000 in a single day."

New Years Eve Money Bomb....

I am down!

third quarter

Paul had a third quarter ending at 1,121,693

At 12:30 central time, he's now at 1,688,909

1,121,693 - 1,688,909
=$567,26 for the quarter so far with 15 days left.

Grayson raised $642,857 in the third quarter so that put Paul close to the Grayson mark. Since we can't know how much Grayson's fundraising actually is, we can use the third quarter benchmark as a target for lack of a better way to know what he has.

!!! ^_^ !!!

$20,700 a day each day for the next 15 days will put him at just over 2 mill. yes i know i'm dreaming, looking for a christmas miracle!

"freep the living crap"

I had to laugh, then laugh again at that line from the Daily Kos story:

KY-Sen: Senate candidate Rand Paul's army of supporters (reminiscent of his father's presidential acolytes) have been busy little bees over the past few days. They managed to raise six figures for their man in a one-day "money bomb." They also managed to freep the living crap out of PPP's weekly poll of their readers to determine the next site of their polling. Ergo, it looks like we will be seeing some polling data out of Kentucky before the year is out. After all, the Ron Rand Paul Revolution has spoken!

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Add $13,071 and subtract the amount raised in first two hours.

Make it consistent with Rand's Web site time, not Puerto Rico time.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

No

The money bombs always start on Eastern time though.

Pick the 24 hour range that raised the most, which is Eastern. Eastern is graphs site is supposed to be on if not for Day Light Savings.

OK, drop the first hour and add an hour at the end.

That would make up for the clock being stuck on Daylight Savings Time.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

hear that... it's the sound

hear that...
it's the sound of Trey sucking it
...suck it Trey, suck it.

Called my ISP and they're tracking it fine.

Must be something with my local router, or something.

I don't think it's my computer, because Amy can't get to it either.

Must be the router -- but can a router block a website?

Not sure why....

it seems to be working for me?

Now see?

The dumb ole Rand Paul Graphs chart that's running on Puerto Rican time for some strange reason already has the day finished when it's just past 11:30 Eastern Standard Time and just past 8:30 Pacific Standard Time. That's just dumb!

$228K

For today. I think we can hit $250K by midnight - 2 hours to go.

That should put him at $1,689,000 which should put him at $1.7mils by tomorrow morning, after the West Coast chimes in.

That is my prediction - $1.7 mil by morning.
