Save the Date - March 20 Pro Peace - Anti War March on DC

On Saturday, March 20, 2010, there will be a mass National March & Rally in D.C. We will march together to say “No Colonial-type Wars and Occupations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine!" We will march together to say "No War Against Iran!” We will march together to say “No War for Empire Anywhere!” Instead of war, we will demand funds so that every person can have a job, free and universal health care, decent schools, and affordable housing.

A day of action and outreach in Washington, D.C., will take place on Friday, March 19, preceding the Saturday march. There will be coinciding mass marches on March 20 in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Cindy Sheehan and a coalition of groups has announced a new initiative set to begin in March 2010 called Peace of the Action, an integral part of which will be a camp that will be set up beginning March 13. This camp will be a staging area for people coming to DC to take part in anti-war activities.

Dear LYNN,
Voters for Peace has joined with numerous anti-war organizations to endorse the March 20th march against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

People from all over the country are organizing to converge on Washington, D.C. On Saturday, March 20, 2010, there will be a massive National March & Rally in D.C. The day before, on Friday, March 19, will be a day of action and outreach, also in D.C. People are organizing busses and other transportation to the nation's capital to protest the ongoing wars and occupations. To get more information on how you can help and how you can be involved, click here.

There will be coinciding mass marches on March 20 in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

People are joining together to oppose wars and occupations across the globe. We will march together to call for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan, to urge "No War Against Iran!" And, we will march together to say "No War for Empire Anywhere!"

Not only are these wars wrong, they are bad for U.S. national security, undermine the economy, and weaken the rule of law and democracy. The United States cannot afford to be borrowing money to fund these wars. It cannot afford $1 million per soldier to be in Afghanistan for one year when 19% of Americans are unemployed or underemployed, when 45,000 die in the U.S. due to lack of health care, and when we are seeing record bankruptcy and foreclosure as well as record debt and deficit.

March 20 is the seventh anniversary of the criminal war of aggression launched by Bush and Cheney against Iraq. One million or more Iraqis have died. Tens of thousands of U.S. troops have lost their lives or been maimed, and continue to suffer a whole host of enduring problems from this terrible war. Just last week the U.S. suffered its 1,000th death of a soldier in Afghanistan just a few days after three busses of civilians were killed in an air strike ordered by the U.S. military.

It is time for us to join together and show our opposition to war and empire.

March 20, 2010 12noon pro-peace march

thank you so much for posting this. In Steve Horton's interview with Cindy Sheehan she did say that her group's only message will be to end the wars and civil liberties abuses; they are not going to call for free healthcare, more taxes for education, etc. so that those who believe in constitutional, limited, government will feel welcome.

it would be helpful if the left and right could combine efforts on this date with the goal of stopping both the civil liberties abuses as well as the wars. Otherwise there doesn't seem like there will ever be enough people in either camp to make a difference.

it looks like people are congregating 12 noon at the White House (Lafayette Park) on March 20. It might be nice for libertarians/independents to meet and walk as a unit in the march; any thoughts? I've still got my July 2008 Ron Paul Revolution March teeshirt I plan on wearing ;-).
