Will Rand Paul fire his spokesman? Update: Hightower resigns

Hightower was causing problems last week, but now he's made himself the center of attention again this week. Some of the conclusions made on the site are questionable as to if he saw the comments etc, but it still looks\seems bad.
Now what happens? People have donated a lot of money and time already so if the campaign becomes more about Hightower than about the actual candidate, that's going to be a problem.
The hill and national media pick up on it.

Rand Paul campaign manager David Adams appears to have just commented to The Hill:
"I've heard from several people who have looked at the blog post and am trying to find out what the truth is," Adams said. "I'm aware of and share your concerns and want to do what is right."

Focus on helping Rand's campaign, don't keep bumping this thread. It was a mistake, it was handled now it's time to move on.
Has nobody learn how to do a background check?
Or how about a least a Google search before someone is hired for a campaign?

if it was, someone with two functioning brain cells would have caught on to this POS before he was given ANY position in this campaign. i am barely making a living, yet i scrape together what i can to support these guys, only to find out they're running a half assed campaign, at best. i will not rant any further here, but i will certainly let Rand know what i think of him wasting my hard earned money with his BS friends.

The best way for Rand to deal with this is to get out front. Don't try to ignore it. Take credit for dealing with it. Make it known in no uncertain terms that his campaign will not tolerate this sort of thing.

I want to congratulate the DP for having the guts to discuss this issue. The people that want to represent us should be held accountable at all times. There may be fallout from this recent event but at least the wise decision was made. It wasn't allowed to linger and divide the supporters and give ammo to the opposition. This is how every instance of controversy should be dealt with. Campaigns will run much smoother because of it. Don't be a support in blind faith. You do nothing to help get these people elected to office. You only support lies and disinfo that will be used against them in the end, jeopardizing the campaign all together. Whether Chris wrote these things or not is now up to him to resolve but the evidence was strong and he moved on because it does no good for him to work in an official capacity for Rand with rumors and allegations swirling. The mudslinging before 2010 will get worse before it gets better. You all have done well to keep them honest in this instance.

Second, regretfully it doesn't matter if it is true or can be explained. Chris Hightower has just been made into a Poison Pill for Rand's campaign. It doesn't matter if it is completely true...there is enough 'bad' stuff to make him appear like poison. Remember how they used someone's article in Ron Paul's newsletter to try and make Ron look like a racist? It didn't matter that it wasn't true since Ron is the furthest thing from a racist. I still see people in comments sections across the web call Ron a racist.
This thing is PURE POISON!
Oh and I'm a big Rand fan too...donated twice yesterday. I just hope that Rand and Chris resolve this quick.

I don't think it's the statements...most of which are from 2 years ago before he probably even knew Rand... as lacking the common sense to make all your social networking stuff private before signing on as a campaign spokesman for a Senate race.
I also came across this on RedState today and can't really argue with it:
If he does resign he should go on the blogs and defend himself and..if he has time...let loose on the scumbags attacking him and go after Grayson as a blogger in the new year.
