I would rather watch a Curling match

Than even think about watching an American football game!Perfect timing on the stone,Gentle brushing of the sand to steer, speed,or slow the stone,Now there is skill! And Helmets are not required,Emergency life support needed very seldom!

it's a personality 'thing'--

some people like team sports and get very caught up in them; others don't.

My spouse and I are both individual sports people--

typically things that don't take gasoline--

:)

things that are practical like bicyling, canoeing, cross country skiing--

swimming . . .

I do find it hard to understand why people get emotional or sentimental about sports and teams--

I think it's a symbol for something else; I think it's a way people . . . divert emotion or deflect anxiety--

I think it's a way people connect, when they can't find another way--

some people use religion; some people use clubs; some people shop; some people do sports and watch sporting events--

some people really like movies.

I don't have television, but I have a soft spot for independent films--

and even some 'mainstream' films--

I get annoyed with Hollywood, though; I 'see through' a lot of it--

but, I don't 'condemn' people who do team sports. It is a huge industry, though--

a massive industry--

seeing it for what it is is a good thing, and then if it means a lot to someone, go ahead and enjoy it.

I can see that the movie industry is an illusion and still enjoy a good film--

as legalize says--

sometimes everyone needs an 'outlet'--

being serious all the time can take a toll--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I'm not into team sports

I like boxing, snowboarding, skateboarding, dirt biking, and any racing except NASCAR.

When I was a kid I was a huge fan of Tarheel basketball.

I was also a die hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles until 9/11 happened, then sports took a back seat to current events and politics. In short, I was an Eagles fan for the years when they sucked, then I quit watching and they got good.

I am a closet sports fan. I

I am a closet sports fan. I used to be a hardcore fan, but when I moved away from the States and Cal Ripkin retired from baseball, I woke up to the fact that it's just another ugly business.

Ripkin is/was a dying breed. The man lived in Maryland and played for Maryland, period. You rarely see this anymore.

How can you be so proud of a team full of millionaires who could careless about your city?

Anyway, old habits are hard to kick so I still check up on the Ravens and the Orioles but could careless about any other team. I take pride in the fact that I know very little about other players outside these two organizations.

Lastly, as someone brought up below, the majority of people that follow sports religiously are the biggest morons I have ever personally met. To say that they have a one track mind is an understatement. These folks singlehandedly ruin America every time they vote or open their mouths about our country's issues....

Yeah, I grew up in Baltimore.

Yeah, I grew up in Baltimore. I miss crabs every summer....

Florida Gators Football and Orlando Magic Basketball

...not that I obsess over it, I just enjoy watching the games when they are on (if I have nothing else to do)

None ............ I have

None ............ I have noticed that most people that follow sports are total retards that could care less about what is going on around them. I guess their are exceptions like You guys on this forum but I will always believe that. I can't stand it also because I live 9 months a year on a offshore vessel and the same sports idiots keep it on ESPN 24 hours a day and to hell with anyone else.

Sorry Charley, I used to be

Sorry Charley, I used to be one of those idiots you are refering to, and rightfully so. I still kept my love for football even so that the past 3 NFL commishes have been CFR members- Pete Rozelle, the guy after him, and the current football czar Rodger Goodell. (sp)

I did throw away Basketball, Baseball and Hockey. I make it a habit to not buy any NFL merchandise or game tickets, and do not have the NFL network on my satelite. I just watch my team's game couchside, with cold beer and popcorn handy ;)

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

I agree...

On principle I told myself 20 years ago that if and when the local teams went on strike that would be it for me.. It happened (big shock) and I'm through with sports. There was a time when they played for the love of the game. Now it's all about money. Eff 'em and good riddance. I don't miss them at all. Buncha greedy b@stards.

I

am a 30 year season ticket holder of the New England Patriots. I think this will be my last. At every game now the comercials are to rat on your neighbor and if you see something suspicious text to this number. I do not like this message and am seriously giving it thought to give them up. I gave up on the bruins for there lack of commitment. Looks like I am becoming more of a celtics fan, I did pick up a half season ticket for the last 3 years, plus it is warmer indoors

hugs

my name is also Tom but this is not why I write to you - I write to you because Love has to be spread...

My 15 year old made in the USA

Golden State Warriors knit cap is keeping my head and ears warm as I type.

I only have

loyalties to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and my little digital fantasy football players. Ever since I discovered Ron Paul though my ff teams have sucked. I used to always make the playoffs and win the occasional league.

Right now team Kingdom of Sweden in junior hockey...VC

Then Team Sweden in the Olympics...

Hmm used to like the team I played in ÄIF :)

Otherwise I don´t care much for different teams....
just wanna see good play...

hugs my friend from Sweden

my team has the core players from your country

This is for all you Cowboys,

This is for all you Cowboys, Bengals, Eagles, Giants, Broncos, Raiders, Chiefs, Titans, Browns, and Dolphins fans:

;^)

p.s. - There are some good guys on my hometown team, like L.T. and Gates. If guys like them ever wake up like Mark Stepnowski did (used to play for Redskins, check his Alex Jones interview), LOOK OUT.

HAHA

I always thought that was a joke and it was just people making fun of the chargers when they played that song. Then I went to the Jets Chargers game last year and that really was your theme song. Is that the village people singing?

Good luck in the playoffs, we'll meet you there

J E T S Jets Jets JETS

HAHA!

Believe me, when that song first came out in the early '80s there were plenty of people who thought disco and football went together like Che Guevara shirts at an NRA rally...

love your signature btw!

I know you meant this as a light hearted thread Legal,

but, I am more of a fan of individual's in many things, including sports.

Having said that, I am still waiting for the next Joe Cool, never been anyone better in a pinch ;)

"kick A$$ and take no prisoner's" works for me!

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!

Good pick!

Joe Montana is the greatest quarterback of all time!

Love....

Vultures

The old joke goes:Two Vultures were sitting on a telephone pole and one said to the other"I am tired of waiting for something to die,Let's go find something to kill!"It seems we have Vultures in the DP also.

Charlotte Bobcats

Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw, and Gerald Wallace! Great trio.

I would find admitting that I

I would find admitting that I root for a sports team even more distasteful than actually doing it. (I did hope for the Dude to win in the semis. Anyone know how that turned out?)

I might give an annual zip-boom-bah or two for a team that did not play in a tax-funded stadium or make sweetheart deals with governments.

Professional sports is just part of the show. It's no coincidence that politicians love sports metaphors.

on any sports team there are freedom loving human beings

who strive to be the best -
and when they come together and win they show us the way!

when was the last time you Sir won something?

Happy New 2010*))

When you find some

other than the few who have come forward to voice that they're aware of the criminals running things and want it stopped ask them to do likewise. If the dollar does or should I say when the dollar is artificially sacrificed their millions won't be worth the paper it's printed on. They have MUCH TO LOSE.

Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
