2010 is the Year
As someone who's older than many (most) on DP, I don't claim to be smarter (at all), but I've seen more simply due to time-on-planet.
While an impatient young man, I used to work for a guy who had a saying, "Step Up and Look Down". Anytime I'd get aggravated and discouraged about some project or some issue that wasn't going fast enough to suit me, he would calmly utter those words. Years later, I finally figured out what he meant.
WE are the head of a massive spear. Over the last few years, we free-minded Americans have changed the tone of an entire Nation. People are starting to talk (and to think). Ron Paul provided the catalyst and for that, we are all grateful.
Tea parties. 9/12. Townhall meetings. Blogs. Thousands of alternative news websites. Faxes. Emails. Court proceedings. Grassroots candidates. Slowly, people are waking-up en masse and taking action in thousands of different ways. Ironically, Saul Alinsky would be proud, because we are the overwhelming force he described- just devoted to an entirely different end. An end based on the sanctity of Freedom of the Individual.
People are questioning everything.
Interventionist wars and the pursuit of empire? How exactly is money created? What gives an American dollar its value? What are my rights: where do they come from and how are they protected? What exactly is the role of government? Folks have suddenly become re-engaged to the lessons learned in 8th grade social studies and they're demanding answers.
All these questions and hundreds more are being asked daily by growing numbers of people who, just five years ago, were completely asleep. And they're not just idly contemplating the answers for themselves; they're asking their family, their friends, their neighbors and their representatives. There is a mass-awakening happening like nothing any of us have ever seen.
The hollow and empty "powers that be" are crumbling. For the first time (I've ever witnessed) people are questioning what they hear on the news. Even their puppets like Sean and Rush are becoming confused and "off message"- not knowing how to do damage control. The Matrix is buzzing with unanswerable questions and an audience hungry for honesty. We're rattling the very columns of the globalist' efforts. They're scared- and well they should be.
So, don't freak-out. Don't panic. Let's just keep doing what we're doing. Talk to people. Push for answers- hard. Organize protests against bad things. Help folks around us wake-up in a way they can accept and understand. The truth is on our side. The truth is all we need. The truth is absolute. 2010 can be (and may well be) the year when we finally see the beginnings of real hope and change.
So anytime you get bummed and feel like we're not getting anywhere- like our efforts are for a lost cause, just Step Up and Look Down. We're making huge progress in restoring the nation our founders envisioned. We will prevail. The good guys DO always win in the end.
Never quit and you never lose.
Happy New Year to the DailyPaul family!

Thanks a bundle for posting this!
It is easy to forget how much has happened in the last couple of years. People like us stood up and flicked the first pieces of the liberty device. Sure there have been off shoots that many of us would rather not be a part of but it is amazing how suddenly people have re-opened their minds and how active people are now. Just the thought that people are protesting at all, based on the observation they've made in their own personal lives should be hopeful. Lets be the messengers to help them connect even more pieces, get even more engaged, and free even more minds. This experience has been a blast. There is much work to be done and even more learning to seek. I stand beside all of you in the cause. Happy New Year!

WONDERFUL post.
Between the "television" generation (where all of life's problems get resolved in an hour), and the frightening accelleration of the fascism, we tend to become frustrated that "change" isn't happening quickly.
Ron Paul, G. Edward Griffin, Lew Rockwell, and many others have worked for decades with no APPARENT reward except for the knowledge that spreading the truth was the "right" thing to do. Now they are starting to see results as more and more people are slowly waking from their slumber.
We who have only recently awakened must learn from the patience and dedication of these great men. It may be that the "revolution" is not completed in our lifetimes... but our purpose in life is still fulfilled if we "fight the good fight, and run the race". We must EDUCATE above all, as a revolt based ONLY upon frustration - and not on a solid philosophical base - will not end up achieving a greater end.
We must work for the day that society's "knee jerk" reaction to any situation is "you cannot tell ME what to do", instead of "there ought to be a law".
THANKS for this post! What a way to start the new year!

I'm glad you guys are happy about the progress the RP
Community has achieved.
We should take a moment and feel pride-of-accomplishment.

Okay -- Now back to work, breaks-over!
:-)
*&^ Constitution --- Constitutional Rationality
I agree we are making great strides,
but we must never be satisfied, we cannot be satisfied for as long as we live because satisfaction is what got us here. Freedom is not sustained through satisfaction, it is sustained through a constant desire of more freedom. Great post, thank you!!!!
Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine
The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!
I have seen quite a few years myself, and I am encouraged
to see so many people beginning to wake up. In a way, we can be thankful that things are so bad--because if things were good, no one would pay any attention and continue in their slumber.
well said.
i agree totally. as someone who was mystified by the lack of response Dr. Paul received in 88, i have never felt so hopeful.
"The two weakest arguments for any issue on the House floor are moral and constitutional"
Ron Paul
Most weren't ready
in '88. Reagan did a good job of recreating (the illusion of) the post-War 50's and we were all fat, dumb and happy (me included). At that time, Ron was a true "voice in the wilderness".
America is waking up and it's a BEAUTIFUL thing! Our job is to steer it in the right direction- one person at a time.
Some of us weren't even born by '88!
(missed '88 by a few months)
But a new, younger generation is awakening thanks to the foundation of support provided by you guys for decades.
That's why this movement is so wonderful....
It's full of old codgers and young whipersnappers..... and everything else in between.
