ABC Decides Not to Air Paul Interview

0 votes

John Stossel, of ABC, conducted an hour-long interview with Ron Paul, in response to a barrage of email requests. He did the interview but, so far, it has only been posted on the internet. Jane Aitken's Blog (below) has some clips.

http://www.abcnews.go.com/2020/Stossel/story?id=3970423&page=1

This is an excellent opportunity for Ron Paul supporters to drop a note to ABC News and to ask questions: why the disproportionate coverage of other candidates (Hillary, Obama, Rudy) to the exclusion of Ron Paul, and their obvious bias? In what way is their exclusion fair to the voters of the United States? Who made the decision to relegate the excellent interview restricted to web-only access? How is any of this fair?

I do not have the link to the ABC news desk, but I suspect some bright person will post it below. This is a good time for a few thousand emails.

This is what I wrote

I have told a ton of people about Ron Paul.
Many have looked him up online.

Many, many more aren't that computer savvy.

I believe, and I don't doubt you would agree, that airing the interview with Dr. Paul is the only fair thing to do.

Guiliani, Romney, Huckabee are shoved down our throats until we are SICK of it.
We need to hear from the good doctor.

Please reconsider your decision to show the interview online only.
It's really just not fair to the majority of Americans.

John Stossel interview on ABC

Just ran across this that seems to indicate it will soon be shown on 20/20:

These were GREAT interviews!

Oh well, still great for posting and emailing :-)

Here's what I sent ABC.

My in-laws wanted me to ask why you won't be showing the Ron Paul interview on TV. They have ALWAYS watched 20/20 and don't understand why the interview is online only. They keep on hearing about this Ron Paul fellow from my kids and other family members but want to make up their own mind.

Would you consider making this interview available to all Americans, not just younger, more educated and computer savvy ones?

Thanks.

I understand the outrage

I understand the outrage but I wonder if it is not premature.

Would someone please point me to the announcement that ABC is *not* showing segments of the video on national TV?

My guess is that ABC is likely cautious, and rightly so. You have an interview with 2nd tier candidate stating opinions that are, by all historical precedent, not in the mainstream, by a reporter who is likely very favorable to that candidate. They don't know how much Main Street America will be interested, or whether they'll think that ABC's 20/20 has gone off the deep end. Drugs? Prostitution? Come on!

This is why a gentle approach asking reasonably to see the video on 20/20 might work.

If they get the sense that their audience might approve its airing, would not be shocked by the ideas, and that it might grow their audience, they would likely go ahead and show it, perhaps with fingers crossed and prayers all around.

They are main stream and I am always amazed at what Stossel gets away with showing on their distribution channel. Let's support what they have done in the past, what Stossel is doing generally.

Thank you

Missed the "only".

A series of Ron Paul videos on the 20/20 website page on Paul

See:

I enjoyed listening to these 6 videos (upper right) in series.

Stossel, the interviewer - a leading libertarian in TV

Stossel is said to have been a speaker in the kick-off party when Ron started the campaign in NH. Inspite of all that they will not air the interview. So, this clearly means ABC bosses like the other MSM outlets are just doing whatever Fox or MSNBC or CBS or any other outlet is doing. I think for the very first time in my life I now know that who that "man behind the curtains" is. It always has been joked, ridiculed and written about in various places/platforms/context, pretty much in any setting (political, economical, social, corporate, etc.) that there is always a "man behind the curtain". Thank you Ron Paul for showing who that is.

Make sure they hear from you!

I sent my message in as an information request asking them to tell me when it would broadcast in my area. Best to be optimistic about these things!

Be sure to ask them politely for coverage:

Me too.

Great idea, I followed your lead...

"I saw that you will be airing an interview with Ron Paul on 20/20, but I cannot find when it will be broadcast. Can you please tell me when it will be on tv? I don't have high speed internet to watch it online [a little white lie :)], but I am very much looking forward to watching this. Thank you."

Very sneaky.

.
I like your style.

Makes no sense from a marketing standpoint

You have a interview with someone who is very popular on the internet. Here is a way to expand the reach of your traditional media, television, to an audience that is web based. Why wouldn't you, as a business, as a network, want to expand your viewing audience and bring new viewers from the web to your network. Absolutely, totally irresponsible to their advertisers.

Comments on the website

For some reason, I have trouble posting comments to ABC's website. Their system is not the best and the more comments there are, the worse it's handled.

However, I really feel the 'war on drugs' must go on, in their opinion, because they would have a lot to lose if not. I can't get into it here, but a lot of you know what I am talking about.

My submission to ABC

You have the story. The question is: Why doesn't your editorial board air it? Do you think it would lessen your viewsership? Cost you ratings? Be too contraversial?

The answer to all of those questions are in your favor if you air your Ron Paul interview.

Which begs the question again: Why doesn't your editorial board air it?

No editorial board: I think it's Bob Iger.

.
You might contact the Network News Director, whoever that may be, who reports to Bob Iger (who, I tihink, is still president of ABC). Iger is a "made" insider if ever there was one. Came up through the ranks of Hill & Knowlton and is probably CFR. Married Willow Bay, the Estee Lauder model and former tv celeb. Anyhow you won't get Iger to move, but you can certainly make a little noise in his direction.

Disney owns ABC by the way. No wonder the news is Goofy.
.

Steve Jobs is one of the

Steve Jobs is one of the largest holders of Disney btw, so Bob Iger is his monkey boy now.

Jobs is for the gold standard? Really? I'd love to see a link with that confirmed... as a concerned AAPL shareholder, naturally. ;)

My comment to ABC Polite and to the point!

I understand that you have chosen to not air the Ron Paul interview nationally on 20/20. I believe this to be a mistake. Ron Paul deserves equal air time and coverage. If the interview has been conducted, then the public at large, including those who do not use the internet, have a need to see a different view point or perhaps the re-asserted classical conservative view point. Please consider all the "Goldwater" conservatives out there that would love to hear that message again. Thanks

Polite Comment to ABC

My message to ABC:

Thank you for conducting this interview with Ron Paul. However I disagree viamently with your decision to only show the interview online. Dr. Paul does not only have support via the Internet. He has placed either 1rst or 2nd in the Republican straw polls conducted around the country. He even beat Rudy Giuliani in the recent New York straw poll wining first place. Again I ask that you reconsider you stance and air this interview on national television.

BS

ABC knows that almost everyone on the internet knows who Ron Paul is. It is 100% BS that they are only playing it on the internet. They think they can shut us up doing an interview and only playing it online. We know the game they play. Keep the letters and emails going.

The FIX is Definately On

I think Roin should file a federal law suit against the media in reference to equal air time for candidates. That would het the major media headlines.

Ron Paul coverage

The local ABC station in Augusta Georgia will be doing live coverage of the Aiken, South Carolina's Christmas parade (complete with our own 14 foot helium filled Ron Paul blimp). We are expected to be the only candidate represented, as we were the only one in 3 parades we marched in last weekend. All the people in those 3 towns got to see Ron Paul well represented and literature was handed out to all.
I have just emailed that local ABC station and requested that the Stossel
interview be aired as suggested by a previous writer.
South Carolina RP supporters are doing their best, we understand that our primaries are just around the corner, January 19th.

these people know Ron Paul

these people know Ron Paul is running away with this thing.. from what I hear Ron Paul is running away with Iowa.. the polls are BS.. they cannot give him anymore airtime period.. this why there is no mention on sites with these polls where they leave him off and now they are are starting a total blackout! BUT ITS TO LATE! LOL. Look at our fundraising compared to the other candidates this quarter.. there is a good chance we'll hit 20 million! look at how many people are signing up for the tea party, the blimp etc.. our legion grows by leaps and bounds everyday! The true American, the one that rises to the call when their country calls them is coming out in force! this is gonna be FUN.... I can't wait to see the general election results when Ron Paul beats Hitlery 80% to 20% it will be the largest landslide victory in a Presidential election! What the media doesn't get is that everytime some talking head from lame stream media wether it is "Consevative" or liberal, bashes the good Doctor they bring us fresh, enthusiastic recruits! God Bless Ron Paul!

Just Keep Posting Video

Up where I live, smack in the center of the USA, I must say I truly get energized viewing up-to-date footage of rallys and support for Ron Paul on RonPaulForPresident.com.

I read worldwide internet news each and every morning. Being a cspanjunkie I am usually 2 days ahead of the curve on the issues. The MSM has no credibiity as a whole. View the film, "From Freedom To Fascisim".....you'll understand the MSM's job.
