Chris Dodd Will Not Seek Re-election
WASHINGTON (NY Times)— Senator Christopher J. Dodd, the embattled Connecticut Democrat who was facing an increasingly tough bid for a sixth term in the United States Senate, has decided not to seek re-election this year, Democrats familiar with his plans said Wednesday.
Mr. Dodd, 65, a pivotal figure in the major debates now confronting Congress, is to announce his decision at a news conference Wednesday afternoon in Connecticut.
The decision came hours after another Democratic senator, Byron L. Dorgan of North Dakota, also announced that he would not seek re-election this November. The developments underscored the fragility of the Democrats’ 60-vote Senate majority, which is just enough to block Republican filibusters. Democratic incumbents also face serious challenges in Arkansas, Colorado, Nevada and Pennsylvania among other states.

It's already obvious
that the talkin TV heads, the so-called conservative Great Americans, are dismissing Schiff as "unelectable" therefore giving him no noise. Rush, Hannity and Ingram are all too quick to distance themselves from Ron Paul, and now Peter Schiff. It's almost like they are taking their cue from someone, and I'm sure they are - the GOP establishment. What hacks!

I was so angry starting this post I had to
erase it several times. Yes it is time for this piece of crap to go. From a personal stand point I hope someone castrates this a*&^hole. This just about sums up my attitude about this piece of scum. What I wrote previously would have put me in jail. Then I would do no one any good.
Thank you Michael for allowing us to change in Mid-Sentence. Bless you my friend.
This guy deserves to hang from his own scrotum.

Now that Dodd is not a re-election player, watch out!
Senator Dodd's Exit Roils Financial Reform
by Kevin Drawbaugh
Wednesday, January 6, 2010
How Senator Christopher Dodd handles his final months in office is suddenly the big question surrounding U.S. efforts to tighten financial regulation, with some analysts now expecting a more moderate reform.
The Democratic chairman of the Senate Banking Committee -- in trouble politically back home in Connecticut over his ties to the unpopular financial services industry -- announced on Wednesday that he will not seek reelection.
He is expected to complete his term and fulfill his commitment to win Senate passage of the Obama administration's financial reform agenda, or something close to it.
Without the imperative of winning votes for reelection, Dodd may be less motivated to press a populist reform agenda, making him more prone to compromise on controversial issues, said analysts and lobbyists.

The turd in the Peter Schiff punchbowl
Schiff supports preemptive war. Check out this YouTube; his comments on foreign policy start around 2:00. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73vVEY8zNCE&feature=player_em...
I love Schiff's economics, but I won't support or vote for another wannabe mass murderer.

Peter, like Dr. Paul, realize
Peter, like Dr. Paul, realize economics and foreign policy have to be looked at together. If you love Schiff's economics, that prompts me to ask why you think he would be "another wannabe mass murderer." I kindly suggest doing more research.
I see a lot of glaring omissions
Look at Schiff's campaign website. http://schiffforsenate.com/?q=issues NOTHING about foreign policy. Watch the video I linked above; he SAYS: if Iran has nuclear weapons, we ought to go in and bomb them. I have no idea by what psychic means you have determined what Peter "realizes," or how you think his masterful knowledge of economics somehow guarantees that he ALSO has the moral conviction that killing innocent people is wrong, but so far I'll go with what he's saying, rather than your wishful thinking.
Hey, I'd be DELIGHTED to find out that I'm wrong about him -- come on, show me I'm wrong, and you'll make my day.

Look at his twitter page. He recently said he does not support attacking Iran. Peter supporting preemptive war is a myth.
Link?
I'd be delighted to learn that this is true. I've never used twitter before. I visited Peter's listing on twitter, but couldn't make any sense of it, or find any reference to Iran policy. Do you have a more specific link?

No he doesn't. It was an issue he hasn't put much thought into yet so when asked about it he tried to take the middle ground, hopefully to not lose votes. He's not a wannabe mass murderer by any stretch of the imagination.

Blumenthal is Dodd, Jr.
I found this blog post that has a news clip of Blumenthal saying that since Dodd apologized everything is okay:

Way to take the cowards way
Way to take the cowards way out, Dodd! You knew you had a snowballs chance in hell in getting reelected. So what do you do? You are dropping out. Glad to see you go Dodd, and I have even less respect for you now that you are taking the cowards way out. Good riddance!

Don't mean to sound paranoid.....
But this sudden desertion by so many in Washington and even in state government (Colorado governor just announced he won't be running).... makes me feel uneasy.
Almost like they know what's coming and are making tracks.

They're getting out of here before we start burning bankers...
...And hanging the effigy!
They don't want to be anywhere near the Federal Reserve when the masses descend upon this monstrosity, this illegal force of Satan, and begin dismantling the Federal Reserve by putting Benji Netanyahu, George Bush Senior, Henry Kissinger, Blair and the rest of the Globalists on trial for absolute Zionized Treason.
That day will come just as it came in Lord of the Rings...The Fed can not avoid the LAW!!!!
They do know whats coming!
They are cashing out and running for the hills. Most likely we will have to hunt them down later to bring them to trial for treason. But I think this is the year the normal citizen to run for congress or some sort of state delegate! we can still take our country back, just do your part! National Caucus is on Feb 2. If your not familiar with this you should be. The internet will tell you everything you need to know about this, or visit http://www.campaignforliberty.com

That's exactly what it is.
That's exactly what it is. "Cashing out". Look at it from his point of view (for a moment). You fight for decades against your Republican opponents and finally get the political majorities which ensure all of your pet projects will fly through Congress and the Senate with almost zero friction, yet the American people are calling your office on a daily basis demanding your head on a plate. So you leave on top (in terms of passing new legislation) then you get outta Dodge to avoid being burnt at the stake. Makes perfect sense.
Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...
I guess I have a different take on this.
It seems to me now they will be "free" to completely screw over us without fear of reprisal/reelection. With the added benefit of then being able to bring in a "new" face to continue their destructive policies.
This is actually bad news
Like they said above, the Dems will put someone more likeable in to replace him and he'll do the same crap and be a puppet for the establishment.
Dodd will probably take a job at Goldman or similar.
Good time for a law that would put a 5 year ban on working for any company that donated more than $50,000 to your campaign
Are they realizing
the majority of incumbents won't be re-elected?
Bloomingthal says he's in

Announcement coming @ 2:30 today
More than ever we need to fight for Peter. We need to help the people of Conn realize that Bloomingthal is just another career politician.
Has anyone else realized...
That there are actually alot of long time congressmen who are stepping down this year.

As I told you
http://dailypaul.com/node/119737#comment-1290775 Schiff is currently polling 4% for the Republican Primary (Simmons and McMahon are both polling in the 30s). Simmons and McMahon are his only Republican opponents, the others have dropped out.
On the Democrat side its rumored that party leaders are going to pressure Dodd to drop out so Blumenthal can run. Blumenthal is very popular in Connecticut and is considered unbeatable.
Rats!!!!!!!!!!
Rats leaving a sinking ship !!. They know that Healthcare and Cap and Trade will put them out of office. The downside is that they will vote for anything (or should I say sell their vote)and leave the Ameaican people holding the bag. I think we will see a lot more last minute Judas deals before they go out of office. If this happens things will get worse before it gets better.
RickStone
AG Blumenthal
The AG will win if he runs..........he is very very popular here. This is not good for Schiff, it will turn into Blumenthal vs Simmons.

Yep it's definite
There is no IF, Blumenthal just announced he will run.
