I saw Avatar this evening and found it to be not only amazing from a technical standpoint, but also the significance allegorically that it held. I've seen others post about it being NWO propaganda, however, I felt the real allegory of the story had little to do with world governance and more to do with a foreign policy of non-interventionism and respect of culture. There was even a back handed smackdown of the Bush Doctrine of preemptive war. I'd be interested in hearing others' opinions.

I think if you asked 10
I think if you asked 10 people what they saw in it you would get 10 different answers. I saw the affects of preemptive war and global domination. It also reminded me what we did to the American indians. To me those things over shadowed the extreme environmentalism. Was the army in this movie the US army or a private mercenary group? I can not recall.
White-guilt based sentence
"It also reminded me what we did to the American indians."
You said "we" as in all US citizens, particularly the white men, did something to Native Americans. This notion was programmed in your head. It leads up to the notion that all white US citizens are accountable for any crime commited by the US government...when, in fact, a tiny portion of US citizens actually did anything to the Native Americans, Koreans, Germans, Jews, Iraqis, etc.
I know most of you think I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but just look at how they are taking away our rights with this environmental-guilt rhetoric in Copenhagen. They are doing the same thing via white guilt.
And I hate to appear to be on the side of those horrible white racist groups (KKK, Stormfront)...I pity those groups (as they are purposely misled). But I have the objectiveness to call it like it is. Avatar is not only an anti-US movie, it is part of the white guilt movement.
You see the white guilt movement is used to prevent people from discovering certain truths.
What was the Civil War about? People trying to stop the imperialist expansion of the Federal government? Heck no...it was just about slavery and if you say otherwise, you are a racist.
Why has the West dumped a gazillion dollars and lives to recreate Israel? To conquer? No, it's just reparations for the Holocaust...even though the Allies didn't do anything to the Jews...if you say otherwise, you are a racist.
Critize Obama? You are a racist.
You see...white guilt makes it easy for the media to shut you down in a heartbeat when you start exposing the man behind the curtain.
So, this is very important.
Here's the Honorable James Manning (a Black man) on this very subject: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfrR5lAxXV0
Boru: I agree with most of what you are saying here
But I must disagree as far as "advantages" go from Indian Removal Act (ad infinitum) and the benefits given to white men.
I mean we can list all the things white men never had to go through in this country and for 100's of years did basically nothing to stop it.
Especially if you believe that North - South War was not over slavery; which means you can't claim "altruism" (which I don't believe in) in that war. So, it was fought for why all wars were fought, "profit and gain"
Also, if you believe that we never attained "individualism" then you admit we've always been some % of a collectivist nation (the only way there can be war of any kind, or welfarism, or slavery, or Jim Crow, or Indian Removal Act, or welfarism).
Just some thoughts,

I just got back from watching....
I just got back from watching this awesome spectacle in IMAX! Man, was that incredible or what?!?!?! I agree with your assesment whole-heartedly and even chuckled out loud when the orders of a preemptive strike were given.
This movie is amazing!
Avatar has a good theme
I just saw Avatar yesterday and liked it's theme of military imperialism. It also touched on corporate militarism. Can't remember the name of the corporation in the movie. But it sort of reminded me of a futuristic Blackwater, Dyncorp, or Triple Canopy.
Wikipedia
Very thought provoking film...
It does reek of demonic possesion and give more cause to investigate the Annunaki and PLanet X... I mean cmon... these people use DNA to create testube slave bodies so that they can possess the bodies and infilitrate the local population... Kind of opens my eyes to the 13 Illuminati BLOODLINES (DNA) and how they can be genetically beneficially to future possesion of the returning Nephilim from Planet X... In a wacked out kind of way it all makes sense... but WHO knows... The movie was definitely entertaining and well done... Really makes our current civilization look like the burdon it is on the Earth...
Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?
Regardless of the plot you
Regardless of the plot you can see through, the obvious green environmentalism, it's still a good movie.
I enjoyed it quite well, never once realizing that 2.5 hours had passed.
For me, I noticed that the avatar gets his strength from the fact death isn't real to him. Also from his new ablity to be out of the wheel chair. Acting was very good here, even though its CGI.
But if anyone wants proof that the MSM/Hollywierd can now make anything they want with CGI look real as can be, Avatar is your proof.

Boru...
I have noticed that some movies (such as the Matrix), were generally mixed race, but it is based on the assumption that minorities are gradually losing their status as minorities, and are rapidly on their way to becoming the majority. The Wachowskis are good people, and both V for Vendetta and Matrix were VERY symbolic of the current state of things, and very anti-NWO to boot.
I think Avatar is along those lines...I don't see it as a tool for NWO propaganda like many other movies that have been produced. I think it shows how far away we have gotten as a people from our planet, and that we're going in the wrong direction. We're technologically advancing without spiritual advancement, which creates an imbalance and, ultimately, destruction. Through my research, it is my personal opinion that we were far more spiritually advanced thousands of years ago, before the advent of religions, than we are today.
Anyway, this is a movie that is very anti-corporatism, and anti-greed. It has nothing to do with anti-capitalistic preaching.
Formula white male guilt movie...super model sized
Other that followed this formula: Battle for Terra, Dances with Wolves, Pocahonus , etc. In fact, this reminded me a lot of Battle for Terra.
I loved the over-arching Avatar metaphor: if you choose *wisely* you will transform from being a broken person into a larger than life being...a tall thin superior-to-humans being (like a super model). Pretty darn elitist.
BTW: Did you notice how most futuristic movies have more non-whites? e.g., Matrix. However, since this is a white guilt movie, most of the people were white...especially the antagonists...heck the major antagonist was a blond haired, blue eyed white male...that's white guilt personified.
And, since this is a white guilt movie, the Nobi couldn't have a culture of there own...they had to have some combination of non-white cultures: native indian, african, etc.
The NWO side of me loves this movie. It is the NWO that is BOTH leading this white guilt movement AND leading the imperialistic military ventures. Now that they have achieved their major military objectives in the middle east, they are basically telling the populace to hate/protest their imperial ways so the NWO has justification/support for pulling out before they have to do the really expensive and hard work of running the nations they destroyed.
Sheer genius.
They did this stuff with the Korean and Vietnam wars. They had the people hate what they were doing so they could just kill, set up shop, and let the running of the devasted countries to someone else.
It is the evolution of conquering.
Boru: Wow
The RP movement -- The Liberty movement is about "individualism"
That being said I think "white people" have won out over black, brown, red, and yellow peoples in the last 400 years.
Yes ONE futuristic movie show more minorities (after a hollocaust). It makes sense because the most powerful people today are white countries -- so, if there is nuclear war or world war the focus is going to be white vs white nations (like WWII and WWI, Civil War, and American Revolutionary War). Leaving other nations relatively peaceful and multiplying.
The Matrix was an A.I movie -- The A.I would attack white nations first as they can navigate along tech advanced worlds better than in the jungles or agrarian societies and the white societies are the only ones that pose a threat.
Also, there are more non-whites on Earth than there are whites -- so the racial make up of the Matrix makes a lot of sense. That being said the most important character was "white" (Neo). The leader of the "council" was white.
Most Sci-Fi movies prior to the Matrix / Avatar had mostly white lead characters. Star Wars, Blade Runner, Dark City, Star Trek (was mostly white), Battle Star Gallactica, Serenity, Event Horizon (mostly white), Aliens Movies, the list goes on.
I think white people have been fairly represented in movie history without a "fear" that non-whites are taking over, hahahahaha.
Avatar was about "race" -- The Human Race vs Alien Race.
There were a lot of minorities fighting under Creepy "white" hair guy (who was overtly tanned, by-the-by).
The "hero" who saves the ignorant natives is "white" -- correct? All the saviors are white. Sigorney Weaver and the other two Avatar "drivers" were white.
What are you going on about? hahaha.
Can you name one other Sci-Fi movie that is non-white in predominance.
Star Trek Movie was mostly white -- well its based off of the series, so it had to be. But what other movies are you talking about, smile.

Agree
"they had to have some combination of non-white cultures: native indian, african, etc."
I noticed that as well. They have a physical appearance and dress of the Masai of Kenya, and their language sounds like a native American dialect.
Bore You?
Absolutely.
I just saw the movie...
and have to admit I was quite impressed. I went in with mild expectations and walked out thinking to myself that is perhaps the best movie I've seen this year. Great visuals and music and even though the plot was extraordinarily predictable, it was fascinating.
To those criticizing the movie without having seen it, watch it. You're free to voice your own opinion about whatever you'd like to, but I'd advise against spouting off about something you haven't seen and really know nothing about.
Oh yeah and if NWO propaganda supports ending wars and policy based on foreign exploitation...well then I have to admit for once I actually agree with something in their doctrine.
Sure
they will end wars and exploitation--just as soon as they kill 90% of the people and get everyone enslaved who are left and totally dominate the earth with HAARP.

She didn't see it, either. So to say she didn't like it makes absolutely no sense.
If it's from Hollywood, there might be GAYS in it, SIERRA.
You could watch it with your sister-wives and report back to us about how "Avatar" is the reason for America's moral decline.
no no gays in the movie,
no no gays in the movie, even those on that foreign planet know it is pervers to to be gay.. dang maybe I should see it!

Big Hollywood
As tiresome as their DOMA and interventionist articles may be, Big Hollywood's conservative insider's viewpoint on the film industry I often find to be refreshing and insightful:
REVIEW: Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Is a Big, Dull, America-Hating, PC Revenge Fantasy
Absent from the big screen for over a decade now, Oscar-winning director James Cameron returns armed with a reported half-billion dollars, a story he’s been desperate to tell for 15 years, and the very latest in cutting-edge visual technology. The result is “Avatar,” a sanctimonious thud of a movie so infested with one-dimensional characters and PC clichés that not a single plot turn – small or large – surprises. I call it the “liberal tell,” where the early and obvious politics of the film gives away the entire story before the second act begins, and “Avatar” might be the sorriest example of this yet. For all the time and money and technology that went into its making, the thing that matters most – character and story – are strictly Afterschool Special.
What a crushing disappointment from one of our most original and imaginative filmmakers.

The neocon nightmare
I love it, the necons are fumming. We in the DP community should try and support this movie, tell your friends and family about it. Imagine what this would do to the liberty movement if more people see this movie.
I wonder if when the world community would rise up and drive the imperialistic US military out of the 700+ military bases around the world. I dont know about u but I cant wait for it to happen.
well that's the thing
it is happening, but not in a good way. I'd be wary about cheering on the nwo.
That said, from a technical and artistic perspective, that movie was amazing! A visual feast. I believe they crossed the uncanny valley in this film. The line between cg and reality is all but gone. Now literally anything someone can think of can be created on screen, the possibilities are endless.
The story however was pretty meh and obvious, but full of exciting and inspiring moments. I could do without the forced and heavy handed political references. They practically beat you over the head with it, which distracts from the enjoyable movie. And for the most part it was enjoyable if you ignored the preaching, and poor storytelling in parts. Overall it was very impressive and if your not the turbo "hollywood is the devil trying to use there mind control rays on you" type of person and looking for a fun movie to watch I would highly recommend seeing Avatar.
It is POSSIBLE to leap the
It is POSSIBLE to leap the uncanny valley, but only under the auspices of people who really have done their homework under a great director. It's a tribute to everyone involved in the production. You can't love movies and not love what's in Avatar, IMO.
Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...
It was great, but SOCIALIST LEANING, NOT libertarian.....
I thought the movie was mindblowing and loved it! But politically, it was designed to be left leaning, so dont embarrass us and call it libertarian. Did you hear about the parts of respecting the earth because we rape it and its people? About the greater good of the community? It was against the "greed" of capitolism! It was less non intervention and more anti Bush (which is fine unto itself, but thrown in with all socialist greater good, large commune was a bunch of bull!)
The director has already been known to be a huge leftie. Thats all, sorry to be a party pooper, but major anti capitolist and individualism.
But just ignore all that BS and enjoy it for what it is, a virtual and entertaining masterpiece! Positive stuff outweighs the negatives!

You confuse capitalism with corporatism.
The Corporation that came in guns a blazing to evict the natives did so with the help of the Marines. You call that capitalism? I don't.
Call me socialist
I so wanted to get into the avatar program and join the Na'vi people. A society just as socialist as a pride of lions, do your job or get out. I also like to see proof of how the director is a "huge lefty" cos in these days, the necons are going to label you a huge lefty if you disagree with their illegal wars in the middle east.
One last point, when the owners (Na'vi) refused to sell their land to the evil corporation, it was an anti capitalism since the owners(albeit communial) in a capitalist system can decide whether to sell or not.
Now get your head out of the sand and stop calling people names
Lord-Indra: I do agree with you -- however
I think many "tech-driven" liberals (like Cameron) are closeted libertarians at heart.
When you say "against the 'greed' of capitalism" I'm assuming you mean "free-markets" as Capitalism was coined by Marx and to him it meant Economic-Fuedalism rather than Economic-Individualism (free-markets).
The "rape" of the Earth and it's people message is accurate because it happens only under economic-fuedalism or economic-fascism as we've never had economic-individualism.
The Earth is "raped" -- it's raped in the "commons" and rarely ever where property rights are perfectly protected.
Capitalism is not Individualism -- Individualism is Consumer-Sovereignty or Free-Markets (as defined above).
This wasn't a movie where people from one side of the planet invaded another -- this was Corporatist (economic-fascist + military colonialists) invaded an entire planet and stealing resources and destroying ecosystems.
It's easier to see in Transformers 2 -- because we are the "aliens" about to be destroyed, hahahaha.
In general I agree with what you are saying. People on the Left and obviously on the Right are confused over definitions.

I saw it tonight and I loved it
I love movies, and especially science fiction movies. There are not enough good sci fi movies, but this is definitely one for the ages. I'll definitely see it again. I don't get the pro-NWO propaganda. It is definitely anti-fascism, anti corp-gov, anti Bush Doctrine.
It is, remember, a story. Whatever you read into it was in your mind to begin with it.
Whatever reactions you have will not be reaction to the movie itself, but will be reactions to your own mind, and the pictures already contained within.
If you like thoughtful, complex entertainment, sci-fi & special effects, you'll love this movie.
Don't let others judge for you. I read one article in which the author said, "I didn't see it, and you shouldn't either," which I think is complete BS.
See it and judge for yourself. Or don't see it and don't spout off about it.

The movie does advocate the man-made global warming theory, but just remember, it's science fiction and It's Just a Movie.
