a few republican senators decide to show up for the fight in the 15th round

quoting http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405274870327860457462... :
"First, the Constitution does not give Congress the power to require that Americans purchase health insurance. Congress must be able to point to at least one of its powers listed in the Constitution as the basis of any legislation it passes. None of those powers justifies the individual insurance mandate."
--

Well DUH - these spineless cowards SHOULD have been screaming this from day one.
And they should refer to all congressmen who support this crap as TRAITORS and LIARS
(as they are directly assaulting our founding document - a document which they swore to defend).
That's ALL the republiCons should be saying ALL the time
(not bickering how much it will cost, who will get covered, ad nauseam).

But Orrin Hatch and his kind could not care less about the USC.
All they care about is getting re-elected.
And they hope to regain congress if the demoRats pass this monstrosity.
So Hatch is finally saying this now because he knows that it's too late to
make a difference, and he can claim that he "defended the USC" in the next campaign.
What a patriot.

the constitutional issue should have been at the begining

They are trying to get re-elected by this possible too late argument.

It's a start

They should apply the Tenth Amendment to the entire health care bill while they are at it although doing so might bring into question the validity of other things that Republicans have voted for. Credit should be given, though, for even the smallest of baby steps in applying the Constitution to anything.

This health thing

Is one of the most important things happening right NOW,has anyone really looked hard into it?It is about more than forced insurance,it is about a free America.
There are parts included that give the government complete control over the people included in it,This is more important than anything else in the bill and have not been talked about.
Indirectly we,as tax payers, have been footing the bill for a long time and this is how:Let's say you incur a bill of 1000 dollars at the hospital, your insurance says they will cover all but your deductible of 20%,so you pay 200 dollars, then the insurance company calls the hospital and negotiate the balance they are supposed to pay and gets it down to 150 dollars.
The hospital then rights of the remaining balance as a loss on their taxes.
So even if you are insured it is costing the tax payers 650 dollars.

"They used to come get you and lock you up because you were insane, Now they come get you and lock you up because you are sane"

Auto insurance is only mandatory if the state owns the

Auto through registration or if you are in commerce and thus you need a drivers lic. which then mandates you have registration and insurance . talk about a
catch 22 . Give an inch they take a mile,

dducks

1. The States mandate auto insurance, and there are some states where it can be optional.

2. Those who choose not to own an automobile do not have to purchase auto insurance.

3. This law is designed to get at the 20 somethings in the country, that choose not to purchase health insurance. The insurance lobby has been drooling to get at this forced customer.

4. Special interests have spent 700 million dollars over 2 years to write this bill, they are not gambling, they are buying power.

Huh...

the law already requires that we purchase auto insurance. What is the difference here?

You don't have to buy a car

That's the difference. You have a choice in the matter. If you live in a state that requires you to buy insurance and for some reason you don't want it, you can move or walk. You don't get a choice on getting born.

Correct me if I'm wrong

But isn't it a state law that requires you to have auto insurance rather than a federal law? Maybe the feds mandate that states require auto insurance. I don't know.

Just part of the

dog and pony show.

Maybe if they say it enough times, they'll begin to believe it.

To Tax

for four years with no representation of benefits(until they kick in) is also unconstitutional.
