A Tax Break for Pet Owners up to $3,500

This is getting crazier as time goes on
I can see every single male in the US becoming a pet owner on paper. LOL heck it's a deduction...
Since my dogs haven't seen a vet since they were adopted I will opt out.

McCotter’s bill is called the Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years Act (a.k.a. “HAAPY Act”). It would allow owners of “qualified pets” to deduct up to $3,500 for “qualified pet care expenses” each year from their amount of taxable income.

I see it as them taking dollars and giving "some" of them back to "some" of the people to benefit pet supply companies and veterinarians. I would prefer that they just reduce (not a credit - REDUCE) taxes 3500 per individual across the board. Just a novel idea.
