Update: "Debra Medina is scary ..." email response
Here is an email response from a friend in Las Vegas. He has a wife, 2 kids, very good job, home, and is a "typical American".
I am going to give this friend some effort and see how it goes. Looking to hear some response points that would be better than mine. What would be your responsive strategy towards educating this individual?

Debra Medina is scary and so is most of Texas politics. Debra and others there talk about getting rid of the major sources that Texas now has for raising revenue to support the general well-being of it’s citizens. I ‘m not hearing a comprehensive plan for substituting that lost revenue from property taxes and other forms of taxation. Though aligning oneself with the causes of the original “patriots” from the 1700’s seems like a noble cause. The truth is things have changed quite radically from that time. Immigrants have poured in, horses have made way for motorized vehicles and all the structures that surround that accomplishment. There is more to learn in schools besides Bible versus, and “arms” are no longer single-load one bullet jobs, protecting the farmer from vandals. One gun can wipe out a whole block of people in two minutes. Maybe we should be less concerned with the person next door that doesn’t share our faith or our sexual orientation or our color and more suspicious of the gun collector who is stocking up for doomsday. What I think I’m seeing and hearing from Debra and others like her is that our country has been overrun by minorities from other cultures—that if we didn’t “provide” for these other people—we would have the capital to provide for “the real Americans”, I’m only guessing. And since when has it been a better idea for all those concerned to put into office people that have less education, less experience and less exposure to the outside world then we ourselves have? The world is too complicated to have “everyman’s neighbor” running it.

My response 1-10:
Hey John, I recall myself feeling much the same about things.
Just for information, Debra is married to a Hispanic individual. So far, the freedom renaissance seems quite devoid of racism from what I personally experience.

There are other videos of Debra with much information and a revenue plan. The Laffer Curve - http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2009/05/18/revenge-of-the-laf... is involved with this, which I too am putting forth the effort to understand.
Remember after the stimulus this past March when our government was telling us to spend money for our economy to survive? Does that sound logical? This advice comes from our government “who cares” about our families. We really can’t afford things (mostly inferior products and using debt to purchase) because of the loss of our purchasing power. Check this short and simple article with a graph on the loss of our purchasing power. - http://evoorhees.blogspot.com/2009/07/record-of-federal-rese.... I attached a few other graphs. This is a root cause.
Basically, all issues have money involved in some way. Bailouts, stimulus, health care, financial crisis, housing crisis, rising prices … are symptoms. So finding out what also feeds the symptoms is a 2nd root cause - fractional reserve banking. Here is a good 10 minute video if you want to check it out at a later time - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4578903985916741358#
I cannot afford and therefore do not have health insurance. I also do not want the government to "fix" this for me. This is because I have learned from experiencing - our failed Keynesian economic system, and the poor historical results of big government intervention. The citizens are burdened, demoralized, and more poor. We are experiencing the middle class losing its wealth.
Not sure what is meant by doomsday… Do you recall the chaos during Hurricane Katrina, where some members of the police force “went AWOL” from their oath of defending the people’s rights? It seems common sense dictated to them that they should go home and protect their own family with their firearms. It is our natural right to have a chance to defend our ourselves. I own firearms, as everyone actually should. Hopefully I won’t ever have to use any for self defense. If something did arise, it would be unfortunate that unarmed neighbors could be at the mercy of someone else’s aggression. There is plenty of history describing what happens when the citizens are unarmed and those in power are. Here’s a short article on force vs reason - http://munchkinwrangler.blogspot.com/2007/03/why-gun-is-civi... and this good short video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nf1OgV449g .
“…less educationg, less experience and less exposure … The world is too complicated to have “everyman’s neighbor” running it.” – Can you elaborate on this?
Why not use self-determination and also gain knowledge from the facts of what made this nation free and prosperous – understanding liberty and free markets (Austrian economics). I’m glad that I have broke free (by reading, researching, keeping an open mind, and using logic and common sense) from the repressive socialist influence we all have been fed for our lifetimes. We have been mislead that man’s talents and goodness is not enough to solve problems, but government is. Those that promote liberty are cast as “not caring for people” which is false. We are trying to get people to once again believe in themselves and to help others besides solving root issues.
Take a peek at my website www.libertypursuit.com and scroll down the center. There is Judge Napolitano’s – “Rights vs Goods”, the two depression era economic articles, the Philosophy of Liberty video ... - On the left, the short Inflation, CPI video that is very good and simple to understand. These are where some of the answers lie so your children can have a chance to live in a free and peaceful society.
Hey, how about watching Debra debate the governor and the senator this Thursday? - http://texasdebates.org/index.php
John Lennon seems to have done some homework - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yRh5NNiFG0 Video - 1 min, 19 seconds

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!
"typical American(sheeple)"
dude's lost, total left right indoctrination, brainwashed, needs to take the red pill, maybe too far gone, fluoride, aspartame, mercury shots for the wife and kids, zombified, NWO complete......
"The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it."

“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul
Ask him if he could help
Ask him if he could help support the general well-being of the Texas citizens by voluntarily sending a check to the Texas state government.
They're running low on funds which is why his donation would be greatly appreciated. If he really cared about the people's well-being, he'd do it.
While he's at it, tell him to send some more of his money to the IRS because the Federal government could also use his help.
Point him to resources
These types need to see some sort of documentation from a well respected source. For example, you should let him know that a comprehensive study was done regarding the property tax elimination. The analysis and recommendation to switch to a broader base sales tax was done by Art Laffer. Mr. Laffer is a well respected economist who was a top economic advisor to President Reagan.
I would think if this person were very economically minded, he would not be living in a city that is almost entirely dependent on one industry.
The other comments are just liberal mud slinging. Debra isn't a racist and is married to a Hispanic.
I find it laughable that you would hold...
Art Laffer up as being a good source of economic advice.
But don't take my word for it: Check it out.
He may have been wrong on somethings.
But that does not mean his Laffer curve is not a good theory.

here's an interview with her
You'll have to decide yourself if it is right for your friend.
Don't give up though. Just don't expect to turn someone around immediately.
New ideas have to settle sometimes :-)

we are the Remnant
What your "buddy" is presenting there
is a very typical liberal argument.
The "idea" he's presenting is that things are somehow now "too complex" to be handled by people, so the gov't must run everything'.
All liberals use this argument to some degree or other.
It's based on total ignorance. What they are really saying is that they are too ignorant to attempt a cogent presentation of their non-existent positions, so they'd rather remain ignorant, and turn their lives over to the gov't. And also the rest of OUR lives too.
Here's the basic situation.
This guy is ignorant, and very liberal.
There is essentially no chance for this person. He's lost.
We have a certain amount of time in which we can help people who have a chance, and so we must work with the ones who are capable of responding.
It's time to cut this guy loose, and let him go down the toilet where he wants to be.
Not even a liberal argument
Liberalism, properly understood, is derived from the latin term liberalis which means "of freedom."
This guy is just a socialist.
things have changed quite radically since then.
and yet the only valid example is the automobile.
"The two weakest arguments for any issue on the House floor are moral and constitutional"
Ron Paul
Don't give up on him.
Send videos that from Youtube that speak to his concerns. We are BROKE what part of that does he NOT understand. His standard of living is going to down and no amount of money from the state will reach the people. Any money collected will go to the state and into the pockets of the banksters to cover the interest of the HUGE bailouts.
Never give up on this man or anyone else. Eventually, as things get worse he will KNOW you were right and even start quoting you. Never Ever Give Up! Good Luck.
Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.
Tell him "Debra Medina is not scary. What is scary is ...
Rick Perry trying to force teenage girls to take the HPV vaccine, when hundreds have been injured or killed.
Now, that's scary.
You might also want to point out that Debra Medina's tax
reform proposals will be public knowledge, and will be carefully scrutinized by the Texas Budget office and must be approved by the Texas State legislature, unlike Perry's HPV vaccine executive order.
He a brainwashed idiot....
"People" should never be afraid of the government, the government should be well afraid of the people.
It should be scared to death.
The very opposite of what this guy has been brainwashed with...
Let the C4L enlighten him mightily
Sorry to say...
Give up on him, and find new people to educate. Some people are just to brainwashed (ex: govt. responsible for the "well-being" of its citizens.) There are millions of others who, when they hear the message of liberty become very excited.
It's like selling...it's a NUMBERS game. If you get rejected, move on to the next one!
Keep up the good work too! (Don't get discourage by idiots)
Say YES to Dr. NO
He's beyond hope
The tendency to reach that far to paint people as racists speaks to very deeply entrenched political beliefs that are shrouded in double, triple, and quadruplethink. You won't be able to scratch the surface of it in thirty rounds of emails, then you'll realize how pointless it is when he does something wacky like accuse your grandpa of sexually discriminating against him.
He's not a potential Debra Medina voter. Karl Rove will vote for Debra Medina before he does.
BTW, he doesn't sound like a native Nevadan.
Defend Liberty!
lol ... your right, he's not
From New York State, been there around 20 years though ...
