What has become of me

so i guess you get a master or phd in journalism, work in the industry for two or three decades just to end up in a room with a monolithic authority who laughs at just about every question you bring up and shrugs it off like an adult talking to a child. what's the point? it is beyond me how someone can devote half of his life in a professional field just to end up there being treated like a child. i don't see a point for their existence.
