Let's hope for debate

It should happen but I doubt it will happen.

Open discussion and debate about our Middle East and Israeli foreign policy is the glass ceiling that the Israel Lobby does not want broken under any circumstances.

The Lobby wants to avoid open and public discussion on Israel more than anything else. Once the public and even Congress gets a taste of critical, candid free flowing discussion about Israel it will no longer be contained. They don't want that can of worms opened.

Presently the Lobby can call up employers at their whim and demand that they fire people such as Michael Scheuer for merely mentioning that we should examine the Israel relationship. Above all they do not wish to lose that perception of power. But they will be impotent if the number of individuals turns from an occasional trickle into a gusher and it will if debate starts.

Doubt it will happen without....

Forgive me guys and gals but Ron Paul doesn't need to be wasting his time and intellect on a d-bag like Ben f-ing Stein. What would a debate with Stein accomplish? I would much rather see the Ron Paul/Dick Cheney debate, or Ron Paul/ David Rockefeller, or Ron Paul/Robert Gates or Rumsfeld or any one else. This to me seems like it would be anyone of us arguing foriegn policy with the 12 year old mind set of the forum contributors on GOP.com.

Ron Paul challenged Ben Stein to a debate; he did not challenge the other folks you mention. Lets take it one challenge at a time. It is a tremendous opportunity to educate the masses, assuming the debate is advertized on MSM, regardless who Ron Paul debates.

Ron Paul is scheduled to speak at CPAC in February. Assuming that Ben Stein ignores Ron Paul's challenge to a debate, I would like to see Ron bring up the fact that opponents of interventionism in foreign countries and free speech in general use all kinds of ridiculous accusations to block opposing views. Ron should briefly recap Ben Stein's accusation of anti-semitism during their appearence on Larry King in December as an example. Ron should renew his challenge to Ben Stein to a dabate. This challenge should get national coverage in the MSM.

It might get some coverage, but Stein is really a minor celebrity. Maybe we need to get a new "rumble in the jungle" styled tag team debate format to get people fired up. I'd get both Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura (or maybe some other high energy celeb, like Penn Jilette) to tag team debate TWO pairs of Democrat and Republican challengers! Do something completely crazy to get people's attention! Make the "purse" from the debate $1 million dollars (which I'm pretty sure could be raised by chip-in or with sponsors) which would go to a worthy grade school or high school to pay for college tuitions.

I'm just riffing, but this could be the start of something that would pull people out of the doldrums.

We know what Ben Stein and Ron Paul disagree on, however it would be interesting for the general public to see what they agree on. Early During the interview with Larry King they showed a split screen while RP was speaking and Ben Stein was nodding in agreement. Ron Paul nailed this recession with his prediction as to the out come. I would love to see Ben Stein acknowledge the many times Ron Paul was alone on issues and proven right in the end.

Please have Ben Stein debate Dr. Ron Paul in all of the most important issues effecting our country so deeply today. The debate topics could be preemptive wars around the globe, the War on Drugs, the Federal Reserve System and what has happened with central banks given power with fiat currency in history, the United States Constitution, Health Care, the meaning of the Federal Income Tax in the context of the Constitution, etc. Please, we all know Ben Stein loves to spout rhetoric that has to do with nothing but the what's on the surface of our issues today, so let him debate Dr. Paul and be demoralized and once and for all discredited. Please oblige to this request, for the health of our nation.

This isn't the first time RP has offered to debate the issue of our foreign policy, no takers so far.

People don't even understand the concept of debates anymore, just look at the presidential "debates", nothing but a rhetoric fest.

It's been a long time since high school but I remember debates being structured discussions on topics. The opposing views gather information in great detail to buttress their argument and the discussion begins.

Contrast that with the idiocy of the 08 presidential debates. Dr. Paul explains to the best of his ability, in 1 minute, the concept of blowback and the unconstitutionality of our middle east wars. The response is they want to kill us and that Dr. Paul doesn't understand the nature of Islamic fascism.

Don't debate an issue by telling me what Ron Paul doesn't know. You tell me what you know. Judging from the "debates" they were all in agreement, they know nothing except Ron Paul is wrong and after the consensus is reached, next question please.

It would be laughable if it wasn't so GD serious!

Their side: We, certain wealth people, get wealthier off of these wars. It will all come down to 911 truth. He would have to throw that card, just like the anti-Semitic hole card. Then he'll be out of cards. But will Ron Paul rise to the challenge of it. So far he has avoided it like the plague. I am hoping against hope he will raise the question at the right time. He had his chance, those debate questions during the presidential are all negotiated beforehand. I'd like to know what the real deal is on that. Is Ron Paul a coward or he just waiting for the right moment?
