Ben Stein calls Ron Paul Anti-semitic on Larry King

by Marc Gallagher | Liberty Maven

Ron Paul appeared on Larry King Live on CNN this evening along with Ben Stein and Sheila Jackson Lee to discuss the recent thwarted terrorist attack. After Paul gives his now famous view that they “attack us because we are over there” Ben Stein calls Paul antisemitic which solicits a demand for an apology by Paul. Paul characterizes it as a “vicious attack”

Larry King should apologize

1. Larry King should apologize to Dr. Paul for letting Ben Stein insult and continuously interrupt another guest.

2. Larry King should ban Ben Stein from the show until Stein apologizes to Dr. Paul.

3. Dr. Paul should demand that he be afforded a one-on-one with Larry King, as was afforded "Moron Mitt" Romney before appearing on "Larry King Live" again.

4. Unless these conditions are met, WE should boycott "Larry King Live," even if Dr. Paul appears.

Jews Against the Occupation

Are these Jews anti-semitic because they are against Israeli occupation?

"I think we are living in a world of lies: lies that don't even know they are lies, because they are the children and grandchildren of lies." ~ Chris Floyd

When someone plays the race

When someone plays the race card on you, just laugh and say "Oh I hit a sore spot." Then press them for a real response. "Stay mature and answer the question."

But because Paul went on the defensive when Ben said "anti-semite", Ben effectively ended the occupation issue. That's controlling the conversation...something we can't allow anymore.

Just ignore their vicious flailing and go for the kill.

I didn't think he was defensive--

indignant maybe, but he didn't lose his control--

Ron Paul is older, and wiser, than Ben Stein--

and he responded as an indignant wise man would to an upstart--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

There is one thing that bothers me here...

I agree with Boru above in that this might be a better way to handle it. I do not *fault* Dr Paul for most of his response, but I think that Boru has a great point. I will take note of it, and try to practice myself: When someone attacks, consider that it comes from weakness, not truth, and point that out. It is his responsibility to prove his accusation - Stein never proved anything, he just made blathering accusations, not to spread the truth but to "win" this encounter. Stein does not care about the truth - few who oppose Dr Paul do.

The thing that bothered me was that Dr Paul referred to this terrorist as a "gentleman". HE IS NOT A GENTLEMAN!

It is true that we could listen to what the Middle Easterners say about why they attack, but terror is not the correct way for them to deal with it. Personally I think that for them to get dis-occupied by us would require a push for Liberty within their own societies as the first, and necessary, step on the way to solve this - this may take a while given that responses are typically so totally backwards. (How many muslims condemn murder? If someone associated with me commits a crime, I do not take their side - I am opposed to criminal activity. They simple-mindedly defend their crimes. BACKWARDS!)

Nor is a terrorist is a gentleman.

Dr Paul would benefit by drawing a clearer line between criminals and citizens. I know he understands it, but sometimes it comes out that he kinda-sorta, here for instance, does not oppose criminals and terrorists. Just a matter of presentation, but important nonetheless.

He should have thanked him for the compliment

Given Israel's revival of the Nazism (they're so "superior" and all), the term could be equated with a civilized human being.

Oh.......Oh, Sheila!!!!

Isn't it amazing how rigidly Jackson-Lee (Sounds like a Confederate Army military strategy) literally squeezes tight to her party? Even in the most broad sense? She dislikes the Iraq War! Why? That took place under a GOP administration! Obama is black and a "democrat!" What more could you ask for? She reveals her true colors (pun intended). It's always fun to see racism and partisanship alive and well here! And, read closely. I am not racist. I'm merely pointing out a racial partisanship. The Dems have a good player with Lee!

When Blacks started getting

When Blacks started getting big offices, I really hoped that they would be different (as in better) than White politicians.

But NOPE...more of the same.

This Lee was nothing more than an Obama Yes-man.

Boru: I'm not sure where you are coming from hear

but "I feel you" on this.

I'm Creole and I too wanted to hope that a book can be judged by it's cover, but logic, common sense, and individualism keeps me from believing in this "false community" phenomenon.

Fact of the matter: Whites kill, rape, deceive the most Whites. Blacks kill, rape, deceive the most Blacks. Mexicans kill, rape, deceive the most Mexicans. And so on.

Historically one might say that Whites killed and raped more American Indians and Blacks than vice-verca (this is a simple fact); but "whites" is a misnomer in that line of thinking because it wasn't a cultural agenda, rather the perversions of a particular generation and a limited population from within it.

Development of the Individualist-Mindset is pivotal in free-ing oneself from Racist Rancor; which begins with "soft" notions of "communal behavior" -- i.e., "blacks believe this or whites believe that."

Great Post!

Deanna Troi you are not,

Deanna Troi you are not, because you certainly don't feel me correctly. I was only mentioning my life long disgust of politicians and hoped that, for some reason, black politicians would be more principled.

I wanted more MLK Jrs and got a bunch of Jesse Jacksons.

Boru: You can only ever get Jesse Jacksons

If you vote - lobby - buy corporatist products - keep your money in banks / wall-street - or participate in unions (in the medium to long-run).

By "you" I mean individuals -- I know you are a freedom-lover *wink*

I'm not Deanna Troi because I'm a "he" and I'm not a liberal-hollywood creation, smile.

Your original comment represents the flip-side to discriminatory generlizations or false-hope assertions.

Example: Black people behave thusly because of inferiority-position (insert a negative stereotype)

The Opposite: Black people should behave thusly because of the righteous-victim-position (insert a positive stereotype).

They are both generalizations or false hopes based on collectivist thinking.

I battle this all the time -- but over the last 20 years I've gotten pretty good at spotting when I'm digging into a collectivist mind-set and I departed Wisdom-Individualism.

I wasn't attacking you -- just the notion. Which is what you were doing to, correct? A self-admonishment?

I'm Creole -- You think you have problems with collectivist notions; trying being the ping-pong ball in a violent yet competitive game of table-tennis, hahahahaha.

Oh! Oh, Sheila follow-up

Just to be clear- I was not speaking about blacks as a race here. I pointed out Jackson-Lee specifically. Just so we're clear.

And, I agree with the MLK sentiment. People like MLK and other peaceful leaders are very few and far between.

Opengee: gotcha *wink* -- I was talking to Boru (by-the-by)

I hadn't read your comment, but now that you said that I will, smile.

I

truly beleive that, although it may seem otherwise, this is the argument we want to get back to. "why do they attack us". This exposes more neo-cons than anything else. It actually peels phony conservative neo-cons right off.

If you closely listen to Sheila Jackson Lee, she gets it, but can't deviate from supporting her messiah(Obama). There re many other Democrats that know what Ron Paul is talking about. This argument is the one we win on. I've been saying it all along, notice when this question is brought up, neo-cons want to head for the doors, sort of like mentioning skull and bones.

Just had to let out a little frustration on that mofo

Stein's Mailbox is Full

Sent comments but AOL postmaster sez mailbox is full. I guess he'll never have the wisdom of my remarks.

Neocons got this Kaufman quote wrong and we been hurting ever

since.

They thought it was a quote from Ameriga Vespucci and interpreted it as Nuyo-English; thus the perpetual war in Iraq.

Quote: “I like terra firma; the more firma, the less terra.”

ben stein should be embarrassed

he used to be considered the smartest guy ever, but now hes just the most neo-con guy ever.

I must be missing something here.....

Exactly WHAT did Ron Paul say that was vaguely anti-semitic????

Ron Paul makes the statement that we (our government's military) are in these middle eastern countries, acting as a police-state occupation, doing God-only-knows what (I've never had any explanation as to what the military DOES over there), and this creates the motivation for the terrorist retaliation. He summed that up with "we're occupying their country." And Stein struggles with it at first and then says "that's typical anti-semitic reasoning."

WHERE IS THE ANTI-SEMITISM?

Why can't there be a term for Jews that use Anti-Semitic so frivolously?

It's not that he said anything....

'Anti-semetic' is what they use when they are losing an argument and wish to terminate without admitting defeat.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

You're right...

Same tactic liberals use when they are painted into a corner...they resort to personal attacks.

Ben Stein is a NEO-CON who wants the U.S. to kill as many non-Jews as we can.

He is a hateful person who doesn't like that Dr. Paul shows respect to Arabs and doesn't discriminate based on skin color or creed.

He is truly a racist by definition.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

It's key words

When you're brain washed, certain key words cause a knee jerk, emotional reaction. I think the key word here was "occupy".

These key words are also used to reinforce left/right paradigms. If you've ever spoken to someone who considers themselves "on the right" about libertarian principles and you can tell they're starting to question their own paradigm, but then they suddenly relax, you may have spoken a key word that allows them to label you a "liberal", which, in their conditioning, means they get to dismiss everything you just said that challenges their way of thinking.

Defend Liberty!

Not only do all the banksters

Not only do all the banksters have their hands in the money pot, They Own The Money pot!

ABSOLUTELY...

The central bankers of the world led by the Federal Reserve are rotted.

I get it, two different races of people doing the same thing, calling other races names. How about this.

White Non-Jewish Left calling White Non-Jewish Right anti-semitic and racist. White Non-Jewish Right calling White Non-Jewish Left, Blacks, and Jews NOTHING.

Did I get that right?
