New Year Begins With Random Searches On Streets Of New York

A huge crowd crammed under tight security into New York’s Times Square to witness the traditional midnight drop of the New Year crystal ball and the first seconds of 2010.

For the security services, however, this was no time to relax.

New York is on a heightened state of alert following the Christmas Day alleged attempt by a Nigerian man to detonate explosives on a Northwest Airlines plane flying to Detroit.

Thousands of police officers were deployed in and around Times Square, backed by undercover officers, surveillance cameras, rooftop snipers, and devices able to detect radiation or biological agents.
Partygoers crowding into Times Square were not allowed to carry backpacks or alcohol and were banned from reentering the zone once they left.

They hand out free gas masks in Israel, yet take away our guns.

We will turn around this super preditor beast that wants to thrash the world with police state communism.
Kinda satire like this:
Obama: "What do you mean you couldn't tell me when a young person would board a plane and attempt suicide bomb . . . why, there's only 6.5 billion people out there! I'll give you three days to tell me why you missed this one out of 6.5 billion, or I'll take away your bribe money!"
"As president of the world, I demand all people take off their clothes, eat what and when I tell you, take my medicine not yours, travel only when given permission, and never say anything against me, or you'll never work again. That's how you find one in 6.5 billion you fools!"

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

I think we saw all 4,000 cops

I think we saw all 4,000 cops that were on the job last night.

Girlfriend had her bag searched as we entered the Path train to come back to Jersey. Just for kicks I was wearing my ski mask, no problem.

I kind of wish they stopped the crackheads who sat next to us on the train, but that's only because I'm not a crackhead, but I might be one day, so I guess it's for the best.

All the cops last night were awesome though, I didn't see them harrassing anyone and they were all in good spirits and perfect gentlemen and ladies. They were posing for pictures with Asian tourists and generally just keeping the crowd in order. Hats of to the NYPD

why was your girlfriend

searched? i call that harassment. but then i usually require two units of back up and a vehicle search to be issued a speeding ticket, so maybe i'm a bit touchy.
