http://www.abcnews.go.com/2020/Stossel/story?id=3970423&page=1

By JOHN STOSSEL and GENA BINKLEY
Dec. 7, 2007

Over the last few months, I've received hundreds of e-mails from people who wanted me to interview the unconventional Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul, R-Tex. So this week I did.

This is 6 part interview posted only on the internet.

drug wars

Please, anyone thinking that the drugs should be criminalized, please read this article. Drugs are bad - please, consider whether other ways how to solve the drug problem are not better. Better education, better treatment of drug addicts may yield superior results to fighting it. Similarly as leaving Vietnam eventually made things better then fighting it.
I know it sounds weird, but there is a reason why the more economic education one has, the more one opposes to drug prohibition. The reason is unintended consequences of prohibition - the more economic education you have, the more bad effects of drug prohibition you can identify.

I take it only part one has

I take it only part one has been posted on abcnews.com so far? I only saw the one part.

BULLSHIT

We already know about Ron Paul. We need to get this "internet interview" on national television so people who don't know him get a chance to. Putting this interview on the internet only serves ABC

What is so dangerous about

What is so dangerous about heorin and sh*t? Nothing! Just like standing next to a running bandsaw, if you don't stick your fingers in there. Empower the individual or empower the substance...your choice.

an incredible opportunity at the most OPPORTUNE time

John Stossel wrote this today. The emails we sent him turned into action. Let's send more: 'Keep in Touch At the end of 20/20, we always say "we're in touch so you be in touch." Your being in touch by sending e-mails is what created this interview. So, thank you. Check back at ABCNEWS.com all next week for more on my interview with Ron Paul.'

Stossel is the most important media voice for small government and freedom, bar none. I'm not surprised he's front and center now, for these causes. He's often spoken of the suits at ABC and his efforts to persuade them over the years. Let's help them see that we want this special aired. If John and the ABC executives heard a ground-swell cry (emails), I'd bet they'd air this special right after Christmas.

I'm writing tomorrow and hope you do too.

The first 5 million supporters of Dr. Paul are 'early adopters.' The next 10 million will require a modified approach.

Forgot to add the obvious

That our viewing these interview segments at abc.com next week will result in traffic they can't ignore. RP with Stossel on network primetime television would have a deeply positve effect, especial with the all-important seniors and soccer moms.

Stossel is a great reporter. I will also send a thank you email

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."

At least...

Stossel asked him the hard questions... Dr. Paul is going to have to answer these sooner or later.

"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul

These drug comments are getting to be disturnbing

Ths guy says Paul doesn't think heroin cocain and marajuanna should be illegal unless each individuel state makes the decision I don't care about medical marajuanna for people who really need like aids or cancer
But heroin and cocain is total different thing and people would be scarred to death to hear that

You are under the assumption

You are under the assumption that if it became legal that people would start using heroin. They are not, the same way people use it regardless of the laws. Do you think people do or don't do things because of the laws?

No law has ever prevented people from doing what they wanted.

I totally agree

Have you ever heard of anyone saying "Heroin sounds really cool, too bad its illegal or I'd start using it." People who want to do drugs (or hire prostitutes, etc.) will do drugs regardless of the laws.

The most important thing to

The most important thing to remember is that, regardless of whether or not drug prohibition seems to make sense, government has no business criminalizing victimless behavior any more than it has enforcing beneficial behavior. They justify doing so by claiming that we are all indirect victims, or that society is degraded by certain behaviors, etc. But these are arbitrary assessments. What about the opposite approach...what about things that make society better?

One could make the argument that society would be more civilized and moral if we all went to church on Sunday, and there is even evidence that people who do so are happier -- should government therefore mandate church attendance?

Studies have shown that frequent sexual intercourse has several health benefits -- statistically higher than masturbation. Should government be in our bedrooms regulating our sex lives? If Joe's wife has a headache, Joe goes to work stressed and suffers lower productivity. This has an indirectly negative affect on all of society. He may also develop prostate problems sooner than he otherwise would have. This will cost everyone higher taxes under our utopian socialized health care. And we haven't even addressed Joe's wife's health yet. She benefits from sex, too.

Pets increase happiness; should every household be issued a government-subsidized kitty?

It's a slippery slope.

We should debate the merits of government intervention as a methodology, rather than the merits of individual laws.

After years of living under the thumb of the...

federal government people do have a hard time with making choices at the state and local level, it's a shock. In reality, no state would ever legalize heroine or crack, but it's their choice

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."

Definitely should be on TV

And I would hope that a Libertarian like John Stossel is fighting himself to have it put on the air. After all, he did take the time to conduct an hour-long interview and Ron Paul supports a lot of the same things Stossel advocates. Anyways, I look forward to seeing the other 5 parts of the interview since I do like John Stossel's reporting and interview style.

We need to contact ABC and

We need to contact ABC and have them air it ASAP!!

Any contact?

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP

this is crap, man!

"... we're posting my interview with Paul only on the Internet, where the debate about Paul is very active."

Thanks for nothing! We already know he's on the damn internet, and obviously so do you, so why the hell won't you show everybody on TV!!!!

what crap! all this money he's raking in, more than any other GOP candidate, all the fire he's putting under the asses of americans, and STILL they won't give him air-time. this "online-only" story is nothing more than an attempt to appease; to give the appearance of coverage without actually covering him where they know he needs and deserves it; in front of the mainstream national television audience.

my comment on the story? as follows, and i encourage you to pressure likewise for more "real" coverage:

"Wake up ABC! His following isn't just "online-only", so why is this story? Check the straw poll results from around the country. Try to ignore the thousands in the crowds when he speaks. Hell, have sense enough to put this story on primetime and watch your ratings jump! Stop relegating us to a bunch of internet geeks. Stop pretending we're just a few rebels in our basements typing furiously on keyboards. I assure you- WE ARE YOUR NEIGHORS, YOUR COWORKERS, YOUR FRIENDS. WE ARE REAL. WE ARE OUT. AND WE ARE MANY. Give him the television time he deserves, instead of trying to keep us under the radar with an online-only story... We cannot be so easily appeased, and WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED."

Yeah, it's a crap, but you

Yeah, it's a crap, but you know, it's still better they've placed it on internet with this obvious crap than put it in trash.

Part 1 on

Part 1 on youtube:

but please, visit abc page, so they would know that people are interested.

We need to lobby ABC to air this in it's entirety on TV

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."

wow!

this is so good! i'll be eagerly anticipating the release of the next segment :)

This is 6 segments posted only on the internet...

good and bad, but hey it's big.

"Despite relatively low poll

"Despite relatively low poll numbers, Paul has had a big influence on the presidential campaign. That's in part because he's raised a ton of money, and in part because of the passionate following he has on the Web. It's one reason we're posting my interview with Paul only on the Internet, where the debate about Paul is very active."

Fantastic, I'll put that

Fantastic, I'll put that video on youtube in next few minutes.

Can you post ALL the

Can you post ALL the segments they have from ABC on the different issues with Paul?

Does this mean that Ron Paul will be on 20/20 tonight?

You know, John Stoessel is a libertarian--he has done some good reports on government bureaucracies.
