It looks like the people of Arizona are a bit peeved.

It would be nice to get an update in a real post (not this link only post). I know we have DP friends (4400) that are closer to this issue.

Could they give us an update from the real world.

(Redflex is loosing money supposedly)
(Aunti Janet Napalotano apparently started this program.)

Trust in God, but tie your camel tight.

I was told by a lawyer friend

I was told by a lawyer friend who is involved in the local government that these cameras are simply revenue generators for the towns. This is why there are usually no insurance or license points and also why the fines are very low (so low as to not be worth spending the time to dispute them.) All the towns want is the money, they certainly do not wish for or intend for anyone to fight these tickets

...

Maybe that is so in AZ, but

Maybe that is so in AZ, but in CA the fine is over $400. Someone I know missed her court date and the fine was doubled to $800 and I do believe it goes on insurance and gets DMV points.

I have been studying the situation because I think I may have just gotten one having set off the flash as I made a left on a yellow. So I am nervous but haven't gotten a ticket in the mail yet. I've read that when one goes to court and is shown the photo that you are to simply say that you cannot confirm whether the person in the photo is yourself (you are unable to determine and you will not be forced to implicate yourself.) Hence that argument usually leads to the ticket being dismissed unless there is a video to back it up.

Great article.

It is great to see civil disobedience. Thanks for posting.

Oh yeah, we certainly are

peeved...These goddamn cameras are everywhere and the "for our safety" nonsense is irritating.

Cheers,

Yeah, I remember reading

Yeah, I remember reading about some county that was taking out the cameras because it was working so well that it had substantially cut the towns revenue stream. So that just proved that the gov't wasn't interested in safety (since it worked and no one was running red lights) but was really interested only in revenue.
